Belong Mobile $40 SIM Only Plan Starter Pack for $20 (50% off) at Coles

350

Actually this is an old deal comes back: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/367407

Found it comes back in comments, so goes to coles, the price tag still says 40, but when you scan it, it is half price.

Think it is worth to post it as a new one, since most people did not dig that deep to 2 months and read its comments.

  • Unlimited national & international calls & text included.

    Not bad

  • OP do you know when/what the expiry date is on these?
Like when do you need to activate it by?

    • +2

Searched everywhere on the package, does not find any expiration date. there is an "production date: 01/11/17" though.

Have not activated sim yet, waiting my current plan to expire so that I can port my number on 5th June.

I would avoid Belong, if you don't mind having shitty customer support and can deal with being (profanity) over just avoid.

    • I found using the email support section seems to help. Phone calls lead to long waits.

      • There is no phone support for mobile, only broadband.

        • Ah right, I’m with them for internet too.

        • +1

This is correct, not sure why you were negged. If you call and press the option for mobile support, they play a recording that tells you to go to the website and log a support request then hang up on you.

I have done so before and got a response within 15 minutes.

Sounds like pretty much every other teleco provider.

Anyone know if double data promotion still applicable… Ie 30gb for $40 plan

    • I activated a sim yesterday. Gave me 15gb and says 15gb will be added on the 12th may. Will find out tomorrow for sure.

    • Yes, the data got doubled.

  • Any know if you can activate on this $40 plan and then switch over to the $10 plan bringing over the data?

    • +2

      Yep. Have just done so.

      • +1

        Great! thanks for confirmation.

      • Very interesting.
        Is the below correct?
I port to belong $40 sim.
At the end of the 30days change over to $10 plan.
The remaining data rolls over with $10plan and 2month with belong?

    • +1

can anyone clarify me: I go to store and buy this 40$ pack using 20$ cash, then I activate it to get 15GB data for the first month, and after one month expires, I switch to 10$ plan and carry over the 15GB, so in total I get 16GB data next month (assuming you don't use any data the first month). In a summary, I spend 20+10 for 16GB and 2 month phone calls&text messges.

      • +1

Yep. In fact my first days were free so got 15gb and another 15gb first official month. Then switched to $10 for next month.

        • thanks!

  • Can you use the sim from this and port at the time therefore getting 15GB and bringing current phone number.

    .

    • I ported my number from telstra using this. Took less than 5 minutes.

  • +1

I've been with belong for six weeks and will be churning before my rollover. Their sub-standard Telstra network access means I lose the ability to get data and even make and receive PHONE CALLS when I visit my Uncle and Grandmother. This isn't in the outback, this is Bentleigh East and Caulfield in Melbourne!

I been with lots of carriers and MNVOs including Telstra ones, but for some reason Belong is different because it is rare I have seen "not registered on network" but this is now common in said locations.

And not having phone support is icing on the cake.

    • +2

can I get your leftover data please?

  • +2

had Belong for about 4 week. 45G data for first month. beautiful. No issue in Sydney.
request to terminate through the phone app. not reply straight away but they come back with useful information.
and they disconnected after you confirm that.

the belong is monthly plan, not prepaid. careful if you need that only for a short time period.

  • This deal was posted part of the half price Coles deals for this week.

Sorry if it's been asked before, does anybody know if you can activate it on the $10 plan straight off the bat and have $30 credit for the following months to use? eg. 4 months @ $10.

    • I don’t think so. Whatever the preloaded credit is the plan you signed up for. But why you would want that? $20 for $40 comes with 15gb as base then you just switch to $10 and retain the 15gb?

      • Fair enough. I was hoping otherwise. I'm barely use a few hundred mb normally and 15gb would be overkill for me. I thought I might be able to reduce my monthly cost for the first 4 months.

    • +3

you definitely can do that, you can split the $40 into 4 payments and it will auto debit $10 each subsequent month for a total of 4 months, it will say $30 credit remain after the initial $10 month, however this means you miss out on the big 15gb but if you dont use much data then you can stretch the $40 longer

      • Awesome, thanks for confirming :)

  • Is this prepaid?

    • -1

      no, postpaid.

    • this is prepaid per the title.

      • title description is incorrect.

      • Doesn't say that in the title?

        • they just changed it, but this is clearly prepaid, you are paying FIRST hence the pre?

        • @Balls: might have to bind your credit card. and get auto-charged each month. i assume there is no recharge voucher. working same as sim-only plan without fix contract ?

        • @Balls: In the CIS Belong calls it postpaid, presumably because you are signing up to a plan and have to give them a payment method, and notify them when you want to leave, otherwise they keep charging you. It's just that the starter pack will have some credit so you won't have to pay anything at the beginning.

But the boundaries are blurring these days.

  • Do you know abt network coverage?

  • +1

    Belong have been great.
    Elcheapo Telstra.
Haven't found an issue yet in my normal use.

Anyone know, can I activate a belong number for test, if I like with network then port my number? I mean two weeks later?

    • you can port in ,and after two weeks, you can port out. or you can register a new number to try.

      • Great! thanks for confirmation.

  • Theoretically, could I buy 10 of these and gift all the data to one SIM?

    • Yes

      • Does it have to be activated in different names or can I activate all under one name and move the data?

        • The name doesn't matter..it only requires a different email address per one mobile number.

  • Belong online chat said double data promotion ended 2 weeks ago.

    • I definitely got it this week. I have another sim so thinking of activating that's too.

      • Bought it today. Do I have to activate it before Tuesday?

        • +1

The data renews every 12th of the month so if you activate it on 11th then you'll get the same amount of data next day straight away

        • @elcheapo: thank you

  • I thought this is a prepaid plan, and have signed up….n can I terminate this. Is there any cancelation fee?

    • anyone still getting double data?

      • I brought one from Auspost and just got double data (15 GB + 15 GB) yesterday.

        • how did you know you got double data? Hoping for one as I just activated today with the 15th GB plan.

  • is this deal still active?
