[SA, VIC] Uniti Wireless 24-Month Contract Unlimited Data 50Mbps Download up to 20Mbps Upload $69.95 Per Month + $100 Install

141

There's also a new cheaper 24 month 25Mbps down and up to 5Mbps up plan for $44.95 a month plus install. Note this cheaper plan has a 300gb data quota.

Very competitive pricing imho and as a customer I can't speak more highly for their customer service and quality of the product, particularly for those still waiting or unsatisfied with NBN.

Anyone got first hand experience with their services? Unfortunately I live in an area without cable nor NBN and the ADSL2 speed was atrocious.

    • +2

Brilliant service. Customer service can be a bit slow sometimes

      • Well their coverage barely misses my area :( Guess no deal for me then. OZ internet seem like 10 years behind even some 3rd world countries

    • -2

Depends on what you want to use it for. websites and streaming are OK. Gaming is rubbish.

      • +1

Fine with my VoIP. Haven't used for gaming but can't see how the latency would affect gaming worse than VoIP. Have you had a Uniti connection that was no good for gaming?

  • how about the real speed

    • im on their 25/10 plan and Im getting 26/12 (waiting till end of month for 50/20 to kick in)

    • I'm on a 50/10 plan still, and get exactly that when I speed test…waiting to change over to the new 50/20 plan

    • I've been with them for about 12 months on a 50/10 plan and have consistently had those speeds for the entire time - count me as a very happy customer. Looking forward to taking advantage of higher speed plans going forward!

  • +1

I think the prices look reasonable if the speed is accurate.

The coverage map shows the whole of Adelaide is covered, but when I type in a friend's address near the beach, not available.

The coverage map shows the whole of Melbourne is covered, but when I type in my friend's address, not available.

    • +2

Selecting an address does further analysis in real-time, more accurate than what they have precalculated for the map. Deceiving…

    • You need line of sight to the towers for this kind of service. Could be that the two addresses you've searched are just in a bad spot and blocked from seeing the tower.

      • His issue is that the map shows available until you search an address do you know it's done.

Face value it looks like they can service everyone, but in reality they can't, and they also won't due to reaching capacity at their towers.

Look at the uniti will whirlpool thread for a better indication on service… Keeping in mind these plans aren't live yet and the network issues along with it are yet to be know.

  • +1

Their map is optimistic at best.
Based on trying a number of addresses it’s line of plausibility rather than line of sight.

  • pretty devastated these guys cant service me at my future address in maribyrnong…not that excited about having to sign up for ADSL2+ again after getting used to optus cable :(

  • So is this their own network?

Given the speed that data pricing is dropping, even on Telstra, I'd be wary of locking yourself in for 24mths.
If they're only starting out, what happens when they start adding customers on & the network get congested. you're stuck with a slow network.

    • They aren't exactly "new" but they haven't been around too long either. This is their latest attempt at grabbing customers into lengthy contracts (previously offering $ for referals).

Unlimited with the nature it this technology I can imagine to be a bit of a gamble, but they seem to think their Network is capable.

Edit:own towers which will piggyback you to a backhaul which provides the interwebs

Not sure if this is a bug, but when you sign up they allow you to tweak your plan. I was able to get 50/20 for $48 a month by capping my data at 300GB. Sure I'd like a bit more, but that price is insanely good if they honour it.

    • Plans are made to be customized, 50/20 capped data for that price sounds about right.

      • +1

For $3 more than 25/10 @300GB and a full $22 less than 50/20 unlimited I'd say that's a deal in itself, especially for most singles and couples who wouldn't get much out of unlimited data.

  • No service for SE Melb. Back to ADSL 2 I guess.

Jass linking a Telstra broadband deal won't help people like me and others who only have access to slow adsl2

        • It will help those who only want faster internet until NBN arrives in their area and they are in Telstra's HFC footprint.

It's basically identical to this deal over the 1-12 month range, just no up front and 15 mbps less upload.

        • @jasswolf:

Sorry, would prefer better upload speed

        • @vash12: no need to apologise, but read the deal again: it's a month by month service until you have a better alternative.

I've been with em for just over a year now…..can report when the service is functioning 100%, the speed is what is advertised…I've been on 50/10 since day 1, and its generally been solid, besides a hiccup towards the end of last year, which I was reimbursed for…..they have a whole lotta more towers going up and going live soon (supposedly) They new plans which are currently being launched a very fair price in my opinion..The CEO actively participates in the whirlpool forums, and responds to all the rants etc,.highly recommend if you can get it, dont worry about the 24 month contract, because your rubbish VDSL NBN connections is possibly much more than 24 months anyways! If you move house and cannot get Uniti, there is no contract penalty..

    • +1

Like you I've been with them a little over 12 months with minimal issues, when there has been an issue they've been proactive in sending me an email about disruption to the service and we were reimbursed for the disruption - much better service than our previous provider overall.

  • Downloading and surfing is ok. But when it comes to gaming, it’s questionable.

    • -3

I have seen the same issue with Uniti. Lots of drops and lag. Terrible for first person shooters and the like that require a good content connection. The service is good for looking at websites and watching streaming services. The more I hear about Uniti the more I hear about leaking roofs as well.

      • +2

I haven't seen anyone relate Uniti to a leaking roof anywhere on line. Where have you seen or heard this?

  • +1

I've been with them for 5 months and highly recommend them. I'm especially pleased that I'll be paying $30 a month less for my plan from now on with unlimited data.

  • +2

Actually if you want/need 100mbit (which NBN fibre to the node can't achieve in 90% of cases) then this is also a no brainer.

  • +1

I'm also an existing and happy customer of Uniti for the last 18 months. No dropouts, and great customer service - I've used the web chat many times and never waited more than a couple of minutes. The customer services people will phone you immediately from the chat if you request it.

My ADSL with both Optus and Telstra normally would run at 5/.2, and now having 25/10 is great. When my friends complain about their NBN connection I just laugh at them. Yes, I have line of sight to the tower from my roof - if you don't have line of sight you're out of luck. The disk and antenna is not aesthetically appealing, but I was happy to do it.

I just did a web chat with customer service about this deal:

This week existing customers will be moved over to a plan with increased data at no new cost. The speed changes will still need to be applied for and reviewed by our engineers. These speed boosts and plan changes can be applied for when our new customer portal is launched. You will be sent an email with more information this week once the data increase occurs.

Another very happy Uniti customer here. Had been stuck on 7Mbit ADSL2 for years and with the NBN at least 18 months away from my suburb it was a no-brainer.

Everything was installed and set-up within a couple of days from my initial phone call and the installer was friendly and respectful. Signed up to the 25/10 speed plan and got full speeds, within a few weeks I moved to the 50/20 then 100/40 plans, again with full speeds, see my speed test results from the last month here - http://i63.tinypic.com/eb57ip.png

Uniti won’t sign people up if they think their tower cannot handle extra connections and have said they have plans in place to cope with the new unlimited plans. They are also still running a promotion of a $200 gift card for new customers with a referral (ask me for my code!) which basically pays for your first 3 months.

Online chat support has been excellent every time I have used it, although they have been under the pump the last couple of weeks with all of the changes to their website, customer portal and new plans so have been a bit slower. As mentioned, the co-owner and head of customer support are also active on Whirlpool.

Uniti have been great for just on 2 years now since I joined. Call centre in Adelaide CBD, talk to a local or live chat from the website.
No problem streaming Stan, Fetch and YouTube on multiple devices at the same time. VOIP quality using MNF has been flawless.
Speeds are very close to advertised in peak times.

We have experienced very minimal downtime with all outages being rectified within hours instead of days or weeks experienced on fixed line services.
No charge to the customer if they cannot get a good signal at your house.

So good I even got my parents to sign up and they love it and getting more consistent speeds than they received on NBN HFC.
    Many Thanks.

  • Just a warning, if you sign up for 50/20 and they can only supply 25/5, the charge is $64.95 per month for unlimited data on a 24 month contract. I'm left with the decision of not having unlimited and saving $20 a month or paying $5 less than what I expected and losing half the download and three quarters of the upload speed. No clear indication of what overage costs are either.

And this was after being promised I'd absolutely get 50, after applying for 100. Turns out there's a neighbours tree in the way that will degrade it further as the tree grows.

    • Bloody neighbours tree slowing your Internets.
As they are always adding new sites, your antenna may be re-pointed to a site that will allow 100 soon.
Keep applying for speed upgrade and call every few weeks asking for any new sites in your area.
