    These are pretty crap actually, you want a S912 based box so you can install Libreelec (or a s905x based box which has better firmware support).

    Only good thing is the price but spend thirty bucks more and pick up a Mecool Pro L, you won't regret it!

      Can you suggest what apps we can use to use an android box to watch Chinese TV for the in-laws? Have used TV Pad and HTV, bought a Xiaomi tv box and only use it to watch YouTube and some movies from usb devices.

        Try the cloudtv app. I had it a few years ago, my opinion back then was that the free streams were pretty useless. I think I paid USD5/month to get the premium streams.

      Actually you want to avoid s912;

      WARNING:
      Amlogic has not released fbdev Mali libraries and has no plans to release them. These builds use libhybris and Android gralloc Mali driver to provide OpenGL for Kodi - this is an experimental approach with CPU overhead - this means suboptimal GPU performance.
      If you consider buying a device for LE, do not buy Amlogic S912!

      Stick with s905x for Libreelec/coreelec

      I have a Mecool M8S PRO L and regret buying it. : ) The operating system is crap compared to standard android.
      Much better off with one of these or similar. MUCH prefer my old X96 and other 905x box and they were substantially cheaper.

        Unless you want fhd netflix which standard android doesn't do because it does not have android drm. And in the case of xiaomi mi box 4k netflix.

        I get it's annoying you don't have access to full play store but you can sideload any android apps.

        TL;DR

          I was surprised that i couldn't even play mkv files with the Mecool. I tried with Kodi and VLC with no luck. SBS on Demand doesn't work. A standard wireless mouse like i have used on every other android box doesn't work on Youtube and other app's on the Mecool. I could go on. Mine looks pretty flash as i have fitted a fan and fan regulator to it and will be giving Libreelec a try on the weekend. Hope i like it better after i do that.
