Dell is currently having their Cyber sale with up to 40% off laptop and up to 50% off business laptop.

What caught me is this fully packed Dell Inspiron 13 (which I believe is the current 7370 model) for sale for $1379 delivered. EXPIRED

  • Intel® Core™ i7-8550U Processor
  • Windows 10 Home
  • 16GB DDR4 Memory
  • 512GB SSD
  • 13.3" FHD IPS Touch Display

3 year onsite warranty is $189.99 extra. 1.4kg. Up to 9 hours and 31 minutes with an i5 so this i7 would have more reduced battery life.

If you want a gaming laptop with GTX1060 and are fine with last-gen CPU (although there isn't yet a i5-7300HQ replacement yet), you can also get this Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming for $1,349.01 delivered. It comes with

  • Intel® Core™ i5-7300HQ Quad Core
  • Windows 10 Home
  • 8GB DDR4 Memory
  • 256GB SSD
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 6GB
  • 15.6" FHD IPS Display

Again, $189.99 extra for 3 year onsite warranty.

    Thanks scotty, bought the Inspiron 13. Good to see you posting deals for other than Lenovo products -;

  • No deals on the New XPS 13 with 16GB ram.

  • Cashreward 3.5%

    • +6

      Shopback 6%

      • Thanks for beating me. I always wondered if we can use multiple cash reward site for the same purchase. Does anyone know? For e.g can we use both cashrewardand shopback to get. 6+3.5= 9.5% cash back for a purchase from Dell?

        • +1

No it won't be possible. Sale will be attributed to the last cashback site you clicked on.

        • @scotty: Ah thanks for the confirmation Scotty

  • The gaming laptop seems pretty good. I heared the metabox will also have early eofy sale.

    Metabox or Dell??? 😂

    • Metabox wont come with OS, so depends how OOTB you want things.

    • Metabox would be better if you're going to be gaming more. The dell throttles more easily.

I've got the exact model listed here and it has never throttled in my experience. Temperatures rarely exceed 75 degrees even in hot weather with no air con, with the CPU pegged at 3.1GHz turbo speeds. I've yet to see a 7577 review that doesn't mention its great cooling capacity. Check this review for more info, they managed even cooler temps than I did.

        • I guess they improved it on the 7577 then. My experience with the 7567 has been the opposite, cpu throttles down to 0.8 Ghz within 1-2 hours of gaming.

    • I have had both the metabox was better bang for buck at the time. Yet I always felt the build quality wasn't as good. Then again I use an XPS for my field notebook

  • Looking for a gaming laptop that's going to last me a few years as I work away from home and can't take my desktop. In general, should I opt for one of the middle range brands? The recent Lenovo deals really interested me, but then I saw these Dell ones and I just don't know what to do now haha. If I opt to buy a $2k+ laptop, will I be better off in regards to motherboard quality etc? Or is a Lenovo upper class perfectly fine? ( carbon X) etc?

    • Carbon X isn’t a gaming laptop it’s an ultralight/ultrabook geared towards business usage.

      • Yes true, my mistake I meant the gaming laptops

  • for the 7000 Gaming can i use HTC vive on it? just not sure about the CPU…

    • +1

      It's marked as VR ready.

It has basically the same performance as a vr minimum specced PC (ie i5 4590). The i7 version is a bit faster, but if you're just gaming then the i5 is fine, and it should handle the vive easily.

I have this exact model and I have used my vive on it a few times.

Short answer, yes you can use the vive on this.
As I said I've only used this for my vive a couple of times when I was demoing the vive to some people at work when at home I'd normally use my desktop. But I've tried a range of games including space pirate trainer, super hot, windlands, arizona sunshine, rec room and startrek bridge crew. All worked without issue, all were at default settings at 1.0 super sampling you may be able to push for a little more (probably 1.2 to 1.4 ss but I doubt you'd get much more than that depending on the game). I did get some re-projection with Arizona sunshine but nothing I couldn't ignore.

Some things you may want to consider
The CPU in this is "good enough" but I'm not sure how much headroom there is for future games.
8GB of ram is enough for the majority of games right now but dell have installed it in single channel configuration in this unit I have seen some minor performance gains around switching apps in desktop on this unit by adding another stick.
256GB for the SSD is again "fine" but you'll probably want to add more soon enough. (Luckily they do have a spare 2.5" drive bay the only limitation being you're drive must be under 7.5mm

In general I really like this laptop the build quality is good (except the trackpad feels a little loose) the keyboard feels great to type on and the screen looks really good to my eye, but I do sometimes wish I'd waited for the i7 model that has the same specs except it also comes with a 1TB spindal drive and 16GB ram.

Does anyone know approx shipping time from experience? I'm in Adelaide.

    • +1

Mine was pretty quick. 11 days to Melbourne, delivered in Jan.

  • Why is the higher specced one cheaper than the lower specced?

    • Integrated graphics vs gtx 1060

      • I mean for the Inspiron 13 Configs excluding the Inspiron 15;

        Inspiron 13

        • +2

It is just that the higher specced is under offer and lower specced is not

  • Im first time user of cash rewards , im trying to use the shopback and just registered on their site, it say cash will be in your account in 2 days, so i pay the full price on Dell site then i will have the cash back in my shopback account? is that how it works? appreciate the help on this

    • +1

      How Cashrewards works.
      How Shopback works.

They are actually very similar. You click on the link on their site, make purchase at Dell, and the transaction will appear on cashback site's account within 2 days. You cannot however withdrawal the cashback until a few weeks later (after the transaction has been confirmed and paid for by Dell).

      • Thank you , just purchases the Inspiron 7370 model

  • Seeing if I can get Lenovo to pricematch their L380 for the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 - with the same specs they want well over $2k!

  • Hi Scotty, do you know if extra storage (SSD) & memory (RAM) can be added on to Dell Inspiration 13 ?

    Thanks

    • +1

Memory might be soldered on, but SSD uses M.2 connector and you can download its service manual from Dell.

      • Thanks mate

So tempted to get this. Considering getting a small ultrabook for coding, work (RDP/Citrix) and random stuff while on the go, chilling out at a cafe and/or traveling. The Inspiron 7000 looks pretty good for this.

  • I think this deal is expired can’t seem to get that price showing

    • Yup. Marked as expired.
