Similar to the E480 deal that was recently posted, but for anyone wanting the bigger 15.6" screen as opposed to the 14". The number pad was the key for me (no pun intended)

Intel Core i5-8250U Processor (6MB Cache, up to 3.40 GHz)
8GB DDR4 2400MHz SODIMM
15.6" FHD IPS 1920x1080 AntiGlare
128GB Solid State Drive PCIe OPAL2.0 M.2 2242 (16GT/s)
Intel UHD Graphics 620

There's several things that you can upgrade as well to suit your needs. The i7-8550U is an additional $200 but from what i've read it's not worth that much extra. Ram can be upgraded to 16gb or 32gb. MD Radeon RX 550 2GB is an addtional $143

Couple of extra features I opted for were the backlit keyboard for $49.99 and the fingerprint reader for $22

An extra $100 will give you the 256gb SSD instead of the 128gb as well. Option for a second hard drive as well in the 2.5" bay

Cashrewards currently have 5% cashback at Lenovo and I have confirmed with them the code DEALS is accepted. This brings the total to $854.05 delivered, before any upgrades

Good deal. Paid $919 last week via Ebay for the E580 with the 256GB SSD (using the 10% Ebay Gift Card deal so it ended up around $839). Wish I had gotten the Backlit Keyboard. Good machine though for the price as I was looking for an IPS display as I hate the washed out look of Laptop TN panels. The cheapest 15" IPS FullHD laptop I could find via JB/Harvey/GG was $1300. The E580 ticked all the boxed and comes in under $1000. Again a Good machine at a good price point.

      Any over heating issue?

hopefully they have this deal in the near future https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/362873

      • Nope. So far so good.

      • Great price for those specs. Too bad it's only the 14" :(
I need a 15.6" with the number pad on the side

          It is the 15.6".

@Spizz: lol, to the people that downvoted me, this is my post…. i know it's a 15.6"

i was referring to the comment by Aussie88, the deal he linked was a 14"

        • @bighorse:

Ram can be upgraded to 16gb or 32gb

    • Yaozy you beat me to it haha

  • Any idea where I can see this laptop retail?

  • Can't decide between this or the E480 any opinions? Would it be worth upgrading the graphics on this?

  • just bought Lenovo Ideapad 310 with i7-7500U for $200. dual channel 8gb came in it. added $100 SSD, FullHD IPS panel for another $80, which makes the cost $380 in total. maybe I have grown out of Ozbargain? either that, or I have completely ozbargained myself

    • Where? How? Is it refurbished?

      • -1

at Renewd. condition is "excellent" :) refurbished, yes, but like new

  • I'm in a market for a new laptop - it'll be my desktop basically. I need it for browsing/videos/downloading/word docs etc No gaming, no graphics requirements etc. Would this be my best bet or could i go cheaper?

    • I don't know a whole lot about what's currently on the market, but from browsing through several reviews and deals over the past week, this would be one of the best available at this price, assuming you want the 8th gen i5. Most reviews of other laptops were complaining about the screen, battery life, the keyboard etc etc, whereas the E580 got pretty decent reviews.

You'd be able to find a previous generation cheaper, but i'd recommend the i7 for older models, and definitely make sure it has a SSD. Those things are amazing lol

Also depends if you want the 15.6" screen or would be happy with a 14", if you require/prefer the side number pad, backlit keyboard etc etc. If you're sitting at a desk with it, i'd assume you'd have lights on so a backlit keyboard isn't a priority, same goes for battery life, you'd just have it plugged in. If you plan on travelling with it, you don't want it too heavy. Etc etc

      Everyone has different preferences :)

    • did you use AMEX by any chance? been trying to buy it all morning using diff AMEX cards and it keeps coming back authorisation failed. AMEX said my cards are fine and it's on Lenovo's end. ugh.

      • I used PayPal

  • Just to double confirm, the fact that this doesn't have a thunderbolt 3 port means i can't connect it to a egpu, correct?
