Just don't put it in the Dell $170 machine.

Or is it obvious to not put a $800 thing onto a $30 thing… hmm

That deal for the 179 dell SFF is still a pretty decent computer by todays standard, I've got a 1070 in a similarly spec'd machine from the same gen. If only you could squeeze the gpu in (well, you could but it would look like a Frankenstein of a pc).

  • The fact that some of the cheapest 1080s are ROG Strixs and Gaming Xs tells you some stores or suppliers are flirting with an ACCC action…

    • Or they're getting rid of stock to make way for the launch of the new cards

      • Then why have these magically slid in to about 9% higher than 1070Tis when comparing similar models?

Guess what the performance differential between the cards is for gaming and non-mining applications…

I'd have buyer remorse if I was impatient and didn't wait a couple months

@czd: Of course, I'm just saying that this is pretty shady pricing, and it's all still $100 more than US MSRP, in some cases 23 months after launch.

In this particular case, it's still ~$60 (7%) more than what would have been a fair price point 12 months ago.

It also makes the 1080ti pricing offered by a store rep the other day (that they defended as earnest) look really dumb.

        • Because 1070ti with GDDR5 is a much better card for mining than a 1080 with GDDR5X in terms of overall performance and performance to watt.

        • @c0balt: so all of these stores are re-stocking every product, every month to get these price changes?

The inflation is happening at supplier and retailer level; one or the other cannot explain the price movement.
