Hey all,

was comparing prices with shopping express since one of these is in the open box sale and eglobal has it for $100 less.
not sure how long it will last and still trying to decide if I should grab it myself (my flatmates DSL-N55U_C1 seems to be acting a bit flaky lately)

anyway enjoy!

Awesome router with 8 LAN ports

IF only you had the modem version available, with competitive price OP. You have one immediate buyer :)

  • Bought one from them at this price just over a week ago, expected it to be a "pricing error" and not to honour it, but it turned up at yesterday!

    • a DSL-AC3100 Dual-Band Asus? How much?

    • Have you tried the Media/File server with a usb HDD plugged in? If so, were you able to stream movies to a tv or something smoothly?

Great router but I had to return mine 3 times due to failure after 1-2 months use. I am on number 4 now and it has been solid so far. Lucky I had local warranty.

    • i had to send back a tp-link $260 router …..lucky was local warranty

  • Is this any good? Is NBN compatible?

    • +1

Yes for FttP & HFC but no for FttB/C/N.

      • Thank you. It appears I'm on HFC (soonish).

      • Hi Joe888 - I don't quite understand. This is a router, right? What difference does the internet connection make? Why will only certain internet connections work?

        • NBNCo provided and installed FttP NTDs and HFC modems on premises whereas customers supplied their own VDSL modems with FttB/C/N/dp. This deal is a router only.

        • @Joe888: What? I got FTTC the other day, it's the provider modem which plugs into an NBN box that plugs into your phone socket.

        • @Manny Calavera:
I think you're right. NBN Co provides a NBN Connection Device Box. Who provided your router? Was it from NBN Co or your RSP?

No, FTTN needs a VDSL modem, but this model (RT-AC88U) has no modem. The model in the WP wiki is the DSL-AC88U which indeed does have a VDSL modem built in.

      • HFC

Pretty sure this will not connect to HFC and you will need a modem.

        • yep, use their modem in bridge mode and add your own router ….

  • What extra does this provider over the AC68?

    • 20 extras

Well a word of warning, these guys are my worst experience on ebay, in thousands of transactions I've never had problems like I did with them.

Forget any concept of warranty. Till your PayPal protection expires you are ok…

    • Reading internet reviews on warranty claims with them, seems to be awful. Such a good modem but if sh*t hits the fan, it seems you are on your own.

      • tp link and local suppliers not much better, i had to raise an rma with tp link before local supplier would take make the roar and send back to tp link ……tp link tech support line you need to,re “1” every 2minutes or drops call and start again at front of queue ……
you can’t just go on ho,d hands free and wait for an operator .

took 36 minted and 18 “ press 1 to remain n hold or call will drop” to get the rma so i could send back the router ….. not like walking. into jb and they swap it if it’s dead.

  • Isn't there a difference in specs between the aussie version and OS ones?
