+1 for a free lunch lol

Where does it say though? Not that I'm going, because I've got better things to do with my weekend.

    • The free lunch is mentioned in the promote email.

      • We had zinger combo last visit. What lunch does it specify in the email?

        • Didn’t say..only mentioned “tasty lunch”

    • +4

      On https://www.kfc.com.au/open-kitchen it says:

"After watching all that tasty chicken being prepped and cooked we reckon you'll have an appetite, so we'll shout you an Original Recipe or Zinger burger and a regular chips and drink. Register now to score your preferred location and time."

      • Looks the same to me then. Free lunch is always good. Actually more like brunch lol!

    • +1

Oh aren't you all fancy with your organized life and things to do.

      • Lol ok maybe I should've said "other" things to do because nothing beats a free feed :D

  • Thanks OP +2 for a free lunch - don't mind a bit of rabbit …….

  • Thanks mate

  • +10

“This is the vat. This is the chicken. This is the cash register where money goes in. K bye!”

sweeps you away with a broom

    • and a free burger

    • +3

      “Can I help you, sir?”
      “My God, you’re greasy.”
      “Mr. Marouka? Help.”

  • Went I think 2-3 years ago the last time this deal was on OzBargain.
    Quite interesting actually!

And because of the multiple prying judging eyes (aka us) the free meal you get is probably the best tasting KFC you'll ever have.. until the next Open Kitchen deal!

  • +1

Does anyone know how long is the tour before the free lunch?

    • +1

It's less than 30mins. At the end of the tour, there will be Q&A session follow by feed. They will ask you whether to have the food in-store or take away!

  • +3

My store is already fully booked :'(

  • +1

My son cooks chicken at KFC. He is gonna love this… 🤣

But seriously, sounds like the chicken is actually really fresh. The unhealthy bit is the high salt in the seasoning and the fried in oil bit.

    • +4

The supplier delivers the chicken live.

  • Perfect date.

  • Yay booked into Glen Waverley, see you there!

  • FYI - Minimum age 16.

  • +2

Who says "there is no free lunch anywhere in the world"

  • Booked for my local KFC. Based on service and general store cleanliness as a general customer, this may influence whether I choose to eat there again in the future.

  • Gave my ticket back since couldn't take kids;

"To get you ready, we need to run through the boring (but important) safety essentials. You'll need long pants and flat non-slip shoes, and long hair needs to be tied back – we don't want to cramp your style, but staying safe comes first! And don't forget, you have to be 16+ to be part of this adventure."

    • Fair enough if they want to exclude kids, but are any general wear shoes that are made nowadays designed to slip? Surely every shoe out there that is made for every day wear is non slip?

In before "if I wanna go directly from bowling/squash/curling to the KFC free tour and lunch then that's MY business."

      • +5

I'm guessing you're not female? So many cheap flats with absolutely no grip on the sole.

        • Is that the legal definition of a non slip shoe? Sounds a bit sexist to me.

        • @Nomadesque: a lot of men's leather shoes and boots don't have rubber soles.

        • Is that the legal definition of a non slip shoe? Sounds a bit materialist to me.

    booked out

    • that is misleading. You should say booked out for <insert store name>. I booked mine after you posted that :)

  • This is my favorite day of the year. Will be my 4th :D

  • +1

i've been waiting for this since the last time it was held, 1 year and 1 month ago!

    • I remember going to one in July/August last year so not 1 year yet

      • +1

weird..i didn't see anything posted on here or an email from KFC like i usually get

  • Morningside (QLD) is full. Please give me your invite if you can't go.

    • Same for Kangaroo Point :(

  • So sad, had to cancel last year and by the time I saw this it was waaaay too late for about 10 stores near me :(

  • how do you access this page as it doesnt come up

  • Fully booked Melville WA, CBF checking lots of other stores

  • Has anybody ever tried to score a free lunch that was not an Original Recipe or Zinger burger and a regular chips and drink? Like a family meal or something?

    • +1

No need. If you be nice to the tour guide/manager during your visit, you'll get a great feed. Out of all the times I been there, I never gotten just the free food they advertise.

      • I have not had the same experience. Last time I was even denied the free meal by the manager (who was nice enough during the tour) till I said the email stated that I could get it and then the manager suddenly agreed without even checking the email. Did he think I came for the tour because checking out the KFC kitchen was on my bucket list or something?

Ended up only getting a Zinger burger meal :(

I just received this, so did my partner.

We are sorry to let you down
stickyfingers, thank you for registering to KFC Open Kitchen.

We received so many sign ups in your area that our system simply couldn’t keep up. Unfortunately, this event was already fully booked at the time you registered.

I guess the power of chicken was just too strong for our technology.

You have been placed on a waiting list and will be notified by email if a place becomes available.

We apologise for any inconvenience and hope to see you in store soon.

    The KFC Team

Seriously? If I had known I could have booked another store. Weirdly enough I can still book for the store that is “booked out” online.

    • -2

      Same here. Not happy.

    • Me too. Just got one now

    • Update: yeah sick, thanks KFC. I found another store that wasn’t booked out after posting that comment and have just received another email telling me the same thing.

    • Same here

    • I thought they were throwing you some weird shade, until I saw your handle is in fact stickyfingers

  • The tour is off even though they sent me confirmation this morning.

    • i got an email from the store asking for my confirmation and age.

  • I got a confirmation email this morning from KFC. I thought I’d ring the store to double check the tour is on, and the staff member said they knew nothing about the tour. He asked the manager and he also said there is no tour as well. They didn’t seem to believe me that their store is listed on the tour website and that I had booked with them.

Should I still go tomorrow? I want my free feed.

    • Craig from KFC head office told me this afternoon that due to a technical glitch, the Macquarie Centre store is not participating. He said each store has a participants list, so I would rely on whatever the store told you. Or you can ring again and try someone else from the store.

      • We decided to turn up anyway. This isn’t Macquarie, but another sydney store. Sure enough we were told the store wasn’t participating, and we were told to go to the next kfc in the suburb, which we did. The subsequent store didn’t turn us away, but seemed surprised we were turned away from the other store.

Tour was good and we were given a two piece feed with choice of any drink.

  • I got a call yesterday to confirm my place on the tour. Time has been changed to 10am from 10:30am so the tour's finished by the time the store opens. Seems like the national coordination of this has been pretty poor based on recent posts.

    • Tour went ahead. Quite informative and was able to request a Zinger Stacker Meal Box at the end.

    • Never received a call, so when we arrived at 1030, we weren't allowed in. We were still given the zinger meal though.

      • I didn't know about the time changed but when I got there, they still allowed me in.

Had to pay attention for 1hr20min when all I wanted was the feed. Next time I’ll just buy it.

  • -1

Had to wait for more than an hour for the tour to get done. All I got was a burger, fries and a drink. Lowest score ever for the open kitchen. It didn't help that there were two guys with me during the tour who clearly had been to an open kitchen before and they kept asking questions like eager schoolkids trying to impress the manager I guess. I took some pleasure in looking at their disappointed faces when they found that all they were getting for their efforts was the simple meal.
