    Awesome, thanks very much

    Nice :)

    Am guessing they're matching Aldi:

ALDI's the hero we need but don't deserve.

      • +12

There is that mental dilemma of wanting ALDIs tool offerings to keep coming so Bunnings keep price matching, so want to support ALDI by giving them sales but then like this one the bunnings offering is often better quality so you buy from them.

Just so long as plenty of others keep buying ALDI tools all will be well I guess

      • +4

Aldi seems to be the only competitor that Bunnings have now.

        • +4

          Which is very sad.

Surely there is space for a competitor between trying what Masters tried, and trying to sell tools every 6 months in a supermarket…

        • @samfisher5986: I had the exact same conversation today. We need a Chinese company to set up a hardware store importing hardware direct.

        • @subywagon: sounds good but maybe not

    • +2

Bunning's price matching of certain ALDI tools seem quite random, there seem to be some they match but others they don't, has anyone been able to make any rhyme or reason of it?

      • Usually aldi front page specials like the outdoor settings/ storage’s boxes. Aldi will have one or two items that they put on the front page and advertise. But with very limited stock. Which Bunnings will have a similar item that they always stock but will lower the price for a longer time. Beating usually the price, quality, stock levels & how long the price is discounted for. Considering most of the aldi specials will be lucky to last the morning. Front page specials notoriously selling out within the hour of coming on sale.

Unique items like this. It’s a good chance for bunnings to show customers that they always stock these types of products.

Masterful chess by bunnings. Considering the cost & planning of having to source and advertise a handful of front page products that excite customers enough to line up in the morning. To have a giant like bunnings having to put no planning and no extra effort other than reducing a few items. On a similar product that’s been a big expense to their competitor.

        • Yeah but unless people visit places like OzB, not many people are going to know about the specials. A simbiotic relationship if I’ve seen one.

        • @ATangk:

You don’t shop around when you want to buy something?

You see a right angle drill attachment available @ aldi in a week. Probably don’t know what the price of it is elsewhere. Want one, maybe can’t get to an aldi @ 8am on Saturday morning, can’t be bothered getting up early and lining up to possibly miss out. Duck into bunnings during the week to buy anything and check the price of their right angle drill attachment. See it’s cheaper, possibly a well known brand, heavily reduced, you buy it there and then and save yourself the hassle on Saturday morning lining up at a grocery store. You & Bunnings win, you don’t have to line up at an aldi on a Saturday morning and you don’t buy any of their products. Now possibly thinking that aldi isn’t that cheap for tools. Or that Bunnings will match or beat aldi prices.

        • @stickymoo:
If I needed a right angle I would have bought it before seeing it st Aldi.

        • @ATangk:

          Nah

All I know is that the #1 reason they do it is to make people not buy from Aldi so Aldi stop selling tools.

They are very good at kicking competitors out of the market, Masters wasn't that great, but most of it was Bunnings.

  • +3

Currently don't need it but have needed one in the past (usually while the shops are closed and I'm stuck under a car or house) so cheers OP, I'll definitely be adding one to my collection :) Great price!

    • +1

"currently don't need" applies to most of my purchases of bargains from this site. I agree it will be a valuable addition to my kit, and get me out of a tight spot as some stage.

  • +3

Wtf is this, at 7$ buy now think later?

    • +2

lets you drill around corners…i think :P

      • +1

Not unless you have hex drill bits.
It let's you screw in tight spots where a drill won't fit.

    • +3

if you dont know what it is, you probably don't need it. Save yourself the 7 bucks

    • +1

      It's for drilling square holes.

  • +1

Price not updated in store. Prepare for a long argument with them (I did) unless it is updated in store when you buy it.

    • Is $7.94 significant in some way?
I bought the Ozito drill sharpener for the same proce today, but the store prices hadn't been changed. It scanned at full price too.
Had to direct them to their own website to get the discount

  • -2

    Price error?

    • It WAS a price error but fixed now (thanks to ALDI)

  • +6

So Bunnings originally wanted $50 profit that is 625% markup on it? Nice to see how lack of competition drives it to a new level of profit nazi

    • +1

they are below cost. sometimes its about keeping a customer happy that's more valuable.

    • I’ll be buyers no it from Aldi just on principal

  • +2

Don't need it right now but I will be buying it as it will come in handy at some point.

  • The last time Bunnings matched the angled drill bit holder I think it was $10 (?) and the chunky version like in the Aldi catalogue linked above. This one the Bunnings site at least looks much less bulky to use in more spots.

That said can't think of previous times I've needed to drill at a right-angle.

    • +1

Many uses - if you're into woodworking (forgetting to pre-drill after you assembled a chest of drawers) or removing a hard to reach screw when under your car

  • Cheers op, wanting to drill some non-removable shelves in a cupboard this weekend so this is perfect timing!

  • +1

OzBargained? Link is taking me to Bunnings home page?

    • Same. Price error?

      • Still works for me.

        • Doesn't even bring back search results from the Bunnings search bar.

        • @schwinn: maybe it's only in NSW

  • Just got the last one from Sunbury, price came up as $60 after some investigating on the site they gave me the $8 price
    Thank You OP

    • Maybe you triggered them to review the price.

    • Got one at South Morang at 10.00am. Correct price at register. 3 more there at that time.
Lots of drill sharpeners still there.

  • yeah, i cant load it on the website anymore was about to drive down and grab one.

  • I don't see it listed on Bunnings site - even after a few searches.

  • Bunnings Woodville had 7 while I was there, but they wouldn’t honour their website (while it was still working).

    • +1

This doesn't surprise me - now Masters is gone they have no direct competitor.

The other things that really bother me about Bunnings:

      • they never tell you what the old price was on 'specials' so unless you've had your eye on something you never know whether it is a good deal or not.
      • they stock so many 'exclusive' items it's impossible to understand whether its a good deal.

      Bad for the bargain hunter!

  • Got one from Bunnings Keperra in Brisbane, a few more are left on the shelf too.

They stated it was a price error and had to override the $58.50 sticker price to $7.94.

They are sold out of the drill sharpener.

  • got one with full price years ago. awesome tool, very useful.

  • well - that went quick! I was just about to head out the door …

  • Still full price on PowerPass website to order.

  • +1

Just came back from Bunnings, and managed to get one - the checkout person was a little confused, came up at $58 on the till. I was buying the sharpener at the same time (also at $7.94), and I showed them the website on my phone and they honoured the price shown.

    • Was this after the listing went down?

      • Don't know. I had the page on my phone already, and I just showed it to the checkout assistant. No idea when it went down :)

  • +1

I love how their site just goes to a page that says "Our Range". I"d ratger have a 404

  • Still 2 at Ringwood as at 2pm. Rings up as 7.94. Why expired?

  • Hi guys, i just came out of Bunnings Ashfield, NSW just now and showed them the deal from Ozbargain and still bought it for $7.94. Plenty of stock still.

  • Got one at King Meadows about an hour ago, scanned at $7.94. They had 3 left.

  • +5

Got two of those from Broadmeadows Bunnings a couple of hours ago. Scanned at full price. I pointed at the sale sticker. The guy wouldn't believe it. Took the sticker down and gave me a talk that "some shifty people print out sale stickers and then buy stuff at lower prices"?! It's that easy, eh? Should have known before. I've got a printer!

Had a couple of arguments on my own (can't type that here). He called the manager who had similar reaction. They kept looking at the sticker (I expected that at some point someone would take out UV light scanner, microscope and chemistry kit to run some test on that piece of paper) checked numbers on it and scanned the item at least half a dozen times. One of the employees checked their website and couldn't find it.

Manager went off to check with asdfkjsadfasdf (whatever he said) and came back 10-15 minutes later. Whispered something in the guys ear and walked off and I got the stuff at the sale price.
The guy behind me who was listening in from the beginning went back and took the last one :)

Thank you Bunnings for the experience.

    • +2

Seems to be not worth it in that case

  • I hope you all got heaps ,
all I got was abuse by manager at Browns Plains store.

    • +3

Tried again at a different store and got 1 , tool department knew all about it and said it's a promo item on sale til the 30th with more stock due Tuesday.

  • Can someone please post a picture of the item with the sale price from the website?

I was just at Bunnings. They had 2 left but at the original price.
The packaging was different than the one shown in the listing here. Not sure if they were the same.

    • Packaging is different .
But I'm techmalogicaly challanged so I can only describe it as different but same.

    • +1

When the website was still up :)

      https://imgur.com/a/4WjOTd7

      • Looks basically the same but completely different to what I bought.

  • Still 3 left at Coffs harbour. No sale ticket up but scans at right price.

  • +1

This is one of the most controversial Bunnings sales threads for a while. It's ironically the opposite situation to a regular Bunnings deal here where clearance items are store specific, but here it was listed on their site but not applied consistently at stores.

  • Thanks. Picked up in WA. Ticket $58.xx scanned at 7.94.

    • Which store?

  • It's not coming up on the online site

    • -1

      No shit

  • Bunnings Bayswater has 11 be quick hawthorn has 4 and shepparton has a full box of 29

    • How to find out stores stock level?

      • Call up

        • Thanks

  • Canberra Tuggeranong apparently has 9, so said the belconnen store when they checked stock. It scanned at correct price for me. The belconnen store was supposed to have 2 and fyshwick store 3, but i think staff are holding them for themselves. The bloke at fyshwick had pulled the last 3 for himself and family.. the one i bought looks same as in the online picture.. he said its promo price till end of month.though its no longer on the website

  • Altona & West Footscray had none at 3pm, but apparently some low stock at Highpoint & Sunshine (+ Port Melbourne had 9).
Altona had the $7.94 sticker (West Footscray too), the bloke there said someone just bought 5.
Colac had 1, but scanned at full price. I mentioned the sale & what the other stores told me, she wanted the website, but then it wouldn't load (as described above), but then she decided to sell it for the sale price! Nice win 😀

    • the bloke there said someone just bought 5.

      Bloody broden

  • On this one you got to give bunnings credit for honouring the website price.

There's a lot of illegal reneging goes on, and Bunnings pulled it from the website but honoured the advertised price today in a professional and reasonable manner.

Good for them for doing the right thing.

  • Called up a few stores and finally found one with stocks but they said price match was only yesterday. So I guess those stores still have stocks now are those who won’t do at this price anymore.

  • Scanned at reduced price yesterday afternoon in Tingalpa Brisbane. No problem. Staff member joked his lunch was dearer. Several on shelf.

Found I was driving past a Bunnings & remembered deal - wasn't that interested, but It looks a well made device, so bought.

Surprised this was marked Expired 2 days before I bought!

    Worth finding instore!
    No longer listed on site.

    • Plenty of stock at North Lakes Bunnings. However item scanned at the higher price and staff refused to price match as item is no longer on their website showing the lower price.

  • This is available at the new Majura Park Bunnings. The old Masters store Canberra airport for the discounted price, they had 3 on display at 530pm

  • Found some stock so got it scanned to check the price but has gone back up.

    • Iprice went up about week n half ago
