    $10 for 1.5GB isn't bad either, it's a good plan for kids/grandparents.

Just keep in mind it drops to 1GB data after the first 6 months (I put a note about that as I noticed it in the fine print)… Happy to add that in the list above if others are interested :-) Cheers for the suggestion…

      • It still has unlimited calls, true? So a nice deal.

          200min calls on the non-listed $9.95 plan…

@Jonc: Well. Then this seems better: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/375756

        • @pizzaguy:

If you are after a cheap entry-level I agree, personally, I find I don't need unlimited calls but more data nowadays and these plans seem great for a half decent amount of data for most users, all the best!

    • I have been using this $10 plan for the last couple of years, and I am not a kid or a grandparent, just a light user. No issues here, so a happy customer

Enter promo code "mobile_act" for free activation.

    • Thanks for sharing CarlJack, I've added it to the deal above :-)

    • When the promo code expire?

  • Anyone using these guys? How do these guys compare to Jeenee? :)

    • Yeah, I've been with them for a couple of months.
I do wish they had a Mobile app for usage but beyond that no problems to report, but I'm not a very heavy user either.

      • I recently have had a month to month plan with them with a lot of technical issues for few weeks that they claimed was not their fault but I have to admit their customer service has been awesome! (apart from the waiting time, that they offer call back which was pretty good) I give them 8 out of 10.

Run away. Referring to my comments in 2016 on a previous deal:

There is a rep who responds via their facebook page, usually same day. They also have a call centre.

However, I churned away from Spintel pretty soon after I joined because they changed the T&C on their so called "flexible" plans because now everytime you want to make a change, they charge you $5. They also need you to send a message in writing 30 days before you want to leave to another provider.

They also stuffed up my billing in my first month, and kept billing me after I closed my account. So I am quite familiar with their customer support as I had to chase up a number of issues.

Also, after being with a few Optus resellers, I moved to Telstra pre-paid SIMs which were on sale, https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/telstraprepaid and the 4G network is much, much better. I won't be going back to Optus ever again, I will just stick to Telstra now, or in a pinch maybe Vodafone.

      • Thanks for the heads up, I have not used them as yet but I've heard from a few people that do they have had no issues so I think they must have improved, I'm also not sure they charge a $5 upgrade fee any longer as I could not find this in their T&C currently. Perhaps they were new a few years ago to the Optus network? (no idea) but it sounds like they have stuff together now days going on a few reviews and checking updated T&C's… you still need to provide 30 days noticed of cancellation, however, I feel this is fair/reasonable and common with many providers.

  • If they use same support service as for their broadband internet… then I would look away asap.

  • I'm already paying 30 bucks to spintel for less than that.

Wonder if I can switch/how long it'll take.

EDIT: "Online plan change unavailable, please contact us." welp.

    • If you not in a contract I believe you can change your plan without incurring a fee… best give them a call to find out though as I have not used them myself yet…

  • I'm using Moose Mobile $34 for 10gb a month at moment, wondering if should switch to the $26 a monther…

    • Of course you should it saves you $8 a month!

  • Good price , but still doesn’t beat Kogan. My 16gb plan only cost me $180 for 12 month (after different vouchers). If you can’t be bothered with Vodafone, or need roaming this isn’t bad.

    • Unfortunately vodafone network still have really bad reception for the areas that I live in as well the route that I travel. Did the test with one of the previous really cheap kogan deals.

  • I’ve been with Spintel for about 3 years.

Awesome phone service and great customer service.

It uses the Optus network which is much bette than Vodafone for me.

    • thanks for the review and sharing your findings over 3 years, I'm considering using them in the future, I've heard good things from a couple friends so good to see some positive reviews to back them up…

  • DANNGGG …. I just signed up at 9pm last night and missed this free signed up code !!!
BTW, Can I still use it for free activation as I’m still waiting for the SIM card to be sent out . ? Thanks

    • When I thought to sing up with them a week ago, they were ready to give up this sing up fee anyway.. Try go to chat and ask.

  • My experience trying port to these guys has been horrible so far, so thought I would share the story to add perspective on buyer choice.

    • Applied online using mobile_act code, but was charged $10 sign up fee TWICE.
    • Was called by Spintel the morning after submitting my sign up details. The person calling me asked to verify a bunch of personal details (name, DOB, address, email, phone) and sounded like a scammer. I hung up with them to research the contact number and reach Spintel at another time directly.
    • Turns out that they were legitimate calls, but Spintel sources it's customer support offshore to the Phillipines - which explained why the call had such high levels of static.
    • It took 50 minutes the first time to connect with them, but I was hung up on because the call didn't connect on their side. Call quality was extremely low and this is probably due to outsourcing their support. I had to call once more and wait another 50 minutes.
    • Reached them, shared my details again, asked about the two $10 charges despite using the code, but was told nothing could be done until the charges showed up in their accounts.
    • I then asked if she knew how the promotion code worked (does it add a $10 discount on next bill?), but she had NO idea what I was talking about. She forwarded me to the "onboarding" team, but instead of being forwarded, the call was disconnected.

A huge waste of time, and honestly wish I went with Jeenee's deal $(22.50) or Kogan's 12 month deal ($20.90 per month, but prepay $254.30). I chose Spintel because I appreciate having my data disconnected when I reach the cap to avoid any extra data fees and the OPTUS network was favourable.

Huge regrets so far, thought I would share.
