Tried my luck and got the 3 months. Existing user I think waited probably more than 6 months since last trial.

Yeah just got the 3 months trial again too. My last one expired in December.
@nicksman: you are correct last canceled subscription was April 2017. I must have used other emails between that time and now for the 3 moths trial.

I don't intend to pay for it, all it gets me is no YouTube ads. Got Netflix which is miles ahead for movie content and not a single YouTube Original interests me.
YouTube offline is ok, but not something I use, would be good if I caught the train.
How about Google Play Music?
I don't use it, audiobooks in the car.
Apple music is in the house which gets used for music.
If they had movie content to compete with Netflix it would be great.
AdFree Youtube PLUS a Music Subscription Service is the main sales pitch. The Premium content is still very much in experimental mode.
If you already have a Music Subscription, that you're unwilling to drop, then it's unlikely to be a good deal. But otherwise it's a steal.

To support the producers, just like I turn off Ad Blocking for OzBargain and other sites I frequent and cause the cost is minimal for the entertainment I get.
I probably watch more Youtube hours than Netflix, but we pay for both, just conveniently the Youtube Sub comes with a Music Subscription too.
