It's pretty small to be the maximum size to fit through the Panama Canal.

  • Thanks OP, hang over cure sorted.

    • -7

the faq? nooooo…… when you start drinking take a bcomplex tablet and half a teaspoon of pink salt. when your drunk and going to bed. take another bcomplex tablet, about a teaspoon of pink salt (shot it in something if u want) and a magnesium tablet.

      ZERO hangover

      panamax does nothing

      • +8

Panamax gets rid of the headache….no?

Your method sounds ok, but I don't think I'll be carrying a bcomplex tablet around with me when I go out for drinks lol.

        • Paracetamol and alcohol don't get along, it can seriously f**k up your liver. Stick to ibuprofen when you're hungover.

        • @gilbarc: I use this which is combination of Paracetamol and Ibuprofen and it works great.

          https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/82601/Mersynofen-Par…

        • @Homr:
Each tablet cost nearly 100 times as much as the panamax in the deal though. Cant u buy normal ibuprofen and this deal and take 2 tablets? Quite the premium for the combined tablet to save you about 5 seconds.

        • @Homr: if it contains paracetamol, it's a bad idea to use it for a hangover. Stick to just ibuprofen.

      • Any science behind this? Can’t find any explanation on google

        • +6

There's no science at all - the best way to avoid a hangover is to avoid drinking too much alcohol.

        • +2

@klaw81: b vitamin metabolism and uptake is alcohol sensitive, so it makes sense to ensure you eat well if you're a drinker - or anybody.

There is no link to hangover severity and micronutrients. Just drink less, like klaw said

        • @pensionday: Painkillers like Panadol or Ibuprofen makes the hang over less painful though.

      • +4

Salt (any color) is a diuretic, the opposite of what you want when drinking alcohol.

        • +7

But THIS is pink salt, it doesn't obey the laws of osmosis because it has been blessed in a smoking ceremony by a Himalayan herbalist…

        • +6

Salt is not a diuretic, it does quite the opposite. It promotes water retention.

  • How much does this stuff actually cost to make? Insane.

    • +3

      From Wikipedia :

It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, the most effective and safe medicines needed in a health system.[20] Paracetamol is available as a generic medication with trade names including Tylenol and Panadol among others.[21] The wholesale price in the developing world is less than 0.01 USD per dose.[22] In the United States it costs about 0.04 USD per dose.[23]

      • +1

thats like $1-4 and this RRP is $1.99! so always a bargain?

      • Note a dose is two tablets for adults.

      • -7

the most effective and safe medicines needed in a health system

        OK …

Paracetamol toxicity is the foremost cause of acute liver failure in the Western world and accounts for most drug overdoses in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paracetamol#Adverse_effects

Wikipedia is a website with an attitude that a 12 year old child, a marketer for a drug company and a Professor who create medications are all valid people to be writing articles about anything at all including say the health effects of medications. They all know as much as each other. They can all write equally valid articles. Mashing it all together and then editing it thousands of times continuously and seeing what comes out.

It is riddled with errors and unreliable.

        • +6

what are you on about? all drugs when abused are dangerous. At recommended doses, paracetamol is on the WHO list of essential medicines because its effective and affordable.

  • Rejoice my liver!

  • 0.69? 0.nice.

  • +1

35 upvotes? Are you guys kidding me?
So you didn't buy a pain killer for $1.99 but all over it for $0.69
    WTF?

    • +4

I upvoted, and brought it for $1.99 last week

      • I bought it for 1.99 too

probably cost me more in fuel and time, if I go back, return and buy again to save me $1.30

    • +1

I wait for this deal each year

  • now to find other stuff to buy along with this so the clerk doesn't judge me

    • Unless you can make meth with it, I fail to see why anyone would need to buy this in bulk to make the saving worth while.

    • The clerk won’t care. Although last time I bought it she told me “2 tablets 4 times a day”.
      Fair enough i guess.

    • good idea, cover it up by buying condoms!

      • Let's see if she suggests 4 times a day then!

        • Two at a time.

  • Thanks.. how's this compared to panadol?
Also what's usual expiry date? As cant see that for online order.

    • +5

works the same for me, same ingredients, same dose

    • +1

one i brought last week instore was 11/2020, hope that helps.

    • +2

      FYI,

the tablets are powdery/crumbly vs panadol, which has a smoother coating.

But if that doesn't bother you, in the end same effect anyway.

      • they aren't like that to me, normal tablets

    • +1

Exactly. The medication is the same, the compound is different. It can be a little difficult to swallow. But when they're 0.69 cents each compared to Panadol at 12c each each, then Panamax is clearly better value.

    • +2

Identical active ingredients… just different "sugar" coatings… oh and with Panadol… the retail price incorporates the high marketing, retailers' incentives and in-store product placement (They pay pharmacies a premium for the best in-store 'real estate' so that the product is always within sight when you walk into a chemist) … just purchase generics or Panamax in this case… your wallet will thank you…

Disclaimer. Always take under advice of medical practitioner ot pharmacist.

  • +14

They also have a generic ibuprofen cheaper than the brand names.
I laugh at anyone who pays $9 for 12x panadol tablets.

  • -4

These are really economical as they so hard to swallow you only take one when you absolutely have to or when a guest needs one.

    • -1

Soooo true! I have to bite them before swallowing, but they're so bitter it makes it a challenge.

      • +14

Are you guys not taking them with water ?

I put two between my front teeth then a gulp of water, goes down easily.

    • Pfft,

I once swallow two tablets without water or any forms of liquid. It got stuck in my throat!!

    • Swallow a cup of concrete first and you'll find these tablets quite easy.

  • Thanks OP :).
    Time to stock up :).

    • Online ordering limits purchase to either 1 or 0…. Purchase in store is easier.

  • Thanks OP, been waiting for this.

  • -1

This is below cost price, it will probably be in a bin to look even more discounted. Come in, buy your 3 packets of panamax, your toothpaste, fragrance etc. Marketing done right.

    • -5

behind the counter -it's paracetamol . can't be sold from a bargain bin.

    • +1

LOL No, this is Schedule 2 because of the quantity per pack. Can not be in bargain bin. Notify me if you find some sitting in there - I know a few people who look after QCPP accreditation as well as QLD environmental officers (yes they're the ones enforcing it) who might be interested in CWH malpractice.

Also yes, they are well below cost. CWH get hefty rebates from Sanofi so don't lose a dime.

  • +5

    Get it India!!

    (They're made in India)

  • +7

If anyone has a Good Price Pharmacy around them, they will OW-style price match this by 10%. = $0.56 per box (From $1.99)

    Disclaimer: Associated with GPPW

  • Excellent price OP.

  • +3

Still $1.99 in store at Watergardens this morning (And no, I wasn't there queueing up at 8.30… or maybe I was).

    • could have shown them online price.

  • +1

    Health sorted!

  • +1

I thought Paracetamol was gonna be prescription only?
Is that coming in in July?

    • +2

Imagine having to visit the GP so you can take a panadol

    • Codeine is now prescription only, since March I think.

      • He was poking fun at the draconian, nanny state drug laws.

  • anyone know the use by date on them?

    • +1

The pack I bought today was 12/2020.

  • Great for cleaning electric iron.
The actual price of this product is much higher.
Sold at loss by the ditributor I believe.

  • Any way to negate the shipping cost without spending $50?

  • Wow that is seriously cheap! Glad I live next to a chemist warehouse haha!
