      MSY have the 500GB T5 for $247 but not stock in Geelong or Clayton.. Not sure about other stores. Might be worth a look also.

  It's not as svelte looking but buying a SATA 3 M.2 SSD or a SATA 3 SSD and buying a USB 3 enclosure with UASP to put it in is significantly cheaper.

    This was my thoughts a while ago. Couldn't find any good enclosures for a decent price though.. Also didn't know if DIY was going to have an overall effect on transfer speed?

        Not sure if it's just advertising, but the GEN 1 you posted seems to be 5gbps whereas GEN 2 shows 10gbps Edit: Cheaper at Catch, updated link.

  Would a Samsung 500gb SSD that you can buy for between ($180-200) in an external inclosure (such as a Orico USB 3.0 5GBPS) provide similar speeds to the T5?

    Similar, yes, same no.
    T5 is a 10Gb interface. They are also much smaller than a 2.5" drive in a case.
