  • What’s the minimum income for this card?

  • +2

    $75k as per previous discussions

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/363419

Also, it takes up to 12 weeks to get your points. Still waiting :/

    • Wow 12 weeks! No potential to hit and run then (cancel before annual fee hits)

      • +1

Most, if not all issuers now charge you the card fee in the first month.

    • They must have changed it - I know first hand that you dont need $75k income to qualify for this card.

Remember you can also claim the qantas points initially, and then change to Amplify later on.

    • I had mine 1 month after I satisfied the requirement…

    • oh, 12 weeks! I hit the mandatory spend last month, I guess I'll still be waiting a while then :(

  • -2

Any deals out there that doesn't take 12months to get the points ?

    • +1

      you meant weeks?

I applied for this card from the previous deal…the card has been fine to use but a warning to those that don't have a branch in a close/convenient location, I had to be present in branch to collect the card and setup the PIN/online banking. Then had to come back into the branch again to apply for a secondary card holder (after being told the online application I had completed didn't work because the system wasn't ready yet and I shouldn't have been able to access it yet) and then back in again a third time to collect the secondary card and setup the PIN. Considering I'm in the Perth metro area this whole process was a major pain in the butt. Also, the Perth & Freo branches aren't open weekends at all (unsure about other branches).
They seem to be very old school when it comes to credit card applications, I was able to get an Amex card as well as a secondary card holder simply and easily over the phone.
I wouldn't go with St George again after this experience.

    • Agreed. I think st George is the sister company of westpac? Yesterday I had to visit westpac branch to collect my credicard. If I knew this I wouldn't even have applied for the card.

      • Westpac owns St George - and a couple of other banks. You'll find the same case all over the place:

        https://www.canstar.com.au/mutual-banking/who-owns-my-bank/

      • God people are precious these days. You had to go and pick up the card at Westpac? Oh, the horror! I hope it wasn't too traumatic for you.

Funnily enough I have churned Westpac and St George credit cards recently and I've not had to go into the bank. But I have had to with ANZ last year, and it was a very small inconvenience, and well worth the "trouble".

To be fair, asking people to go between 10am and 4pm to a branch 10km away on a weekday only to find that there's 100 other office workers doing the same thing on their lunch break is shit. Maybe there's a secret that others know that I don't which enable them to do this (other than changing jobs) but it's a real challenge, especially for me, I don't work in an office - I work full days at customer sites, I don't even know which branch to nominate half of the time, I nominate CBD branches hoping I'll be there in the next week or two.

Glad it's not an issue for you though.

  • Applied my self 5 minutes ago, conditionally approved. Just submitted payslips.

  • +1

Possibly worth noting that it is a minimum $15,000 credit limit.

  • I remember last year the offer was 0 1st year fee + 60,000 points

  • Can anyone confirm when you can access the lounge passes? Is this once the card is approved and activated or once the minimum spend is reached?

  • No I have not applied for the card yet. We fly in 2 weeks so I'll be more inclined to sign up if I can get the lounge passes at sign up stage.

    • It took 18 days from application to receive the lounge invitation cards in the mail.

  • The Qantas lounge passes are worth about $110 for a pair on Gumtree/Ebay. That goes some way to offsetting the $179 annual fee.

  • Straight up the most inflexible, painful and customer driven signup experience ever. Expect to:

    • Get random emails and SMSes asking for documents they don't need, you've already provided, or advice that contradicts the actual state of your application
    • Call the call centre several times a day to drive it through
    • Be asked to provide things you can't - quarterly statements that haven't been issued yet, etc etc

I'm only 5 days in and already ready to give up. This is with conditional approval and nothing going against my application. This plus the 12 weeks is going to make me especially unrepentant for hitting this and getting out the minute the points land.

    • Not denying your bad experience but my was pretty smooth. Applied 5 days ago, submitted pay slips and bank statement on the same day. Picked up my card Thursday from a Bank of Melbourne branch near me. All pretty smooth and easy.

    • Trotsky, my experience is the same as yours.
I lodged the documents with a branch on Tuesday. On Friday St George approvals dept. contacting me asking "where are the documents". And also to explain my incomes (Already spelt out in my application)
AMEX are so efficient, and St George their antithesis.
If I get the CC, then it will give me great pleasure to reap the rewards and cancel!!

  • Merged from St. George Amplify Signature 90K QFF or Amplify Rewards Points + 2x Lounge Passes ($179 First Year Annual Fee) via PointHacks
    Go to Deal

Props to @yados to bringing this to my attention

    KEY INFO:
    $179 annual fee first year
    90,000 bonus QFF/Amplify Points
    2x complimentary Qantas Lounge passes
$4000 eligible spend in 90 days
    Offer ends 31st July 2018

This is a great deal based on my standard credit card value calculation. Not quite as good as the Westpac Altitude Platinum (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/388942) but there is the reduced spend requirement of $4000 (compared with $6000 for the Altitude).

    Credit Card Value Calculation
    Value = Benefits - Fees

    Calculation Assumptions
    1 QFF Point = 1c (https://www.ausbt.com.au/what-is-a-qantas-frequent-flyer-poi…)
Qantas Lounge Pass = $50 (standard eBay resale price)

    St George Amplify Signature Offer Value = (90,000 x $0.01) + (2 x $50) - $179 = $821

    By comparison, Westpac Altitude Platinum Offer Value = (90,000 x 0.01) = $900

    • Minimum Credit Limit for this card?

      • $15k

    • FFS signed up to this yesterday for $279 fee. Oh well still making $1.5k…

Worth noting this offer only hits your credit record once, the Westpac deal twice.

      • Wow, how so much?

        • +2

          Probably themself + partner

        • The typical Qantas flight in AUD - taxes seems to work out to around 50 FF points per AUD.
If I want to push the valuation up then I could point to my recent booking of $8,200 worth of Business Class flights for 144,000 points. After excluding taxes it still works out to better than 20 points per dollar. But that's a silly valuation as I'd never have purchased those flights with my own money, so I feel that 50:1 is far more realistic in terms of true savings.

    • I grabbed the earlier version of this good deal back at the end of March (back then it was $139 first year annual fee and $5K spend in 90 days). They were pretty quick with the bonus points too - I got my 90K QFF credited last month.

      • How quick was it? I made the minimum spend in my first statement but still waiting for points.

        • I also made the spend in my first statement and my points arrived 22/06

        • I reached the minimum spend on the 3rd month and still waiting for my points :(

    • Is there a minimum income requirement ?

      • $75K

      • I havn't ordered my Lounge passes yet - what do people normally do (order them as late as possible to give max use-by date?)

    • so tempted!

    • perfect timing, thanks op!

    • Been putting off applying for cards due to laziness but finally did it, thanks.

    • Do you guys go for Qantas points or Amplify rewards points?

      • Qantas here.

    • 0.75QFF for every $1 spend though?

      • Does anyone actually get these for the points you get for spend???

  • Are there any excluded transactions to get the points, just cash advances?

    • Ok, I just read that government charges are excluded from earning points. A couple of questions

      1. Does that include council rates?
      2. Do government charges not count towards the 4k in 90 days requirement, or is it solely the transaction points?

      Edit:

I just called up and was informed that council rates are considered government charges and are therefore not an eligible purchase. Because it is not an eligible purchase, council rates also do not count towards the 4k spend in 90 days requirement. Damn.

Sorry for replying to such an old post, I had just applied for this card and paid 2 council rates for our two houses, it would guts me if we didnt get the point… LOL…. would have paid by amex otherwise.

But I think, it may be included, see the comments on the above article.

        Cheers

  • I received my welcome pack (not the card yet) and there's no mention of the bonus points or the fact that the annual fee is $179 but I don't think I Should worry right?

  • The fees per the welcome pack is $279 and not 179 as advertised, I am assuming that is due to standard template being sent out to all customers…will probably call and confrim…

  • I applied for this card just now and have been given the preliminary "You are not eligible for this card". It then asked me if I wanted to continue with the application and I said no, not wanting to risk an extra credit inquiry.

I have an income >80k, have only one card (28 Degrees) with a $6000 limit, only using up $60 right now, never had any failed payments. Have enough assets but no property.

    What am I missing?

  • I was just given an alternative product (platinum card) with 50k points.>$85k income, very low monthly expenses, living at home. Makes no sense? I declined the alternative product, does that mean I now have a decline on file as I wasn’t provided with the amplify..?

  • thanks, signed up again after my 12 month expired couple of months back :)

    • Nice! … My points have come in, now moved to NAB signature.

      • Got my NAB Sig points yesterday (took 3 months) so jumped off them :). Just waiting on ANZ and now this to give me points.

        • Great! I've heard mixed reactions with the NAB card as some people not even getting the daily spend bonus, let alone the sign up bonus. But also heard that they managed to get the annual fee waved because of the inconvenience. luckily for me, my daily spend is coming thorugh so assuming the bonus will as well.

Ahh, ANZ, I applied for that in March and got bonus in June. managed to score a 0% BT for 18 months so keeping that for a bit.

Looks like we both are similar circumstances.
