iPod Touch Silver 6th Gen 32GB $100 @ Target

2100

I was in Target Canberra Centre when I [noticed the iPod touch was on sale. Gold and Grey were down to $250 but Silver for some reason was down to $100 (see photo). There were a few left when I was there.

        • Did you pick it up?

        • @MEGASERVE: nah mate

        • @MEGASERVE: Are there any available in Cranbourne, called up again, waited 10mins got hung up on. :(

        • @Curiouscat: no been there and the lady said there were a lot of people called. They don’t have the same one. Go to job hiFi narre warren home. They will price match you

Don't get why someone -ve voted you. Guys, just because most of us cannot find a store with this item in stock, there is no need to get upset when another fellow OZBer managed to get/reserve one. Just be happy for the other OZBer. There will be other bargains, it is not the end of the world.

      • some people get touchy as there are supposed to be minimum stock levels … stops bragging if there were only 2 and you bought one … and it's a store in Tennant Creek ….

becomes more of an issue if you need to do ring around to individual stores as you can't check stock online… officeworks and JB will look up stock for you cheefully, target do too if you get the right person with the right skill set

Thank you, I bought the last unit at Stirling WA!

They had a heap of 16GB units in other colours at normal pricing.

  • Sad face. I bought the 64gb for $150 yesterday and I asked them about the 32gb for my other child and it was still scanning at $250. I guess they didn't scan the silver.

    • +7

enjoy the 64GB it will hold enough music for both kids … and create the opportunity for sibling bonding as they share it ….nothing like a household filled with love.

      • lol I'm assuming your post contains sarcasm.

      • +1

I have foster kids so opportunities like this is exactly what we need.

    • Wait you can get the 64gb for $150?! Where abouts was this?

  • +3

Pity it doesn’t have GPS otherwise it would be handy for fitness tracking and music when training.

    • You can buy bluetooth GPS thingies that the Touch will hook up to, although at that point you might as well buy a ticwatch or something (has GPS, plays music, easy to carry)

    • Yeah apparently this is really bad for Pokemon Go.

  • nice deal

Hmm, one week before wwdc keynote. Wonder if Apple is doing something funny with iPod line.

    • iPod line is already dead.

    • My prediction is that they will discontinue making iPods, since the sales volume of these things have been on a very sharp downward trend for pretty much the past half decade.

What they might focus on is just more phones, and probably cheaper iPhones with iPhone X-like features. Rumors are that they will also drop the premium iPhone X series which also has poor sales, and might make a cheaper version of it.

      • They might discontinue the X as it as a limited edition and replace it with something else. But that article was FUD and it has been the top selling smartphone since its release. Too rich for me, but there you go.

But if you think Apple are going to start selling reasonably price phones you’re dreamin’

I think the iPod Touch is the iPhone gateway drug.
Can't think of a logical reason they'd remove it from the product lineup.

    • Like putting it to rest?
The iPod touch hasn’t been updated for years. They must still sell some for kids, but it is long in the tooth.

  • Anyone price match at officeworks? Was told that they don't price match/beat for clearance items. Then i read their exclusions and what the manager said was BS, exclusions for clearance items only apply to companies in receivership.

    • +2

They always try to find excuses. They miss the sale that’s all.

    • +2

Typical officeworks BS, I'm surprised they didn't try claiming Target is a Gray importer.

    • worth a try but their policy actually says excluding "Stock liquidations (i.e. competitor clearance products or goods sold by a business placed into receivership)". I think the key words here arecompetitor clearance products.

      • Ow wont do it as they don’t have in stock in store(but stock online) target only available in store for a few store. (profanity) customers service didn’t know what I was asking and kept asking iPad iPad. Shit

  • +1

Why does everyone think this is for music only? lol

    • What else would you use it for besides games and apps.

      • Playing games on it the battery dies pretty fast. And I found it lags even on basic running games like subway surfers. For music it makes sense, small and light with the latest support for all the popular streaming apps.

        • I mean there are some really good apps and games exclusive to the iOS ecosystem not to mention apple exclusive deals and other services and personally a cheap option to an iOS device might be useful to some.

Personally I would be using this plugged in permanently into the wall outlet with a long mfi certified lightning cable and maybe some headphones or earphones. 4 inches isn't much but I mean it is better than no inches.

BTW if you have access to it yet BioDefense Zombie outbreak.. Really cool unique innovative zombie tower defense game. Still haven't found anything like it on pc or mobile.. Makes me wonder what other hidden gems might be hiding in the iOS app store because it was the original and still is kind of the kind of goldmine gems in terms of gaming and otherwise and generally games just run better on an apple device because optimization and specialization of smaller hardware and software device sample to support and take care of.

    • When the deal went up, I had no issue sourcing an iPod from multiple stores in WA. I think your neg is unfair as there was sufficient stock to constitute a bargain. No doubt stock availability is going to be low and no doubt you would have missed out if you weren’t quick.

      • +1

Don't make me call your bluff. There definitely weren't "multiple" stores in WA.

        • +1

Tell that to the online stock availability on the website. Or is that an admission that Target employees claimed the stock for themselves? :p

        • +1

          @gamemaster:

Online stock levels showed 3 stores had stock of which 2 didn't actually have stock. Yes, online SOH is delayed by about 24 hours. And yes, if it was an amazing deal, I would have no issues holding all the stock for myself and other employees haha

When I checked earlier this afternoon Whitford city, Joondalup, Ocean keys, Stirling, Perth City, and Meadow Springs were showing 'limited stock'. I stooped by the Stirling store on my way home and picked one up.

      • That's the spirit, just broden it aye /s

  • I still have my iPod 8GB, actually the sound is not bad.

I’ve just joined up to pass this along to anyone else still wanting to get one/several of these. I went to Officeworks and had them price match even for a different coloured iPod Touch.

    Here are the reciepts:

    • Thanks a lot. Maybe I will visit yarraville store tomorrow morning lol

You were very lucky. I would not do that price match as it's not part of the policy of Officeworks. For starters it's clearance line and our policy does not price match clearance items, secondly the colour has to be the same. So who ever served you has no idea of our policy and should be reprimanded for their mistakes. No price match at Officeworks.

    • you are lucky man…..

  • I picked up one after work. Actually the battery seems to be faulty. It was completely flat when I opened the sealed box and after charging it just discharges within few minutes.

    • +1

Take it your local Apple store and they'll replace it. The Lithium battery has probably been damaged after being left discharged for an extended period of time.

      • Thanks. Will do that.

  • All gone in NSW. Surprisingly website also showed other colours st different prices.

Hey guys, I managed to get officeworks price beat and got it for $95. Ask for ipod first and then show them the link. The stock is available at Macquarie Target store.

    • Nope - no actual stock at Macquarie. I was there at 5:15pm and they were sold out.
But well done on your “win” with Officeworks.

    • Can you post the receipt so I can show my local ow please

  • No stock in Brisbane :-(

  • Managed to grab one from OW. SA Hollywood plaza 5108 still shows limited stock. Funny thing was OW staff lined up after knowing this deal to grab 1 each. Only 1 item per price match as told by staff.

    • Do you mind me asking what store in SA you got it price matched at please.

      • I managed to price match in Bankstown OW in Sydney showing the Available stock in SA Target.

  • looks like all sold out….

  • Success as well price matching two ipod touchs through OW. Thanks OP, great find.

    • Was that online or instore? Also find saying what store?

      • Apologies, missed your question. I price matched through head office over the phone with click & collect to a Perth retail store. I should add that I had to debate this one very hard with the person on the phone as they originally wouldn't price match. But perseverance and logical negotiation won in the end.

IOS 11 turns this into a laggy horrible experience. This is pretty old tech now, iPhone 6 spec with 1gb of ram. If you want to use it to have cheap access to the Apple ecosystem you also have to remember the battery life on these things are awful. Might get an hour screen time. You also can use it as a remote with apple tv.

    • Hmm yeah my battery is woeful and I hardly even use the thing.

    • That explains why the battery on mine just drops within minutes. So it is normal.

      • +1

No it's not normal to have it lose charge within a few minutes.

I bought one yesterday and updated it to ios 11 last night and left it charging using an iPad charger overnight.

Been using it on/off for the past 4+ hours today (playing mp3 mostly and some browsing) and still have 63% charge remaining.

      • Battery should still be better than that. It depends what you are doing and the screen brightness. It doesn't use much battery idling or playing music (unless through the speaker).

Thanks for the post i got 4 ipods (2 blue, 1 gold , 1 space grey) for 95*4 =380$ did a price match on officeworks they just couldn’t believe it I showed them the website and availability in nearest store in sa

All my cousins are super happy for there beloved gifts👍🏻

    Cheers!!

    • Which store pricematched you if you don't mind me asking, keen to get a price match aswell.

    • Can you post receipt please and thank you

      • Will showing a receipt make it more likely they will match it?

  • Tried to price match this morning with OW Campbellfield got refused =(

Got 4 from JB hiFi Narre Warren Home. What’s up?
Receipt coming soon.i got it price match and the guy said no and I got the manager and he said okay.
    Lol

  • I have a 5th gen one and the battery was struggling to last, amazing find for $100.
Picked mine up last night from West Lakes in SA.

Big thanks to OP for posting this and I'm glad I saw it as quickly as I did to get 1.

  • +1

Apparently, OW store managers have received an email outlining not to match with Target Clearance items.
I got one OW rep to hold it for me at $95 price, and when I hit the store, was told to pay $250 :-(. I walked out emptyhanded.

Has anyone been lucky in any Victorian retail stores, please share the receipt

  • will be updated to iOS12

    • Has Apple promised not to put bugs in IOS12 to slow down your 1or 2 gen old idevices like they did with IOS11?

  • Can we get a receipt and JB price match it?
