They do it because they can and people buy. I also don't like it but honestly 8% discount is considered good for iPhones considering no brick and mortar stores reduce even a single dollar.

Back in 2014, if someone had of told me that a "bargain" in 2018 would include a $1360 phone with just 64gb of non-expandable storage, I would have said impossible.
Yet here we are.
Got the 64Gb iPhoneX deal with JB's for $999 outright last week (with a 12 mth $49 telstra contract, thanks to awesome OZ Bargain pickup), expect more of these to come along - seems expensive vs this (likely gray import) as new range of iPhones expected around Sept this year.
