CamelBak Forge 16oz Insulated Travel Mug - $17.50 Plus Delivery (RRP $49.95) @ Wild Earth

FGH678

I have been looking for a new travel cup for my morning cold brew. My research lead me to the Camelbak Forge, which got a great review for ease of use, cleaning and leak proof capabilities: (https://www.yourbestdigs.com/reviews/the-best-travel-mug/)

Generally selling for $40+ on eBay, I found this one for $17.50 + delivery ($7.95 for me). Only available in this colour, which may not suit some people. I like it, so I grabbed one.

Also for sale on the Wild Earth eBay page for the same price. There doesn't appear to be a current eBay sitewide percentage off deal, so their own website is as good as eBay.

Just found a 10% off code FGH678 thanks to sween64 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/380258) but one of the conditions is no sale or clearance items, so it may not work.

  • Code does not work but picked up 2 anyway for my cold brew to take to work

    Shame it's pink

    • +5

Colour is a case of personal preference. Just because a guy does not like pink does not mean he is homophobic

      • +2

Yes it might clash with his lippy.

Zojirushi makes some pretty damn nice insulated containers

    • +7

Zojirushi is a scam. The water or coffee is so hot if you put it in boiling in the morning it’ll be time to knock off work before it’s actually cool enough to drink.

But actually wtf is with their vacuum flasks. Nothing beats them.

      • +8

        A product so effective it's scam-like?

        • +2

I always end up burning myself…

        • The cretins!

      • Tell me about it! I'm always surprised when I go to drink my coffee 8 hours later, & it's still fairly warm.

      • +3

Been told you need to pop it in at the right drinking temp.

    • Yep zojirushi is the go

I just did a bit of research on a Zojirushi 20 Oz mug. If you guys want to have a bit of a laugh, check out the question - "How does it know whether to keep the drink hot or to keep it cold?" :) Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/ask/questions/Tx16ZFQPUC0WCUL/?

The Amazon question/answer section is like banging your head against the wall. They must get some incentive to answer though, since I see thousands of the following:

Q: "Does this come with xyz?"
        A1: I don't know, I haven't got mine yet
A2: I saw John Doe holding an xyz out in whoop whoop, so I think this one does too but I haven't bought it
A3: My neighbours dog who owns a totally different model but thinks xyz is another way for the government to track you.

Probably just other bored Ozbargain types wanting something to amuse themselves while waiting for the next bargain.

    • My only problem with my Zojirushi is that the opening is too small to comfortably swill cold beverages — you can only get little pink-coloured sips from it and can't take satisfying gulps. For exclusively hot bevvies it's great though.

For something that will work well with cold and hot the Camelbak Chute seems pretty good.

      • I understand exactly what you mean. For that I just unscrew it and gulp it down. I wonder if you can do the straw tricks to pass more air into it and drink faster.

  • S'well is much better

    my morning cold brew

What's wrong with a stubbie holder?

    • Okay I giggled, what can I say, don’t drink & drive kids!

      • +1

        Don't drive kids!

  • Contigo is not bad choice.

    • I have 3 contigos (2 old lid style and 1 new) and loved them.. But crud builds up in the old lids and the new lid leaks. Actually both of them leak when I carry them in my bag. Have bought one of these too see if any better. Thanks for the link to the review op.

      • OP's linked review shows contigo doesn't look good. I had one for over a year but didn't leak at all.
Anyway, I ordered this one to try. thanks

  • Tiger makes some pretty damn nice insulated containers.

    • +4

Nice try, but the elephant beats the tiger.

    • Agreed I got mine in Japan. Keeps ice for more than a day.

  • Shipping sort of kills the deal

    • +2

How so? Even with shipping costs it still beats rrp and beats the cost that other places charge.

  • grabbed 2 thanks OP

  • I’ve never seen so many alternative recommendations posted in the comments before

    • Better here than the condom deal post

  • Thanks OP! grabbed couple cheers :)

  • was very close to purchasing this but then I found these:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Camelbak-Chute-Vacuum-0-6L-Therm…

https://www.kitchenwarehouse.com.au/Contigo-Westloop-Autosea… (lowest price it has been was $15 on OB)

I will settle for the contigo because of the look

  • Thanks Op.. Grabbed 2 to optimise shipping $8.95 to SA. GOt a Contigo currently but its shared between myself and the missus but awkward if we both want to take a travellor

  • Just picked 2 up. Currently using Zojirushi and Tiger. Will be interesting to see how cleanable the Camelbak is!
