        Their words not mine

You typed the title, and it's misleading.

Do you know what 'cash' is?

    • There might be a chance of no $100 at all. Last sentence of t&cs above (italics added for emphasis):

This offer may be changed or withdrawn at any time at MyState’s sole discretion.

  • +1

So $88 for opening and closing a bank account assuming they pay you in the second month?

    • +2

Or you just transfer $2000 in and out for those two months, costing yourself a minor amount of interest.

      • True.

      • -8

costing yourself a minor amount of interest.

Depends who you borrow the $2000 from…

      • If PayID actually works with these guys (unlike St George and their offer) then I suppose I could keep all my interest by instantly transferring in and out with ING?

        • +1

PayID worked with no issues for me, I found out ING has a $1000 per day limit, but NAB and Mystate were happy for me to transfer $2000 each in a day.

        • +1

@Miss B: ING have $1000 per transaction limit. I have transferred 1000 x multiple times through pay ID one by one with no issues.

        • +1

          @Miss B: so transfer $1000 in/out over 2 days?

        • +1

@muncan: (I’m waiting till 1 June to apply to avoid chance of $6 monthly fee this month)

        • Edit, read the original comment.

        • +1

          @DerpFactory: Deal expired nevermind

        • @muncan: which deal has expired ?

        • @ashftc: It seems that like Miss B I also have the $1000 per day limit with ING's Osko (as per https://www.ing.com.au/pdf/Orange_Everyday_Fees_and_Limits_S…). You're lucky.

    • Having sold out for $50, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/374707, I think they will pay it on the 1st of August. They take the $6 on the first of the month, so if you open at the end of the month, you'll need to transfer the $2000 before the 1st and you'll need to do it for August. I assume I'll get mine on the 1st of June, it doesn't look like anyone has received the $50 yet

      • Oh no. So since I just opened an account and can't withdraw $2000 I'll be losing $6 for this month it seems.

        • +1

You may be able to call them and set up internet banking. I transferred in my first partial month, so I'm not sure if they may waive the first month fees automatically. I think I've heard some banks do.

        • @Miss B:

Thanks. I was thinking of doing just that. But St George didn't allow withdrawals until I verified my ID in person at a branch (and with previous banks at a post office, or NAB).

Based on your previous comment about ING I suppose I could send $1000 via normal method, $1000 via PayID (if can be setup today) and transfer back with PayID.

        • @Miss B: I just read ashftc's comment regarding ING's $1000 per transaction limit.

        • +1

@peterpeterpumpkin: it takes few days to setup payid sending capability

        • @peterpeterpumpkin:
They accepted my online ID details without verifying. I might have been lucky that mine was opened on the 26th April, on the 29th (I didn't try earlier) I was able to doy transfers to and from the account.

      • Will wait until June too - good idea

  • Damn opened an account when they had a $50 promo for using apple pay

  • How difficult is it to close an account with these guys?

    • +1

      Same question

    • visit your nearest branch or call us to close any account you no longer use.

  • +1

Also interested to know how easy it is to close account.

  • +4

    Their name is a mistake

    • +1

      *mystake

  • +1

Accounts can be closed with a simple phone call.

  • So, theoretically can I PayID $1000 in and out and in again to meet the $2000 monthly requirement? I can't find the exact offer wording.

  • +1

Sold! 100 is 100 can go long way ozb way

  • +5

I would wait and open the account after June 1 to avoid fees for May.

    • +2

And them possibly pulling the offer due to over subscribers

      • +1

        As they did :)

    • Also to avoid getting $100.

  • +1

You can send them a message via internet banking to waive the monthly fee for the partial month. In some cases they automatically do it.

Mystate use Osko and instantly transferred my $2k out.

    • Thanks.

I rang them and they said accounts set up in the last 24 hours are not accessible yet and also can't be setup for phone banking. The operator said I should try late in the afternoon (which may be busy) or tomorrow.

  • Overseas ATM fee
(may incur a fee charged by the ATM operator) $5

    Foreign Currency Conversion
Per transaction 3% of transaction amount

    Card Replacement Fee
    Within Australia $10.00

These are largely out of market for clients who would switch banks.

    Inactive Accounts
    Per month $2.00
For any savings or transaction account on which you have not transacted for at least 12 months.

Is this on top of the $6 month account fee? wow!

  • -2

Nah, too much work for $100, especially given the risk of getting stung by an account keeping fee

    • -1

$6/$12 (potentially $0) for $100 is a no brainer to be honest.

  • +2

to be safe just apply on the 1st of june to avoid monthly fee for may

    • Or miss out for being too late..

      • +1

its call gamble.. life is full of gamble

      • and i lost this time. but there are still many chances out there

  • +1

The offer has already expired :) ozbargained!

    • +1

Now when I ring them I'll have to confirm I'll get the $100 in case they pull a fast one…I'm not risking 5 - 63 cents in ING interest.

  • I get a "The MyState Bank Everyday Account offer has expired." :(

  • Can the $2000 be deposited and removed immediately or next day. Or do they need to be there for the complete month ? Also do they do credit check for opening the bank account ?

  • Signed up, but there's a good chance they'll pull the offer. No internet banking sign up details yet either

  • "The MyState Bank Everyday Account offer has expired."

    • Ditto =[

    • just before 10am I opened the account then I saw your statement. Rang them just now and was told my application just made it in. But I think it is because I told them I want to close the account if I am not getting the promotion offer. IF that is the case, I guess calling them would make your application in

      • Oh wow, if you do get the 100, can you please keep us informed? Everyone who signed up before you should also get it (in theory)

  • waaaatttt

  • bloody hell what a joke !!!

  • +2

ozb power can make a bank gives up their promotion

  • Did anyone save the offer or in google cache?

    • I did. Can you still use it?

      • Please keep it just in case they dont want to honour it.

  • I signed up last night and received an email saying my account was opened successfully. Does that mean I made it? Or did I need to receive the internet banking details.

    • call them and ask. and record the conversation, or ask written confirmation email. its worth $100

  • Bugger

  • troublesome for us opening up took over 24 days for wife and still can not do payid from one mystate ac to the other and still haven't got visa debit card so might miss out on apple offer. they wanted use to post in id even though it was verified online we told them forget it then they changed their mind lol.

  • +2

Does anybody have a print screen of the offer?

  • They were fast to end the offer.

    It was only up for 5 days (24 - 29th I assume?)

  • +2

They processed my application and opened the account on 30th May, then charged me $6 account fee on 1st June. Called and asked them to remove the $6 and they agreed. Also asked if the offer is active on my account and they confirmed yes and I'll get the cashback as long as I make that 5 transactions within the 30 days. (Signed up at 7.55am, when the offer was still displaying)

  • What a joke, applied last week and final screen popped up and said "error! Call to verify identify documentation". Could not go back and edit application, so I called this morning and they couldn't find my application until after they put me on hold only to discover it and that its status was "not successful". The representative told me that Mystate was unable to honor the "declined application" that I completed during the promotional period, hence no $100, meaning no custom from me. Bye

  • Has anyone received the $100 yet?

    • on or before 1 August 2018

      Not yet.

    • Still no here.

    • Still no here.

      • Yup, nothing here either. Last business day would be Tuesday. Let's see what happens.

  • I havent received the credit,these liars

  • +3

Just received mine $100. Cheers OP.

  • Came through this afternoon!

  • Filled all requirements - no $100!

Will send them a message if it doesn't come through tonight

  • Got mine today
