First time poster but saw this deal on Le Creuset Casserole Dish, seems like a good discount with the same item selling for over $400 on sale at Myer. Other sizes available on the Your Home Depot site.

Vendor in title please. And I think that is a dish, not oven.

    • +4

Sorry just updated to include vendor and it is a known as a French or Dutch oven.

      • Fair enough.

      • Dutch oven

I do them in my bed.

        • +2

…it was only a matter of time before someone posted that

        • +2

I do them in your bed too.

Hi. Why post the rrp as $579? Why not a hundred trillion as my 4 year old would have it?

    • +2

Because that is the RRP. And they are significantly harder to find below that, than they were a few years ago.

    • $579 is what Peter's of Kensington reduced it from. Ditto Kitchen Warehouse.

    • $579 here.

      • +1

That's just there to help other store sell at 'reduced' prices.

        • For you and I and perhaps most other Members that is true. But it still amazes me how many people don't look for cheaper prices.

  • Great deal OP, thanks a lot. The cheapest I could find was around $330 importing from Amazon UK

  • +1

Can someone briefly explain why these are so good?
    Serious question

    • +1

Brand name, quality and durability of the enamel finish (hard to chip), type of iron used, quality control/ finish, design (subjective)

      • We use a 12 year old Aldo one. Looks like the day we bought it for $10 I think…

        A fool and his money..

        • +5

I've got an aldi one too.. off the bat there were little bubbles in the enamel.. over the decades this could cause the iron inside to degrade. You can find le creuset pots from the 50s still in great nick. Both do the job fine, but there is a marginal difference in quality.

        • @simulacrum:
I have a few of these. Totally solid.

    • $579, French, called an oven - what more do you need?

      • $579, French

I'd never pay that much for French.

    • Nostalgia.

    • +3

I think Aldi also has a $20 that people rave about too!

    • Kmart isn't stove top safe.

  • +1

…what kind of food do you cook in a $579 pot?
i.e. is this suitable for my mr ching szechuan instant noodles?

  • +8

An excellent gift for our PM’s delicious wife!

    • Shorten's wife is delish.

Thanks. I was after the grillit pan and found it cheapest on this site for $140: https://www.yourhomedepot.com.au/le-creuset-signature-square…

  • +1

somehow my uk amazon order in 2012 was 72.50 gbp. it's probably the best kitchen item i've ever bought. lol at comparing le creuset quality to $10 kmart quality :(

    • Why? You get what you pay for? It's just a solid object with no moving parts FCS.

  • +2

Still disapointed that my "Le Creuset Cast Iron Round Casserole, Granite, 28 Cm for $120
AUD from Amazon UK" was canceled because it was "out of stock" from this deal in 2012.

  • I bought a no name from Harris Scarf for $40 about 5-10 years ago.

  • These guys have some other decent deals on cast iron cookware too
    https://www.yourhomedepot.com.au/cooking/cookware/cast-iron-…

  • Holy moly that is expensive. You can get these so much cheaper when on offer in Europe. I have a few back in the UK and don't think they're worth the money.
