  • eww, vodafone

Each to their own. It hasn't been that bad for me.

I had a terrible time with Vodafone direct, but Lebara are freakin great. No complaints about reception, value is good. Above all else, their call centre based in Fiji(?) Is really nice to deal with, which makes a massive difference. From a consistency and service perspective, we're staying with these guys even if they aren't the cheapest. No stress is a nice discount.

Yes, I experienced the same. I had to go through TIO to sort out a really minor issue with Vodafone. But when I had a similar issue with Lebara, I was amazed with how quick & professionally it was dealt with by their customer service team. They called back as promised(which is amazing) and followed up on the query as well once it was resolved.

        • We really appreciate your feedback, thank you.

        • OP could we have the $119 16GB again please.. Been waiting for a long time for that deal.

    • I have found Vodafone the most reliable network I've used actually and I've spent plenty of time on all 3 networks. I don't go to regional or remote areas much, so Telstra style coverage is of no use to me. I'd highly recommend this if you use your service in a city/metro area.

      • Test rates is an absolute waste of time & money as their network is always going down for one reason or another!!!

  • It's actually really good now. Rated well above kogan in Brisbane

    • +5

you mustn't have heard that Kogan switched from Telstra to Vodafone in 2015.
      Kogan = Lebara = Voda.

      • Strange, my 4g modem has used both kogan and Lebara recently and a huge difference in quality

Third party resellers can purchase different tiers of the wholesale provider service which can result in diffferent speed and reception experience.

If the Lebara rep is looking at this, can you please show us some more love to OZB community and bring back the $99.00 for 180 days deal? Or the $180 deal for 360 days? ;)

    • Yeah. or Atleast the 16gb instead of 5GB would make the plan more lucrative.

      • For this price? Not gonna happen ;)

        • Expired on April the 16th, just 10$ more for 6 months (180 Days – 16GB Data/Month + Unlimited Oz Talk/Text, Unlimited 18 Countries for $119) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/372085

I regret that I missed out on that deal. I forgot when my deal was supposed to expire. My six-month recharge expired on May the 30th, and now I am hoping that a deal like that will be back again soon. :(

  • 360 days will make this a great bargain
need a couple for my kids I might even
enroll the whole family $109 for 360 days

  • there's 5 people here who would sign up for $109 360😀

    • Bring it on
      I have 4-6 as well

  • Damn… just purchased this deal which were $115, I guess I can justify the differences now and moving on….

  • Is this available for port in numbers?

    • Pretty certain that would be mentioned if it wasn't available.

    • yep, you can port in your existing number from another provider to Lebara

  • Can i use the $5 international call credit to txt to the countries listed?

    • "… now comes with Unlimited Standard Calls to 15 Selected Countries" which are the ones listed.
$5 credit is used against non-listed countries.

    • Yes

  • ‘Unlimited standard calls to 15 selected countries‘ include both landlines and mobiles?

  • I don't think $109 for 360 days will happen (though I would love it), but a 360 day deal would be very welcome!

  • Kogan has this deal if anyone doesn't call overseas: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-mobile-prepaid-voucher-co…

If you just want 6 months TPG are doing 4gb for $10 a month on vodafone network too.

    • How about 20$ port out fee for TPG, do you whether if it still exist ?

      • 60 + 20 = $80 thats still $29 cheaper than this isnt it?

      • I don't see any mention of $20 port out fee on this plan. Have you seen it mentioned?

        • +1

its $11 port out fee aparently

    • +2

TPG has a $20 "pre-payment" which is functionally a non-refundable deposit. Plus an $11 port out fee. People have gotten those back by complaining through the TIO but that takes time and effort. Just something to consider in comparing the plans.

      • How did they get them back - are they not legal charges or something?

        • Refer to this thread: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/182278

People have used different reasons to argue about the port out and pre-payments: not in the original plan, not clearly communicated/unclear to consumers, deceptively presented/named, unfair. For me, I consider them basically a hidden $30 setup fee designed to discourage customers from leaving. Ultimately, TPG refunded me and labelled it as "good will" because it was too much of a hassle to handle complaints through the TIO.

    • The old mobile brochure T&C mentioned the $11 port out fee but the funny thing with the general mobile T&C only mentioned that TPG may (not must) charge a fee to port out without mentioning the amount (6.6). The CIS on this new promotional plan is even worse not mentioning anything.

    • Be careful with TPG, I got stung a few years ago with all their bullshit charges, like calling them, you had to pay for! No included 13,1300,1800. Data charged at 1mb increments, not to mention the pre-payment scam!

  • I'm trying to figure out if I should live on 1GB Telstra for $10 or 5GB Voda for $18.17 …

    • 5gb voda. Or the TPG offer mentioned above.

    • If that 1Gb is off Belong/Telstra, then I would personally stay on that because I like the data banking that belong offers. Essentially a saving of $49.00 for 6 months(comparing it to this plan) and you don't get international calling (however it can be added as an extra). Before anyone asks, I'm talking about this offer - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/375756

The TPG offer seems ok but I would personally stay away from TPG since they impose lots of additional hidden fees.

  • Glad I bought in Feb.; on about $19.84 equivalent. From 16 gb to 5 gb exhibits their backsliding.

  • i am still waiting for my sim delivery that order on 6th March……

    • I received my 4 sms from the April deal a few days later, not that I needed them all I wanted was recharge vouchers but they still sent them!

    • Please share your order number via private message and we can have a look. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Been on Lebara for almost a year, Vodafone's network coverage is good enough where I go (Melbourne metro area), but we'll be switching to another network for my wife at least - no reception in our local supermarket (it's underground, but we were on the Optus network with Vaya before and it worked) and that's (strangely) a deal breaker for her. She's been mad at me for a year for switching over :D

    • Let her jump ships, far far more drop outs with crOptus! If talking on the phone whilst shopping is important to her, each to their own!

      • We had Vaya (Optus) for a few years before that, no problems. She rarely leaves the CBD, most places have good reception - ironically nobody is good where I live (tall building, CBD), nor where I work (tall building, Southbank), including Telstra. The Docklands location is so bad that calls are often impossible, I'm guessing some sort of interference as it affects all networks badly.

  • I am up for 360 days deal as well. Doesn’t have to be $109….

    • I'm pretty sure that you can stack these, I bought 4 x 180 day large last month for $119 & you could stack 2 years!

  • I'm pretty sure that I paid $119 a month ago for 16gb on the large plan?!

    • I wish I had jumped on that deal now. I might take a punt on a different telco once my 365 days are up with Lebara.

What is the price of this plan after 6 months?

    • Who are you asking what the price of something will be in 6 months time?!

  • -1

There is a same deal for recharge, but still waiting for the possibility of a special deal for Ozb. :P

  • Any news on international roaming at Lebara?

  • When are you guys going to beat Kogan's 2 for 1 deal

I just found Catch Connect has 365 day prepaid Sim for $139 (36GB) and $189 (72GB)…

If the Catch Gift Card can be used to purchase this sim, then the 20% discount at Woolies (wef 9/5) would bring the cost down to $111 and $151 respectively.

Has anyone used Catch Connect and care to comment on their service, understand they use Optus network.

    • Thanks Man for founding that deal
Please submit it to the new deals
