  • Can u use regular bt headset with ps4?

    • +1

With an adapter, yes, but trust me when I say it's not the same.

      • So this is specifically designed for ps4 using their own wireless standard?

        • The mic quality alone is worth-it. Great headset.

        • Correct, Sony have made it very difficult for normal Bluetooth headsets to work with the PS4.

        • I see other comments say the reverse true. You can use this as a regular bluetooth headset on things other than PS4.

        • @dexx: xbox one?

      • Could you please explain this a bit more? I've been using a regular headphone, and am not sure what could I be missing out on.

        • You can get a generic Bluetooth adapter (similar to what this headset uses) which any normal BT headset can connect to, but I found that the connection is poor in comparison, and they experience drop-outs.

        • Interesting. I think then the benefit would be when playing multiplayer FPS games and such where dropouts are not preferred, as opposed to missing out some game audio. Thanks.

        • @Lorindor: Depends on the adapter, some do not have lag others do.

But I don't think the virtual surround in these headphone uses Bluetooth although they seem to have a BT reciever to use for other things eg music on smartphone.

        • @Lorindor: Can you use the PS4 headset bluetooth adapter? My old sony headphones are on their last legs but i have a new pair of bluetooth headphones

        • @davedrastic: I highly doubt it.

  • I recall one of the ps4 headsets was meant to be really good for multiplayer games (directional audio/hearing footsteps).. I think this was it, can anyone confirm how this would compare to a pair of Astro’s with the mixamp

  • Can I use it on my pc?

    • +1

It should. I have one with blue color and works on pc with dongle. No driver required.

    • +1

Yeah you can. Works flawlessly. Pull the usb dongle out of your ps4, plug into pc, and works within seconds. Can't recommend it enough.

    • +1

Forgot to mention, only 2.0 channel will work with pc.

    • +1

The USB dongle can work with PC wirelessly but there's also a 3.5mm port on the headset for connecting it to anything else.

  • does this work with nintendo switch does anyone know?

    • Yes. But not for chat, just for audio. You can plug the usb dongle into the dock and it works perfectly for sound.

  • Will this work on the netflix app on PS4. It would be awesome if it does 7.1 or 5.1 virtual surround sound with PS4 apps.

    • +4

yeah it does, i used it to watch The Revenant for the first time. sounded beautiful the water running of the rivers. shame he huffs and puffs the entire movie lol

i use them most nights to watch movies, battery life is fantastic

  • can i fit this over the PSVR?

    • +2

Says "PSVR optimised" so I assume so.

    • +1

Yes, this one was designed to work with the PSVR headset.

  • Do these double as regular Bluetooth headphones that you can use on your phone or mp3 player?

    • +1

edit: confirmed it work with android phone if using a OTG usb adapter.

  • +1

this headset is quality. I used it entirely for God Of War, and finding the ravens was a piece of cake with it, as you could easily tell what direction they were coming from. This is an insanely good price for it.

    • ps4 subreddit reckons the gold and the silver headset before it break easily.

      edit as below:

yes they removed the hinges to avoid the cracking issue they had; but therefore they cannot fold. also better button placement according to some, and they sit over the PSVR better.

  • +1

You also can plug in the BT dongle to your PC as well and use it there, amazing headset great battery in it and range , microphone is great too and you have nothing sticking out in front of your face

Hear unseen enemies and epic explosions with immersive surround sound

Will I be able to hear my ex girlfriend coming if I buy this headset?

    • Depends on how good her new lover is

  • I grabbed a set for my son's bday cheers lads

  • +1

Thanks OP - Bought a pair myself and sent the deal to my squad so they can get a pair.

  • +1

Only 3 left in stock, but you should still be able to order at this price after those are all gone.

  • They might be out of stock but you can still place the order for $89, I did and the delivery is towards the end of this month/start of July

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/offer-listing/B079T6FRG2/ref=dp…

  • Can get it for $80 in-store can't see any instore stock. Big-W. But can still get it $88.90 delivered.

  • +1

Thanks OP, bought a pair for myself.

  • Need some advice please.

I'm planning on using this on pc as I don't have a ps4.

Will there be any lag in games as with normal Bluetooth headsets?

    • I have used this for PC and no lag, they work fine.

Cant remember if the 7.1 still works though (think they do but worth double checking)

      • The "7.1 virtual surround sound" is likely just down-mixing an eight-channel LPCM source to stereo with some psychoacoustic trickery. I'm sure a PC can do the same, then output the signal in stereo.

I remember my old Sound Blaster card could do the same on any pair of headphones using "CMSS-3D".

  • I’ve had this for 3-4 years heavy use. It’s falling apart and I bought some SteelSeries. Great, affordable headset, well worth considering on a budget and if you want PS4 built-in functionality.
    Pros
Game Chat Mix works on the headset itself. SteelSeries does not.
Audio switching. When you turn off the headset, the sound can revert back to the TV. SteelSeries does not.
Lightweight, comfortable, for a larger head
Mic quality would appear to be good, although I never listen to myself
    Cons
Sounds quality could be better, but is decent enough.
No dock (no a big issue)
    Battery life ~ 4hrs for a 3/4yo headset

    • +2

This is the new version released a couple months ago. Not sure what the difference is between the two though. I’d imagine they fixed the build quality

      • +1

yes they removed the hinges to avoid the cracking issue they had; but therefore they cannot fold. also better button placement according to some, and they sit over the PSVR better.

  • does anyone know what the weight of these headsets are?

  • I hope it's better than v1. I have that one. Only used it once and then put it away. It was not comfortable or clear sounding, though I am used to audiophile grade headphones (AKG, Senn, Beyer, etc).

  • +1

Hey OP its not 69$ anymore its now 79$!!!

    • +3

That's even better. It makes the deal $59 now with the Code Amazon20. Thanks.

      • Damn I literally just went to JB to match the price and now it's $10 cheaper >_<

Compared to the original gold headsets these are slightly less comfortable and the cups are smaller with less padding.

They are however lighter which makes up for the comfort I guess…

        • You must have missed the price change by minutes :(

        • @Jase2801:

just realised the code will not work $20 off at Amazon AU for New Users (Minimum Spend $79)

does not meet min spend :P

        • @neosin: I created a new Amazon AU account and although code was not accepted, a $20 promotional credit was applied in the checkout. $59 delivered :-)

          Item Subtotal: $71.82
          Postage & Packing: $5.45

          Total Before GST: $53.64
          GST: $5.36

        • @muncan:

sry my bad it does meet the $79 min spend

      • Yikes.

I hated the Gold Wireless v1.0 headset but at that price now I'm tempted to buy one.. argh.

        No. I'll resist. That's right.

If there's a deal on the Platinum one though…

      • Yeah had to create a new account and grab that sweet deal for $59! I didn't realise it was promotional code. Sweeet Cheers man!!

  • Code does not seem to work for me, I get an error “The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase”

    • +1

Same my end. Glad i didn't pull the trigger this morning

      • I would have, but was at work and couldn't.

I bought them on my wife's company and reduced price further :)

  • Bought a set for the missus for $59. I'm still rocking the 2.0 stereo headset which has been great. The rubbery coating on the cups and headband is starting to crack up and fall off though :(

    • Mine too. Thought I'd buy these and sell the current ones on gumtree

  • +1

Damn.. purchased yesterday for $69! Checked the order this morning and the price had dropped to $59 (With code). Cancelled my order, and reordered to save that extra $10!

    • +3

I emailed Amazon and tried to get them to match the price drop having ordered them yesterday at the $69 price. They didn't offer a refund but gave me a $10 credit on my account.

      • Probably a better way of doing it as I would've knocked myself to the back of the backorder list

      • Thanks for the post; I tried the same thing and I got a $10 refund so am perfectly happy.

  • +1

Bought yesterday and Cancelled and bought again just now. $20 Voucher still applied. Great!

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just blew another $59…

    Cheers.

  • +1

Price is back to $89 ($69 with coupon) FYI

  • Anyone received theirs yet?

    • Nope, and I ordered it quite early

To be fair, the estimation is June 27 - July 4th

    • Ordered 8th June. Received 13th. Delivered to Melbourne Metro area

    • Order date 8 Jun. 2018
      Not yet shipped
      Delivery Estimate:
      Wednesday, 27 June 2018 - Friday, 6 July 2018 by 9:00 pm

      😐 there’s still hope

  • Ordered 8th, received 14th in WA.

I've gotta say, I am slightly disappointed. I thought it would be a good upgrade from the old PS3 wireless headset.

    Pro:
    looks more like "normal" headphones
    3.5mm socket
    seems to suffer less interference

    Con:
    max volume is lower
    less wireless range overall
    awkward controls
    charging port in bad position
    slightly less comfortable

    Neutral:
cannot set volume from computer, only from headphones (no more odd interactions between two volume settings)
    micro USB instead of mini
    has silly "bass boost" function
    no mic boom

  • Not received here either :(

    • +1

I called Amazon today and they said they’re out of stock, and have no idea when they will be, even though it shows maximum estimated still as 9/07. Wasn’t updated on the low or no stock at all too.

      • +1

mmm… refund or still waiting on them?

  • +2

Just received an email on this:

We're still trying to obtain the following item[s] you ordered on 08/06/2018.
We're awaiting a revised estimate from our supplier, and will email you as soon as we receive this information.

Part of me wants to cancel but where am i going to get it for this price again!

    • +2

Same. If you buy it again through the link (more than double the price) you can

Get it as soon as Tuesday, July 10 - Friday, July 13

    • +2

The least desirable scenario for me is if Amazon cancel the order.

We already lost the 10% discount using NAB card as Amazon has not charged the card yet until they ship.

    • I'm in the same boat as you guys.

Does anyone know if they'll maintain the original advertised price?

I have a feeling they'll email saying "Hey we've got it in stock now, it'll arrive on xyz, but the price is now $129, would you like to continue with this purchase?"

Don't forget GST applies now! :(

      • +1

Na they wont do you like that lol

      • +1

They'll maintain the price, if they can get more..

Worse case, they cancel the orders. I'm willing to wait, double the price everywhere else

        • I'm in the same boat. Waiting ….

  • My first purchase from amazon AU hasn't been shipped a month after ordering and they don't know when stock will be in.

    I'm tempted to cancel.

    :/

  • +1

I think by now, everybody who have not got their headset must have gotten the email from amazon about awaiting revised estimate from its supplier.

The question is then, why take so long to get this revised estimate? it's like they are waiting for cancellation as much as possible.

Surely just asking about the next delivery doesn't take this long. Lead time question is very much a common thing especially for a logistic juggernaut like Amazon.

The silent just weird to me

    • Just spoke with an Amazon rep, apparently default ship date is 11 September for my order. It could be shorter once they get more information from the supplier.

But yeah estimate delivery is in 2 months if nothing changes.

      • wow … just wow.

        No emails here though.

  • Amazon Au being crooks - told me expected delivery was by 5th July (order was placed on 8th June).

On 6th July I contacted them and they lied to me, saying that it was stuck/lost (my card had not even been charged) and that I should cancel and make a new order.

New price at that time was $149.95. I asked and the rep promised to match the old price + coupon, saying they will refund the excess after my card is charged the full amount. I go ahead…

3 days later, still no charge on my card and no update from amazon. Arriving 11 July is the status. I call again, this time they claim there is payment issue, so I use a different card. They again promise to refund me the excess once the order ships.

Today, after my new card was also not charged (stats says arriving 13th July), I called them again - this time the guy said they can not honor the previous price nor the coupon since the headset is not being sold by a third party, not Amazon.

What to do? I could have just gone into a store (JB/BigW) and picked up the headset for $80. Screwed bit time by Amazon AU.

    • Sorry to hear what you have gone through. But i would have questioned the advice given that Amazon has nil stock before cancelling anything.

Also contact through chat so at least you got a copy of the comms to back you up if things goes south.

      • I have all the chat logs - multiple reps confirming the refund on new order. Also contacted Amazon Au on twitter now.

  • Merged from Anyone else purchase PlayStation Gold Wireless Headset @Amazon early june and not receive it yet?

So pretty much there was a sale for the NEW PS4 Gold wireless headset on amazon around early June for $80 and with a discount code you could get it for $59. I purchased the item early June and it has still not been sent to me. Here is the ozbargain link to original post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/383287 . No update from amazon. If you guys know anything let me know! :)
