not sure why TN still exists when VA also can achieve 144hz 1ms

        Ghosting.

        • A ghost image is a permanent discoloration in a certain area on an electronic display; more specifically, those which use cathode ray tubes. See our burn in page for further information on this term. … When describing an LCD or flat-panel display, ghosting is used to describe an artifact caused by a slow response time.

So, you're saying 1ms response time on VA is different from 1ms response time on TN ?

        • @phunkydude:

ghost image is a permanent discoloration in a certain area on an electronic display

VA panels tend to suffer from a slow pixel response that manifests itself in "smearing" or "motion blur". TN does not have this issue, and even IPS is better than VA in this regard.

The pixel response time of "1ms" VA Panel is not equivalent to a 1ms TN panel.

For me the VA panels are a bit of a nothing panel… either go for the accurate colour reproduction, viewing angles etc. of an IPS or fast response of a TN.

  • How does this compare to the AW3418DW?
Does AW3418DW worth the price tag?

    • you're comparing 27" to 34" ultrawide curved

      • And also an extremely good IPS Panel (the Alienware).

  • Hmmmmm. Been looking for a 27" monitor for a while now.

If you're spending that much on a screen, the AG271QG is only 10% more for IPS

Purchased one the last time it was on for sale awesome monitor if you set it up right.

  • I have the 24 inch version of this screen - fantastic for gaming. I didn't mind the whole TN vs IPS when I'm looking at it face on all the time anyway.

Once you go 144Hz+, you'll never want to go back, especically with G-SYNC

  • Decent monitor, I got a refurb one for $500. As suggested the IPS versions are probably a better option if you can get it near the price point

$497 before shipping for a similar product except freesync. would anyone recommend?

nevermind its telling me shipping will be more than $100 rip
