My order was fulfilled by Synnex for Microsoft. That explains why there are so many of these. There could be other distributors doing the fulfillment. Ingram Micro could be another one.
So in a way, Microsoft is helping those distributors clearing their stock.

If that's the case then one of their suppliers must've discovered a metric crap-tonne of unsold stock at the back of their warehouse. The current listing is showing "Limited quantity available / 1,023 sold" and only 61% sell-through. That suggests there's probably another 500+ left to go! It's a shame we can't bump this on the front page, I reckon more OzBargainers would still be buying one if they knew stock was available.

Funny thing how the controllers I ordered yesterday arrived this morning and the controller I ordered on 28th May has yet to arrive.
It might depend on which distributor handles / processes the other order and which particular warehouse of that distributor. The most recently added batch from Microsoft could be from a distributor that's closer to you and might not have so many orders to process yet.
