Same day delivery? $30 seems steep!

    • Up to 8 working days for processing.

    • -3

yeap, $30 delivery fee is a rip off scam.

Most items can be delivered for about $10 in metro areas.

      • +10

Not defending the price, but how do you get a large item to be sent for less than $10? Its not like a PS4 can be put into a 500g prepaid satchel. Do volume senders get that much of a discount on the regular joes?

        • There's other courier companies who can deliver larger parcels for a fairly cheap rate. Some offer $6 for 20kg local metro. Or somewhere around $15 for almost all other areas. But you need to have volume which I'm sure shopping square has.

    • +2

Seems about right if you enter the details in the Auspost postage calculator. Delivery to my postcode is about $25 with signature. No way in hell I'm sending a PS4 Pro in a satchel.

  • Nice price!

    • It is but I wish delivery was a bit cheaper it will make it a sweeter deal.

      • that's where the scam is..

Lower price of ps4 but increase it in shipping fee.

  • +4

    Does it have australian warranty?

    • no, you get shopping square warranty.

      • Ok, I guess no chance to price match it on JB then

      • But it says shipped from Australia. Wouldn't that imply Australian warranty?.

        • Not sure, check comments below, a few guys are trying to find out the warranty

        • No, they can grey import stock and resell.

  • +1

This is an absolute bonza of a deal. Possible grey import is the only real concern

  • Grey import. Irresistable? Hmmm

    • does that mean the power plug is not original but some spare one for AU power outlet?

      • +1

power adapter is built into PS4, just need a standard computer 3 pin power cable.

        • yes, but do they replace the original with an AU 3 pin one?

ie requires opening up the box etc..

        • @pinkybrain: It's like a normal PC power supply so you just need one of the standard PC power cable:

          https://www.pccasegear.com/products/39819?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI…

        • +1

          @netsurfer:

Yes, I understand that you can use that cable but that is not my question.
I already got heaps of those cables for my pc.

I just wanted to know if they open the box up to replace the grey import plug with the AU 3 pin plug?

          That is my question…

Do they open the box up to replace the Grey import plug with an AU 3 pin plug?

        • +1

          @pinkybrain:
I doubt they will replace the cable inside the box. It is located at one of the side boxes inside the main packaging box. If it is not the AU version, they might / might not give you a converter. If it ended up being the AU cable inside, you will need to check the barcode label.

If you are so concerned that they might open the box to replace the cable, simple, don't buy. It's out of stock anyway.

The original power cable from AUS version of PS4 Pro has no earth pin. It is made in China. Some of the XB1Xs (really early batches) apparently had dodgy power cable.

    • -3

It says shipped from Australia. That's not a grey import.

    • does grey import have an pros and cons?

or the type of games we can play?

Before there use be issues with region coding and NTSC etc.

  • +2

Hmm didn't sony just announce that the ps4 is in its end cycle? Wonder if it'll go cheaper, I've given up on my xbox.

    • +6

They said it is towards the end, PS5 is still 2.5+ years away though.

    • Where did you hear about this?

    • +1

As you as you’ll see an ultraslim version you know it’s happening

    • +3

Anybody else feel like this gen has been a let down? I've probably only purchased 20% only of the games that had this time into the ps3s life.

      • +2

The PS4 exclusives that have come out in the last little while are great. God of War, Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, Detroit Become Human etc…

      • +1

Can't say I'm with you on that, especially on the PlayStation end.

I owned double the games on PS4 than I did in PS3's whole life cycle (I owned both consoles from day one) only 2 years into PS4's life.

I had to buy a new bookcase the other day to fit more games into. Haha.

Xbox One however has been a shitshow until X came along, and even then. It has STILL has next to no quality first party support.

      • Yep, but I think it's just me getting older.

      • +1

I'm so disappointed in my xbox one, I purchased two for my household so that we could Lan halo like the old days, when 5 came out there wasn't even splitscreen… so 2 people at most could play. Not only halo but xbox exclusives in general have been the most dissapointing, mediocre games. I don't even have faith in the new crackdown. The 360 was the golden era of gaming for me, top tier AAA titles and great new IPs constantly, now it's just remake and sequels. Honestly as a previous xbox fan, the next console for me will be a ps4 or ps5 in conjunction with my pc. Sony exclusives are seriously making me jealous.

        • Yeah, my Xbox sits unused now that Forza Horizon is on the PC.

Meanwhile the Playstation gets heaps of use.

    • The president of Sony said something in a tweet like they will release titles for the PS4 till at least 2021, so the next gen PlayStation shouldn’t come out till around that time.

    • PlayStation CEO clarified after that report that you won't see a PS5 until "at least" 2021.

      https://www.wsj.com/articles/next-playstation-is-three-years…
      https://www.polygon.com/2018/5/23/17384050/ps5-release-date-…

    • "Entering the final phase of it's life cycle" was I believe the translated phrasing, but that probably means ~1.5-2 years.

The current "best guess" is calendar year 2020. This is based on roadmaps from the foundries and chipmakers for their upcoming technologies, as well as us getting the very first hints of devleopers targeting future consoles coming late last year / early this year (based on job-postings and shareholder announcements from companies like 2K). It's possible it could come slightly earlier in Q4 2019, but I'm not betting money on it.

      • +1

The CEO of Playstation has said earliest 2021, so all those guesses are not needed

        • +1

He said the phase will last that long, but that's distinct from saying that only at the end of that will there be a replacement. The PS4's life-cycle doesn't "end" the moment PS5 comes out - it will continue to be manufactured and recieve new games coming out for years after PS5 hits, just like PS1, PS2, and PS3 did.

    • No, they said they might be ready to think about a new console in three years.

  • Shopping square isn't the same as Shopping Express.

  • Even the PS4 controller is on sale at $32.21 dollars each? I would buy this if someone could confirm about the warranty. I only see 7 days replacement.

    • I don't think that's a genuine Sony controller.

  • Looking to get in to gaming. What are the bonuses of a console over a PC?

    • -1

      Exclusive games

      • +3

Yakuza is definitely one of them

        • Playing yakuza kiwami atm

    • +4

Uncharted, The Last of Us, Shadow of the Colosus, The Last Guardian, Bloodborne, Crash Remastered, Driveclub, GT Sport, Wipeout, Until Dawn, Horizon Zero Dawn, Infamous, Kingdom Hearts, Little Big Planet, Persona, Nier, God of War annnnnd Knack

Yeah there’s more but that’s what I can easily see on my shelf without moving

Can’t play these on PC, so that’s a bonus of having a PS4 I guess

      • +1

        Nier

Nier: Automata is a Windows title.

        • Technically its a PS4 title which was later released on PC

        • Didn’t know that! Haven’t played it yet so will pick it up for PC when the time comes

      • Phew just realized there is nothing I want for Ps4… Oh wait maybe FF7 remake but I'm sure there will be a PC release for that and probably play better.

Wipeout and Crash Remastered would be the closest thing I would wanna play and maybe Planet Side 2 maybe.

        • Crash is coming to PC.

    • Cheaper to get into, particularly with PC parts being a bit more expensive than usual at the moment with crypto pushing prices up. Way easier to play in the lounge too.

    • Cheaper - easier user experience - especially if you have to build it yourself.

If i were you id decide what need to have.

      Is it exclusive games?
      Is it price?
is it the latest greatest graphics?
Do you prefer mouse/keyboard over Controller?
What do your friends play on?
do you want an upgradeable system etc etc

    • +3

      Consoles:

      Pros:

      • Better exclusives for casuals (mainly for Playstation users)
      • Super easy to get used to, anyone can pick up and play
      • Exclusive membership which gets you free games every month
      • Easy to set up

      Cons:

      • Hardware will get old and will be unable to replace due to rare/expensive replacement parts, therefore you need to buy a new console
      • Some games can be unsupported on some consoles and supported differently
      • Need to pay for multiplayer (hence the membership - PS Plus and Xbox Live)
      • Exclusives are only for one system (Xbox or PS)
      • Graphics are limited and cannot be overclocked or changed according to the user (and it will depend on the game developer to use the PS or Xbox Consoles' graphics to full potential)
      • Games cannot be kept on the hard drive and may require the CD to run it
      • Games sometimes will not support future consoles, therefore rendering the ability to play them for nostalgia purposes (unless the game developer releases a remastered edition, which could be bad or good).
      • Unbearable prices of games that will cost you $40-$100 depending on what day you buy the game, and it may have lost it's hype if you pick it up too late (a perfect example of this is sports games, NBA 2K being one of them, shutting down their multiplayer servers after about 7-8 months after the release of their last sports game)

      PC Gaming:

      Pros:

      • Hardware is easy to change (given that you set up the PC) and can be kept for a long time to support many games (depending on how you build it)
      • Games can be kept forever on the hard drive, even to run them, so no need of CDs
      • Supports various types of controllers, mouse and keyboard being the common controller to use
      • No subscriptions for multiplayer (unless it is for a game pass, in which you can choose)
      • Easy to buy games at ultra cheap price, due to Steam being a popular marketplace for gamers
      • Can be used for other tasks (multitasking)
      • You can choose which parts that you need for the system in order to play a game
      • Vast amount of community support for various games, even if the original developers have abandoned the game
      • You can always find a way to play a game if you know how to look for it.

      Cons:

      • Building a computer will seem tough for some people, and may require extra knowledge on electronics (however it is part of learning and can be fun to build a computer by yourself - there are countless tutorials and various help given by the PC gaming community in building a computer by yourself, if you're up to it)
      • Not all games are supported on PC (such as exclusives for consoles which will be heaps better than some PC games)
      • Will face technical issues, bugs, glitches and other related behaviours in games due to game developers not supporting PC gaming (and only porting the game for profit purposes - have a look at Batman Arkham Knight game on PC compared to the console version)
      • Can be very competitive at times, and has a very tough curve if you're new to PC gaming with a keyboard and a mouse (although there are ways you can use your controller - xbox one wireless controller being fully supported on Windows 10 that is easy to plug and play).
  • +1

is it worth buying this one or wait for a cheaper Slim deal? I don't care about 4K or anything I just want to play games

    • +1

The pro has double the power of the ps4 so smoother frame rates even if running at 1080p.

    • This one because some games (esp. exclusives) offer performance mode (i.e. 1080p@60fps) and super-sampling is now added to the firmware (if the game support > 1080p, it can supersample down to 1080p and get a better resolution - though the implementation is not as good as XB1X). Some games also offer in-game super-sampling. They are better than OS based in most cases.

Slim does run cooler if you don't care about improved frame rate or better resolution.

      • what about livestreamer? can the pro livestream to twitch at better quality?

        • 1080p 60fps streaming can be done on PS4 Pro apparently.

        • You should build/buy an encoding PC to stream PS4 at good quality.

    • I got a cheap slim deal, couldn't stop thinking about the Pro, so ended up getting a cheap Pro and put the slim in the cupboard.
Short cut is go straight to Pro.

  • whats that old song like tapped in the head and your to blame - always comes to mind every time I read shopping square/apus, and people muttering about warranty…..

  • +1

    Bought one. Cheers mate.

  • Old batch and FW I wonder.

    • +1

      Probably less than 5.05.

    • +3

      Confirmed with rep. It’s 5.50

      • Bummer

  • +1

Is this shopping square store reliable? I'm after a PS4 but it seems dodgy af and they have their 'own' warranty….

    • +1

Can you link where they have their "own" warranty. I wasn't able to find it in their T and C. A couple of people mentioned it in their posts but wasn't sure if this was a joke or not. Are you even allowed to have your own warranty lol. Didn't MSY get in trouble for having their own warranty AKA No warranty lol.

      • It's in the Others part of the product link.

Video Games Return Policy If you have simply changed your mind and you are able to provide a valid receipt, we may offer you an exchange or refund* provided that the merchandise: - is in Original Sealed/Saleable condition - is unworn or unused with all original packaging and content included - the exchange or refund is sought within 7 days of purchase. *Refund/Store credit - Postage is NOT refundable - Buyer Pay for return postage - restock fee - 15% of merchandise purchased value will be charged. NO Refund/Exchange for the merchandise is NOT in Original Sealed/Saleable condition.

        • Well that's just for returns by the look of it, nothing actually about warranty.

      • Yeah look just going off what other people have said, based on the productreview.com page for their store they do their own repairs and take forver? Might just wait for another sale.

        • Out of stock now so doesn't matter. Lucky we did our research though, that kind of warranty service sounds pretty dodgy lol.

  • Can you combine this with eBay plus for free shipping or is it not out yet?

  • Does anyone know if these guys provide a tracking number with their parcels?

  • $449.91 delivered for a grey import.
    Local stock has been cheaper.

    • +1

      539 from most local retailers

      • +1

Amazon was selling PS4 Pro for $399 during the opening specials.

And Big W had $419 for PS4 Pro plus Gran Turismo.

Current prices are unusually high. I expect a price drop in June/July.

        • yeah during boxing day i got mine for $389 from amazon

  • Appears to be out of stock.

  • Goddammit! Sold out! I guess the thirst is real.

    • Drink more water.

  • I don't know how Shiopping Square and people who see this call it a deal?

It's been posted less than 3 hours, lerss than 50 votes and already done? Insufficient stock. Moreover, the 2 deals posted late last year before Chrissy were for $380 (after 100 cashback) which was a deal through a rebate system by Amex (or Mastercard?) so this is still pretty overpriced considering what else exists spec wise (X1X) when this should have been more heavily discounted by now…

    • what else exists spec wise (X1X)

People aren't buying for specs, they're buying for exclusive titles.

      • Yeah I literally bought a ps4 pro about a month ago just to play the Last of Us 2 which doesn't even have a release date lol.

However, I do somewhat agree with Roosta in that this isn't really a deal considering the prices it has been previously. For example, I ended up getting mine for 380 during the EB 20% off sale (450 - 70 which I got from selling far cry 5 which came with the console). This is one of those deals which are only good if you absolutely must buy it right now.

    • +2

Votes mean nothing. As of now it's 918 clicks to the link. Even if they had 50, one for each vote, I wouldn't call that low stock.

  • +1

Damn its out of stock, was going to buy one.

    • +8

      Just 1? 😂

  • Description says the power input is 100V…but I'm assuming that all PS4s support 240v?

  • Damn, been looking at upgrading my Slim to a Pro and I missed this

  • Days of Play just announced

    http://variety.com/2018/gaming/news/days-of-play-2018-120282…

Should see a temp price drop on the Pro in about a weeks time

  • Bought one from gamesmen last month with god of war for 509. Sold the game after 4 weeks for 60. So the consile costs 450. Not too bad to me.

    • At least that is genuine Australian warranty stock.
