Ad was found on the second last page of this weeks Waverley Leader local paper. It consists of a full page of other advertised products from The Good Guys at Chadstone. Be aware their website has it at a not so insane price of $358. Specials run from the 18th to the 23rd of Jan.

Don't know whether Good Guys have stock or if it's a typo as I took the ad into Officeworks and they honored it. With 5% off I picked it up for $284.05

    Hi guys, i own 3 ipod touches - 1 the latest 4th gen 32gb ipod touch.. i used this site to get from officeworks for $337 which was and still is awesome price, so $285-$299 is amazing. The new ipod touch which has retina display and a camera is awesome. I had the previous 3rd gen 32gb and its vgood but the latest one is tops: For facetime for example its even better than iphone 4 as u can use it on the go the whole time while iphone 4's need to be in wireless network - i use 2 types of prepaid mifi- the virgin mobile huawei e5832 device i think its called.. and believe it costs around $99 now with a certain amount of gigage.. then u have wifi on the go.. ive also picked up the new ZTE telstra mifi product which gets much better next g coverage and vfew dropouts.. it costs $129 at officeworks and has 5gb prepaid over 90 days to use.. combined with using a wireless network at home and a basic mobile phone on prepaid.. which actually works alot better than the vaverage iphone 4 as a phone - the ipod touch 32gb at $285-$299 vs the $999 outright iphone 4 -well i love the ipodtouch and mifi solution! on the weaknesses side: the biggest problem is camera.. the itouch camera is rumoured at around 1megapixel.. which sounds awful and its not great (i carry a canon s90 on me for real photos) but with the new iOS photo apps like Instagram and hipstamatic and picplz and photoshop express, photofactory, camerabag etc - the "effects" filter gives that tokyo polaroid effect but its nothing on the brilliant iphone 4 - 5 megapixel with flash camera.. but id also say itouch is vgood at video and better at facetime if ur on mifi; finally retina display is not as good as iphone 4… but its very close.. and when i compare the current 4th gen ipod touch 32gb to the 3th latest latest model 32gb version- my old one's fonts look fuzzy and awful… so not sure if this will help anyone.. but most around me have iphone 4's and 3GS and ive got 3 ipodtouches running on 2 different mifi networks.. suffice to say the latest ipodtouch 32gb (dont get the smaller size u need the 32gb) with telstra $129 mifi.. combined with whatever spare phone u have around or get a gr8 dedicated phone or android device.. $285-$299 is killer.. id get a 4th but im waiting for the ipad2 with retina display, double camera, video and facetime.. basically all the features which ipodtouch has had for ages now.. not to mention it has same A4 processor inside as the ipad for alot cheaper than the ipad 1 or iphone 4. ok long rant over. hope that wasnt useless 4'ya.

    Guy just picked up 32gig Touch for $299.00 i couldnt be bother going to office works, plus i had $250 dicksmith store card i needed to use. They werent happy with matching price and took a while for them to come round. Just got home checked and firmware still at 4.1 if you guys wanted to know (wink wink jb) bankstown dicksmith im going to head back and get another one cheers guys and thanks for info donkeykong and iyris for awesome find, sons going to be over the moon.

    Excellent deal! Picked one up at $284.05 from Officeworks Russell St, Melbourne. The staff called Good Guys Chadstone to confirm and I overheard that GG still have stock.

      Just like any retail, it's a gimmick, all negotiations are based on what it takes to make the sale without losing money for the company.

      Less for cash?, if they are red hot deals, they won't discount no matter what it says on the storefront.

      Some ppl expect them to discount everything for cash, not so.

      All this means is "depending on what you buy, let's talk"

    I can confirm Officeworks at QV in Melbourne are doing the price match less 5% ($284.05). They've sold a few already as when I went to purchase mine the sales guy said he didn't need to call the Good Guys Chadstone as they had already call them a hour or so earlier for other customers. They may be in the process of lowering their price to $299 as when I went there there was no price tag on the shelf for the 32GB models.

    I just price matched it in Parramatta, NSW Officeworks. I showed the guy the ad and he approved it without calling The Good Guys.

        I think it has something to do with jailbreaking.
        I thought that problem was only with iPhone due to tethered jailbreak or is it the same with itouch, only been hearing by word of mouth

    Did not work in WA. I tried DSE, OW and JB but the salesmen are too bright. They'll all call GG and the reply will obviously be "no it's $358".

        Well I tried OW and DSE in Joondalup so I assume they called the local GG there. Then I was in the city and tried DSE and JB but don't know which one they called.

        It's pointless unless you get real lucky in the case of an inexperienced salesman or the GG phonelines being jammed.

          think it was only the GG in Chadstone that had them cheap so they would have needed to ring Chadstone and not locally, no point in me going to East Perth unless they ring Chadstone!

    When you ask for a price match and the retailer says the price has gone up now to $358 at "The Good Guys Chadstone Lifestyle Centre", do not accept. It was only adverised on the 18th January, 2011, so how could it have gone up. I saw it last night ticketed at $299 and less for cash. There is nothing for the other retailers to check. The telephone call to The Good Guys is just a delaying tactic so that they can try and justify saying no their promised price match.

    Just went last night to OW on Warragul Road with the ad, they gave me the ipod for 284.05 without question. They still have a fair bit of stock as well.

      I tried, it won't let me restore to previous firmware. However, there is a jb for 4.2.1 by redsn0w, just google it & don't dispair. I got it working now.
