Wonder how it would compare to the ones you can hire from supermarkets/bunnings….

    • +6

Poorly. We have one, whilst renting we had white carpet (!?!) and we needed to clean it quite often, and the Aldi would bring it to almost white. We went and hired a cleaner from Bunnings after using this one once which brought up LOTS more dirt, and the colour was much better.

As others have said, good for small spills, but I wouldn't waste my money again…

    • The Rug Doctor has much larger water tanks so it will save you a lot of effort in emptying and refilling. And it is much more powerful. I own a Bissell like this ALDI model but mainly use it for emergency from my little kid. When it comes to annual cleaning, I'd rent a Rug Doctor for 24 hours.

I would hope this one is better than the Vax model Bunnings are doing at the moment for $98 to compete with this (https://www.bunnings.com.au/vax-rapide-spring-clean-carpet-w…) - absolutely shit reviews on the Vax model (https://www.productreview.com.au/p/vax-rapide-spring-clean.h…), which was apparently discontinued years ago, so maybe brought back from the dead for Bunnings?

No idea of the quality of that cleaner but some of the reviews are laughable.

People expect perfectly dry carpets after using them, won't happen.

They also expect all the water sucked up in one or two passes, won't happen.

Someone complained that the dirty water leaked, these things don't hold much and have to be emptied and filled regularly, especially in a large house.

Again, I have no idea of that unit's performance but I don't put much credence in these so-called reviews.

  • We need one for wooden floors and a small carpet

    • Other brands have a hard floor and upholstery attachment.

    • You don’t need/want a water based vacuum for wood floors

      • Disagree - that's what the bissell crosswave is for. Does both hard floors and area rugs. Very good machine (though not really a carpet cleaner in comparison to this unit).

    • I think the Bissell crosswave would be a good fit. Does both hard floors and area rugs. Doesn't clean carpet to the depth these units do but it does do a decent job and great on hard floors.

  • Got one of these and the wife says its very avg

What does she think of the vacuum though?

    • +6

      Tell her it sucks better.

  • I suppose it depends on the carpet. It would probably have an easier time lifting dirt from soft pile than hard pile carpet.

Own one. Its ‘ok’. Great for the occasional dog vomit but if you have to clean a whole room it takes FOREVER! The lint/large object filter (usually just collects hair) fills up really quickly and you have to keep it clean or it won’t suck. Don’t buy this to clean up your whole house, only for small spills

This is the loudest machine ever made, they should bundle it with Bauhn noise cancellation headphones.
    Cleaning performance is not bad

If you have to clean the vacuum, does that make you the vacuum cleaner???? 🤔🤔🤔

Dont go near it. from the pictures it looks like the Vax model. It doesnt compare with the WW/Coles/Bunnings hire steam cleaner. Save yourselves some coin and avoid if you can.

  • Im in the market for one of these. Can anyone recommend any other that's better and at a reasonable price?

    • get a shark

        Only if you’re an entrepreneur

        Shark tank first.

      • With or without lasers?

  • I watched a youtube review. Seems to work. Only issue I can see is that it takes cold water. Wouldn't try it during winter. Carpet won't dry quickly.

    • I've used Hot tap water through it without any problem.

  • We bought this one a week again and having a rotating brush head makes the difference. Better than the old Vax one we had. Not as good as the ones from woolies or Bunnings.

Is a good price for this one as RRP is $300.

I have had the original Vax Rapid Deluxe for 13 years plus and it still works great.

  • I purchased the same unit last year from Aldi.. All in all its ok.. I walked dog crap through the house and it cleaned that up very well. Also, it gets most stains out. You just need to be persistant on the spot… Its not really good to clean the whole floor with, just to get rid of spots that have stains IMHO.. But thats all I want it for.

  • So I bought one of these today and used it in the living room.

I am comparing it to the Bunnings Britex rental.

It lacks, a lot! I filled the tank with 1,8 liters of water and detergent, cleaned 1/4 of the living room and emptied the tank. Water in the tank? probably 200grams. That means the carpet soaked ~1,6 liters of water and detergent. Not happy.

4 Hours later, the carpet looks like it did before, nothing much had changed. When I previously cleaned with Britex one, the difference was visible, clearly!

I will probably be returning it and getting something more expensive/appropriate for the jobs. Any suggestions?

P.S. I know that the Britex is $1000+.

    • what's difference between britex & rug doctor
