      +1 here!

Personally not 100% sure the value on this one given the new pixel is about 4-5months away..if you can wait the pixel 3/xl going to be great (minus the notch)..

      So disappointed with WWDC…

  • +2

Great deal. Camera produces some of the best photos, and will only get better as time passes due to Machine Learning.

    • +1

The more contact I have with humans, the more I learn.

      Be afraid

  • +5

new pixel 3 must be coming up soon.

    • It is….. Announcemt in August….

      • then it's released prior to xmas… such a long wait

        • +3

I believe late oct early nov. Coming from a 6P RMA to Pixel XL RMA to P2XL, I'm hoping to get a free P3XL as my P2XL is has a few issues…

        • @OnlinePred:
I've got the top of my screen going pink. What's the best way of doing warranty? I'm worried if I go back to jb I'll get a non genuine replacement display.

        • @incipient: try JB see if they will do a swap. Otherwise go through Google. You will get a refurbished phone from Google. JB won't replace a screen or do anything like that, they will go through Google.

        • @OnlinePred: OK awesome thanks!

        • @OnlinePred:

How can you get a free P3XL if your P2XL has issues?

        • +1

@arcticmonkey: When you send the phone in for RMA, if they don't have stock of the model you have, they offer you the new one. Luck and timing I guess. Although getting suck of Google support.

  • +3

August? I thought October 4 roughly.

    • +22

      October 4 roughly

Too vague. Got a time of day?

      • +12

        10:43PST roughly

    • Rumour is it's coming earlier than previous years

      • Rumour is that's not the actual flagship - only a midranger like the Pixel 2.5 or 2S if you will.

  • I'm up for a new phone soon and I'm still unsure whether to get this or an S9. My S7 has been slowing down a fair bit lately so I'm a bit dicey on Samsung at the moment. If anyone has a recommendation I'm happy to hear it.

    • Note fan edition from kogan

    • +2

any Android One phone should be fine like the Nokia 7 plus or Pixel 2. My S7 lags and the battery life is shot

      • The Google Pixel isn't part of the Android One family.

        • No, but it pretty much is, since its runs the same clean stock launcher.

    • Stick with Samsung if you are used to their interface and love the app filled OS.
Google is bare bones (features) but the best camera you can buy right now.
And when i say features i mean the amount of Apps you get preloaded and extra features that are usually not even used.

    • +1

Your S9 will do the same as S7. Get a Pixel and don't look back.

    • +1

The S9 is like the almost perfect samsung phone, if you enjoyed your s7 the s9 is pefect.
Only con is battery life, but thats normal for high end phones.

    • Maybe wait for the Oreo update (should be dropping over the next week or two…) that is said to improve performance and may bring some new life into the phone. I am patiently waiting (have for the last few months)….

      • +1

already got the Oreo update on my s7. It has made it slower. The battery drain is crazy. I am out of charge by 4 to 5pm and I dont even use my phone that much.

  • +1

It’s neither clear nor white on the front

    • It’s the back that’s white …

  • Wayyy to expensive for how old this phone is.

    • +12

And yet it's still one of the best phones on the market

    • +27

Ok thanks for your opinion. I mean, it's wrong, but thanks.

    • You do know that this is for the larger capacity one (there’s 64GB and 128GB)?

  • +2

OP. Should recommed trying to get the 7.5% off giftcards for Jb Hi Fi which brings it down to roughly 833 which is a steal imo

    • +1

Should recommed trying to get the 7.5% off giftcards for Jb Hi Fi

Would you like to elaborate on this?

      • probably referring to Youi Rewards?

  • +4

Great phone! Amazing camera and full day of use with everything on no problem. Lag free interface, no bloatware.
Shame about the bezels but you get used to it.

  • +9

Love my Pixel 2. Perfect size.

  • Recommend anyone thinking of getting this takes a look at the Google product forums to see the hardware complaints. Know what you're getting into.

    • +5

The same can be said for literally any modern smartphone, yet these comments seem to only exist when it comes to the new kids on the block.

      • Never had a problem with a new Samsung. I've had like 6.

        • Fortunately you're not the only person that has owned a smartphone manufactured by Samsung, and I guarantee I could find evidence of hardware faults with any model.

        • @Lorindor:

But faults with Pixel seems to be more common.

    • +3

i thought most complaints (if not all) are directed towards the 2XL which is a LG piece of hot trash. So many bugs and a junk screen. The Pixel 2 is fine from my own experience.

      • Yeah I do believe most of the issues were with regard to the XL version, not the regular one which HTC makes.

  • +1

Had this since Dec, love it. But it's gonna be replaced by the Pixel 3 soon man, and that 2016 design. $900 isn't worth it.

    • I'm surprised $900 is considered such a good deal given you could have it for $1129 six months ago, last December at JB.

  • Just picked one up, and it was bundled with the Aiaiai headphones as in previous Pixel deals.

    • +1

      No home mini?

      • No mini.

        • No homo?

  • +6

Can't find reason to pay $900 to buy Google phone which has outdated design

    • Can't find a reason to care

    • What a story, Mark.

    • can't find a reason to care about design when a phone is about its internals

    • That's all people seem to have on the Pixel, and even then the whole minimum bezel thing is overrated.

      • Nah. Samsung S9+ has the best screen ever!

        • I agree, but it's all it has going for it. 😉

  • +1

Quality and premium are definitely words i don’t associate with the Google brand. All their phones overpriced

  • Silly question - but is this factory unlocked? would it work on Optus?

  • What's the DAC like on this? Decent audio like the HTC M10?

  • +1

I used to think iPhones are over priced, but heck at least they retain their value. Android phones on the other hand…

    • And Google follows Apple on the headphone jack…unbelievable. Even an Asus gaming phone manages to put one in and Google cant. I refuse to support that

  • -1

That image is clearly not white :/

  • Question for you phonophiles: The Galaxy s8 is selling for $628 on amaysim ebay (here is an OzB post for it), is the Pixel 2 worth the extra $271?

  • Expired already?! Must have been bugger all stock they were trying to offload…

  • Great post.

    How low will it go?

A bit confusing with markdown of $450 off advertised and then another one on top of that.

  • Does this have headphone jack?

    • No (doesn’t even come with earphones)

GOOGLE IS A KNOWN PRIVACY HACKER. AND MISANDRIC AGENT.

    • Who would you go with then? Serious question. All of the American firms farm what they can out of your data. Theres no privacy, not with Apple, not with Google. And pretty soon your cars will be the same
