Do you still have to pay $10 for HD?

    • Yes

      • +12

At this point its a total (profanity) joke.

  • +16

    Smell that? It’s desperation

    • +5

Yeah, there are always Free Months + No Contract deals at this time of year. Expect them to heat up towards 30th June.
There's only so much creative accounting can do to make the financial reports look good. Adding several thousand customers that contribute absolutely zero revenue is another way.

BTW, you can easily get Platinum HD + Foxtel iQ3 for $89/month; and Sport HD + Foxtel iQ3 for $39/month… if you ask for it.

  • and will this offer disappear in 24 hours like the last one?

  • +2

I got IQ3, free install, no contract with entertainment and sports for $39per month :( I knew I should have negotiated.

    • Going to try and get this package, any advice or just simply call and ask?

  • +3

No HD, no sign up from me.

  • +2

Cheaper to get netflix or stan

    • Cheaper to get a $2 Telstra sim and Free Foxtel now :)

      • How?

        • How is it cheaper or how do you redeem the offer?

It's cheaper because $2 for 6-24 months access vs $10+ per month.

The offer has expired now, but everyone with redeemed accounts can still use.

        • +1

@pennypincher98: haha nah I think just about anything is cheaper! Was wondering about the specific deal. Thanks mate

    • I prefer dtv now, share it with a friend (or two if you pay for an extra stream) way better value.

Can't wait for Foxtel to die off.

  • Good if you want to add another point for your HFC connection

    • +2

Actually, Foxtel aren't doing HFC installs anymore. All new installations and box upgrades are 100% Satellite only.
NBN is finally kicking them off the HFC network.

      • Would they not put in a new point if you request? For"Foxtel"

        • I'm not entirely sure, you're best to ask them.

My understanding is that there are no more HFC set-top-boxes. All existing HFC premises are "upgraded" to satellite.
Existing HFC customers are slowly being moved to Satellite.

        • -2

          @guidedlight:

They are still rolling out HFC connections…
They just recently recommenced rolling HFC out after remediation work on the network

        • Nope. Satellite installs only even if you have Telstra cable access

    • All satellite now

      • "Nearly five months after the temporary pause on all new orders over its hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) access network to fix technical issues, NBN Co will begin a staged restart of wholesale HFC services sales to retailers from 27 April 2018.

The company behind the rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN) plans to initially release around 1,000 premises in HFC access network footprint in Melbourne and Sydney.

Altogether, NBN Co said it is planning to release around 38,000 HFC premises by the end of June in select areas across Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Meanwhile, from July, NBN Co expects to ramp up the release of HFC premises to retailers, with forecasts that the rollout could hit up to 100,000 premises per month."

        • +1

How do you get NBN out of Foxtel?

        • @asa79:

Lol it's been a long day.
          Ignore me.

        • @swimmingtoad: All good, we have telstra cable in front of us, and if we went for telstra cable with their foxtel included, they would supply cable internet via the cable and foxtel via satellite which is very strange. I am just waiting for the NBN to do the install as Telstra want to charge for the install even on a 12 and 24 month contact now days

Why not just get a VPN and go down the terrarium tv and kodi option? It includes live sports channels.

    • Sometimes convenience is greater than cost

  • Free aids yay!

  • Still surprised anything Foxtel does makes it to Ozbargain.

The only thing I want is formula 1 in HD and to be able to record it when it's in the middle of the night.

Yes sir, you'll need the base pack $26.00
    Then the sports pack $29.00
    Then the HD pack $10.00
    Then the IQ box istelf.

$65 + cost of box (which I can't find at the moment) for 1 channel I actually would like to watch.

Netflix and Stan with thousands of TV shows and movies are like $15 each or whatever.

Foxtel should be permanently banned from OzBargain.

    • I too want Foxtel for the F1, see eskylidder’s comment above. $39 for the HD sports package with iq3 seems reasonable

      • Does anyone know if SkySportsF1 works in australia (with use of VPN) ?

      • Missed that one. Thanks sssboi.

Well, yes, it's better, but $39 really still is a bit for a channel I'd only watch on weekends (or every second weekend and not at all in off-season).

And he doesn't mention HD so could be $49 with that.

Look, there's plenty of people willing to pay it, I just don't feel like it's a "Bargain" in any way shape or form personally. Just my opinion.

If I was the only person that sold clothes pegs in the whole world - does it justify me to charge $10 per peg?

My personal dream is for everybody in Australia to cancel their subscriptions on the same day and Foxtel in it's current form to die. They can only be resurrected when they join the current century wrt pricing and sales models lol.

        • $39 deal is basic with Sports in HD. Iq3 and no install fee. Not sure if it’s still running though.

  • I got IQ3, HD,Sports, entertainment and dram for $55per month. And I still use Kodi, terrarium tv and PopCorn.

  • Platinum for 3 months free, now on $75 a month for next 3 months (For sports, kids and HD)

So $25 a month for 6 months in theory

WARNING: If you enter your phone number as part of sign up then, even if you don't place the order, they will try and contact you multiple times daily from random phone numbers.

    • I can verify this. They called once/twice a day with different (Australian landline) numbers. So annoying
