  • awesome headphones, imo better than the much loved sonys and bose

picked up a pair for myself and the gf when catch had them for ~$180. highly recommended and a steal at this price

    • +3

Which Sony and Bose headphones have you owned and are comparing them to?

      • -1

QC35 and the 1000xm (version 1). Both of which never impressed me

once you play around with the settings on the parrot app these things rock. The build quality is better than both imo and you dont look like a robot (profanity) with them on

        • +4

And how is the battery life? Also really impressive you went from such top of the range headsets with raving reviews to a headset that has gotten such poor reviews - . I wouldn't even consider BT heapdhones that can't last half an international flight, let alone a full day of listening.

Apparently 12 month warranty is the killer, these headphones are notorious for dying after 12 months - see amazon reviews as an easy indicator. There is a reason these are so cheap now.

Given it's crappy BT audio processing and abysmal battery life, this is primarily a corded headset.

          @OnlinePred:

IMO the bose and sony are not top of the line headphones, they are consumer headphones which rarely go on sale

its bluetooth processing is fine and works flawlessly at my home, office and gym. The battery life is on par with the sonys and bose headsets, i average about 7hrs with these vs about the same on the sony/bose headsets

the noise cancelling is better than the sonys, and the actual noise isolation of this pair is better than the others which means you can turn off noise cancelling when you dont really need it

All the reviews ive seen and complains that have been made are on amazon, not actual audio sites. Plus 12 month warranty doesn't worry me, these aren't wired earbuds, no cords to get damaged etc. Like i said, the build quality is better than the sony and bose headphones, the sony's are notoriously bad.

          @cansydint:

          lol @ the downvotes.

          https://www.reddit.com/r/ZReviews/comments/600le5/parrot_zik…

They sound great, treat them properly and they will last. They are $150, buy a set now, abuse them and get a new pair in 12 months.

        • @cansydint:

          Actual audio review: https://www.whathifi.com/parrot/zik-30/review

It shows you didn't own the QC35, as I regularly got over 25 hours.

While I haven't owned the Sony's, they are rated to compete against QC35 at 20-30 hours https://www.whathifi.com/sony/wh-1000xm2/review

They are wired, although all audio goes through the NC processing, so if that breaks (which it will), then you can't hear anything.

        • @OnlinePred:

if you push your Qc35 headphones at a high volume what battery life do you get? mine died after 8hrs of pushing the volume, plus the sound stage is tiny compared to these. (same as the sonys)

ah yes, whathifi, the best resource for headphone reviews….

        • @cansydint: I value my hearing, I never use them at full volume, it's the reason I got ANC headphones…… If I wanted to blast my ears I would have got cheap iems.

Even my cheap work Sennheiser 4.40BT last over 30 hours (no NC but significantly better output than QC35/Parot -I haven't used the Sony 1000xm2). They aren't as comfortable as the QC either and don't look anywhere near as good. But then again they are new from JB for $199 with 2 years warranty.

        • @cansydint: i get 20+ hours out of both my Sony 1000X and QC35. Why would you "blast" them? you buy NC headphones to save your ears, not murder them. The beauty of active NC is that you don't need to turn the volume up to be able to hear them well.

If woollies does 20% off Catch gift cards again though, i might have to pick up a pair of these Parrots for shits and gigs :)

        • @xyron: Agree with xyron and OnlinePred - easily get 20+ hours with my QC35s, absolutely love them.

        • @cansydint:

if you push your Qc35 headphones at a high volume what battery life do you get? mine died after 8hrs of pushing the volume,

Just friendly advice. Please get your hearing checked because you are likely causing if not already caused serious hearing loss listening to such high volumes.

For those questioning that hey i can still hear so no hearing loss here. Hearing loss is not a there one day gone the next in most cases. Its gradual tone deafness till it get to the point of complete hearing loss.

Sometimes it could even be worst that total silence. Due to damage to your hearing you could have a constant ringing in your ears.

          See below:

          What Causes Tinnitus?

Prolonged exposure to loud sounds is the most common cause of tinnitus. Up to 90% of people with tinnitus have some level of noise-induced hearing loss. The noise causes permanent damage to the sound-sensitive cells of the cochlea, a spiral-shaped organ in the inner ear. Carpenters, pilots, rock musicians, street-repair workers, and landscapers are among those whose jobs put them at risk, as are people who work with chain saws, guns, or other loud devices or who repeatedly listen to loud music.

    • I would be interested to know what kind of battery life you get on these. The fact they only get 8 hours battery life and still use Bluetooth 3.0 was a real turnoff for me. I do kinda like the green crocodile ones though :)

      • Reviews put it at 7hrs without ANC.

      • bluetooth 3.0 vs 4.2 doesnt make much of a difference.

my airpods had more weird dropouts when my phone was sitting on the ground vs this pair

battery life is around 7 hours but i use them at a high volume, turning off noise cancelling (they have amazing noise isolation) extends the battery life

they also have onboard sound stage software and hardware which is saved in the headphones themselves (set once and forget for all devices)

        • bluetooth 3.0 vs 4.2 doesnt make much of a difference.

          Hahaha.

I don't even think this guy owns any headphones now.

  • also for $169 can get the headphones and wireless charger
