    • +7

      No Reverse-Kangas then

      • +1

        Just use this http://www.airwick.com.au/vipoo/
        No one would ever know.

        • +29

I poo at work to save on toilet paper, cleaning and water fees anyway.

        • +8

          @subywagon:

Wow how very Aussie of you. Might as well take a shower there as well, would mean you wont need to clean the screen off either.

        • +4

          @fuzor:

Yeah I shower at work haha.

        • -1

@crazycs: or poo in the toilet. Leave it there for 60days, return it and say: "This toilet is a dump".

This thread is full of shit

        • @subywagon: and you get paid for it!

        • @subywagon: DO you "WAFFLE STOMP" to save money too ?

        • +1

@funkydung: Nah, I do that just for fun.

        • +1

@subywagon: be homeless and everything is free

        • @subywagon:

You forgot to mention get paid for it as well!

      • haahahahaha

    • Where does it say that you can return it for a refund?

      • thats standard Aldi policy, not sure how this will apply for the loo

  • Is it me or is the toilet not in the full catalog?

    • +1

You. It is on page 15

      • Only shows up to page 9?

A similar WELS 4 star toilet is $149 at Bunnings. How much would an install typically cost?

    • Definitely looks similar, I wonder what the 3 year in home warranty means.

    • +26

Lots. Plumbers have plumber's cracks because their wallets are always full.

    • +1

      $150?

      • +68

They charge that for knocking on your door…

        • +3

As long as it's not on the weekend and your your happy for them to turn up when it pleases them .
I'm sure theres plenty of caveats to this $300 deal where you will end up paying extra . So while $300 is very cheap I'd be checking the fine print .

        • +2

@troyww: would be interesting to find the feedback from the last time they ran this offer, i'm sure there were some horror stories .. lol

        • Obvious one is "They cant fit it!" cause of the P-trap / S-Trap thing, and blame the plumber

        • @Hellman109: im a diy retard .. and i figured that part out from the pictures at the last sale LOL

        • @troyww:
Apparently it's extra to take the old one away and good luck winning the street brawl to get one .
Absolutely a bargain if you manage to snag one .

        • @troyww: 100% right last time it cleared out very quick… sad fact is i have to choose to either fix my toilets/reno the bathroom (old and waste of money to keep fixing the flush mechanism) or wear my sumo suit and get into an Aldi and try and get these hahaha

        • +2

@scud70: Yes, I'm hoping for feedback about last year too.

        • +1

@troyww: $30 to take the old one away, or diy… not too bad

        • +5

I see the average Aldi confumer being hustled right up to the scheduled fee for a new toilet (as charged by the local plumbing shark job aggregator) in no time flat

        • @resisting the urge: mate is your experience or few assumptions?
I am wondering if any OP had an experience with their last purchases of this deal.

        • @scud70: I am in the same boat.

        • +2

@PJC: I just installed mine a week ago…. booking for plumber was easy, plumber came on the day and finished installing within 30 minutes. It is good quality material and installation. I would definitely use it for my other bathroom. Also cheapest way to replace toilet.

        • @SydBoy: Good information, thanks. I missed out this time because my wife had the car while staying with relatives and I'm not going to try bringing a toilet home by bus.

      • Good plumbers aren't always expensive

The ones that put material screaming 1800/1300 and emergency/24 hour service through your mailbox are firms that farm and sub-farm (contract) the job out to someone anyone who will come to you.

        My tip: Avoid all fridge-magneteers.

Ask your local plumbing supplies counter, who they would recommend for your job. And check out the options whilst you are there, so you can tell the plumber what you need over the phone (great for small jobs where you can help them avoid a coming by to quote). If they can come and quote, and do the job there and then to make it quicker they are less likely to charge as much.

I've had licensed plumbers install gas pipes to appliances that leak gas, pipes in walls that leak gas, pipes to heaters that leak… none of them were expensive but I suspect the reason is that they don't get much repeat work.

Each time I've fixed the leaks with relative ease- ie easier to DIY the fix than have them back

        • +3

hmm fixing your own gas leaks……….smart move….not.

    • +1

Generally a plumber would quote $600 for the cheapest option (including the toilet itself) “but we normally only do those for rental properties” then try to get you to pay $1000 where you might be able to select one or two different models then $1500-$2000 for a toilet with something like KOHLER written on it

    • $100+

    • +6

Back when Masters was clearing out I briefly considered getting a toilet there for ~$100. I shelved that plan after ringing my usual plumber I: he quoted $300-$500 for installation.

I'd take the fixed $299 any day over that…

    • In Sydney I inquired about the installation and it cost between $150 to $800, now that's cash in hand and no warranty on installation. I waited for nine months just for this deal…! I will be getting one.

      • +4

That's a long time to hold it in.

    • yea, handyman is gonna charge you for 120-160 bucks for installation. however, you don't get warranty for service….

  • +1

Ah the 60 day satisfaction / return policy.

" Can you please arrange to uninstall your toilet and then refund me. Yes, I have the packaging, and no, it was used rarely"

    • That's the "Pee Trap"

  • This was in clearance in local Aldi for $199 3/4 months back, No P Trap,

    • Excuse my ignorance what is a P trap compared to an S trap?

Edit: Google is my friend. So it depends on whether my sewage pipe is going vertically or horizontally?

      • +2

        Correct.
One type has the waste point connecting to the floor, the other to the wall.

      • +3

depends on whether my sewage pipe is going vertically or horizontally

You've got some serious biological disorders if yours is horizontal.

        • +1

I suspect it was the result of an unfortunate twerking accident

  • +1

I suppose you will have to also pay extra to clean up the place after the install? Tiling?

  • +6

Aldi's deals are really turning to crap…sorry couldn't resist

    • +14

ALDI's catalogue is flush with bargains

      • +3

At least our money won't go down the drain.

      • -2

        It's a real dump

  • +6

Remembering that ALDI is a German company:

Baron von Richthofen: Ha ha ha! You English and your sense of humour! How lucky you English are to find the toilet so amusing! For us, it is a mundane and functional item…for you, the basis of an entire culture!

From Blackadder Goes Forth, Private Plane

  • +1

Think I might get the filing cabinet. $50 is a great price.

    • +1

      cheaper than the toilet

      • +16

Both are good at getting your sh!t together

    • I got it last time. Good quality well worth the price

      • Thanks for a sensible comment. You've had it for a year then? Rails and wheels still running well?

    • I pooped in that, certainly felt more organized after. Saved $250 too.

  • +6

SOS silicone tape is a great thing to have around the house. Recently the outlet pipe of my 6 year old washing machine started to crumble due to UV light exposure. A new pipe is maybe $25, but requires moving the washing machine, removing the rear, unclamping the hose and back again. Or… just wind this tape around the existing pipe and… done for $6. Its been holding that way for 2 years and isn't affected by UV light.

    • removing the rear, unclamping the hose and back again

Doesn't sound so bad if you put it that way!

  • +20

Go to Aldi for some milk and eggs. Come back with a ceramic toilet suite with installation.

    • And flush the eggs' shell and empty milk box then

  • +1

Boooo, i have a rear waste pipe - no new toilet for you!

    • -1

Next time you renovate change to a S trap.

P trap toilets never flush well.

      • Do S traps only discharge under the subfloor? Currently, my toilet is on an external wall, brick veneer, on stumps. The waste goes from the toilet, out the wall behind the toilet to the outside, when there is a pipe external to the house that then runs down into the ground. Was planning on changing the toilet in the next 6 months and wasnt sure what to get for an easy replacement. CHeers

        • -1

          Yes, S trap to floor.

If you're renovating, definately spend the extra few hundred on a plumber to change it to S trap.

      • Why?

        • +3

P Trap- when flushing you're pushing shit sideways with only a small fall, sometimes it backwashes back into the toilet trap.

With a S trap, no chance it will backwash.

The old P Traps may work fine because you were flusing with 12L of water or so, but when trying to flush with 3 or 4.5L, it's never 100% clean.

I had 2 of the exact same toilets with universal trap, used one in P trap configuration and the other in S trap. The S trap always flushed better.

        • +1

          @JB1:

Performance wise the old system shits on the "greens" version

I am now having to plunge/clean/unblock the toilet once a week due to big "logs" clogging

          I don't mind the extra water used……

        • @8200: wait till you some of the new town houses, they don’t use 100mm sewerage pipes in some of the upstairs bathrooms / ensuites …. they block on a regulat basis.

        • +1

          @8200:

Maybe you need more fibre in your diet :D

To be honest, I haven't had any issues with my Caroma 3/4.5L toilet suites as I'm assuming the bowl is well designed for water saving.

        • -1

I hope your not a plumber….never heard such garbage in 0ver 30 years of plumbing.

    • i have a rear waste pipe

      Doesn't everyone?

    • +6

      Username checks out

    • +7

hey mate, are you talking about your old fella to be 6" tall?

    • +1

      Get outta here baby.

    • This is small or you are big?

  • +1

Dunno about you guys, but this deal gives me the shits

  • Got suspicions about extra charges for non-metro areas, and any new plumbing required. It probably covers simple fitting to existing pipes without anything additional.

  • Anyone have any person experience withh the pressure washer?

    • +3

Not me. I think using normal toilet paper would be much less painful and much less hassle compared to hooking up the pressure washer.

  • +1

Anyone know if the office chair is worthwhile?

    • The $50 office chair I bought from Aldi was good value but is quite a different model. I'm not sure they've had this for sale before.

  • +8

$1.29 Avo. Houses are back on the menu!
