Not a bad deal, but I think the 3 months free offer was a bit better depending on what plan you end up getting.

  • Would you actually get 6 months of free access on a $19/m plan though? The fine print says:

"You will receive $125 credit, applied as 3 instalments of $41.67 on your first 3 bills. Not transferrable or redeemable for cash."

So if you only use whats given in the 19$/m plan, does the remaining $22.67 (41.67-19=22.67) carry over to future payments or does that just go to waste? If not, that 2nd sentence is extremely misleading.

    • Wouldn't your account just be in credit if our on the $19 cap?

      • When Virgin had a similar offer, my account balance was in the negative and I didn't have to pay the bill for 3-4 months.

        • I think you mean in the positive, which is what I was trying to say in my comment.

        • whoops i was meant to reply to the first above you. i do mean negative as virgin bills show how much you owe them. i originally was on the 19 cap during the 3 free months offer. however the salesman botched it and put me on the 29 cap. after talking with them i was changed but the -3x29 remained.

      • Well thats what I want to know. The fine print says it is applied to the "first 3 bills", so that raised some doubt for me. But if you do get the full $125 no matter how much you spend, then I'd certainly consider this offer.

  • Doesnt work with the X10 :( Maybe because its out of stock?

    • Hey Massari!

It Should work with the x10i.
Make sure you enter "altrock" at checkout :-)
      Hope this helps!

Watch out for Virgin mobile. I've been with them for a few months after they promised $100 off my bill for sign up, however, I still haven't received the credit. Also, they like to add additional products onto your invoice even though they were never ordered.

    • +1 for 'watch out' last time I dealt with this mob it took the ombudsman to resolve it. Will never go back.

    • I found that most virgin's billing problems are create by dealer. If they put in the wrong deal in the system, the billing of course will come out wrong. Also many dealer will promise some deal which never exit or not applicable. So the physical contact is very important. You really have to get the dealer write all promises or special deals on the contact properly. Of course I learn all this by the hard way.

  • “You will receive $125 credit, applied as 3 instalments of $41.67 on your first 3 bills. Not transferrable or redeemable for cash.”

That just means for example in the first billing month, you use up all your $19 of calls included in your plan (assuming you get the $19 plan), which is $50 worth. Then, that's paid for. If you go over, say by $20, which brings it to $39, then that'll just be paid for as well by Virgin, so no extra surcharge.

As for your question Dan, yes, that $22.67 will just go to waste, because it can only be applied to your 1st 3 bills. It's just similar to the 3 months free access web special, only you get a little more lee-way (if you're on the $19 cap).

  • I signed up last night with this offer. I also got 10,000 Velocity points. Not sure what I'm gonna do with those yet though.

    • You can trade them for a pack of Virgin branded playing cards!

  • if it goes to waste, then it's little better than the 3mths free deal.

If it gets carried over, the wave on $19 is a pretty slick deal :)

    Thanks for your feedback everyone.
Let me explain how the deal works to make it a bit easier for you-

For the first three months Virgin Mobile will shout $41.67 towards your bill &
    the credits dont expire! :-D
If you're on a lower cap they keep rolling over until you use them :-)
So you'll end up saving $125 no matter what!
