I have the same query: Sony KD60X6700 vs Hisense 58P5 - which would be the better buy?
      https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/hisense-58-inches146cm-uhd-le…

      • +4

I would go the Hisense its new 2018 stock, Sony 2017 model

Has better motion processing 100hz vs 50 Hz
10 Bit HDR panel, Sony 8Bit HDR panel also I would saw it was have a better HDR output too.
Look like the Hisense has a faster SMART software on it from its 2017 models.
Also 3 YR warranty vs Sony 1 year + ACL rights.

For Sony TV, the only models that i recommend are the ones with Triluminos display. Samsung use same technology with the other name Qled which was used by Sony long time ago. If you want a cheap but good TV, buy Lg oled or sony triluminos. You cant go wrong with these choice

    • +1

Respect the view, but I’d reckon plenty of people would be happy with some of the cheaper brands floating around like TCL or Hisense. It’s a shame that Philips isn’t importing some of their higher tier models as they’re meant to be good value. I agree that LG OLED are good but I wouldn’t personally say that they’re cheap. Cheapest is around $1800 at best? But you’re right, LG OLED or Sony TL are good it’s just that they’re not that cheap I didn’t think. I could be wrong.

      • They are cheap mate. Oled is the best right now and much cheaper than samsung qled. Qled is similar to triluminos but they promote as a new technology and sell them with very expensive prices, shame to Samsung. I said they were cheap because i compare many tv which have same technology. If you like led tv, go for Triluminos instead of qled. If you want oled, go for LG oled

I'm explicitly looking for something other than Phillips, I bought a Phillips ~5 years ago and due to a lack of firmware updates when the local HD DTV format switches occurred to the updated MPEG format as there was no firmware update from Phillips for the new codec formats all the HD channels are blank black screens with only audio available for all HD television channels in Melbourne.

    • +2

a cheap but good TV, buy Lg oled or sony triluminos

Both of those brands with the features you describe are amongst the most expensive televisions available. They're certainly good though.

The LG B7 - described by many sources as the best TV for gaming period provided you do not use a very well lit room - is $1951 shipped at TGG which is a good price (may be a little less as I applied $35 shipping after applying the discount). Feel free to post it as a deal or add to this thread but I'm not sure if this is the cheapest price anywhere right now.

      Best price I've seen was $1700 - 1

      • Oh derrr … the code only applies to Sony.

      • Yes mate. I own lg oled b7. Its still the best even $2300 right now, and i say it is cheap because it beat all the led tv $3000 $4000

        • You should have been clearer in your initial post that it's cheap RELATIVE to other top tier TVs, would have saved you a lot of passive aggression

        • I have a quote from TGG for 55" B7 for $1994 (price beat RTE), valid until 17/7/18. If its any use to anyone let me know and i can upload (qld TGG should price beat RTE as it shows online).

        • @Deal deGrasse Tyson: we have to understand that way mate. No one wants to buy cheap stuffs with bad quality, lol

        • +1

@n2h: But that's the thing low price ≠ bad quality in every case. And cheap is such a subjective term you need to give a point of reference otherwise confusion like this happens.

        • @GrantG: Hi GrantG, could you please send this quote to me, I'm interested in LG 55" B7

    • Sony Models that have Triluminos are the 8 Series and above :)

  • Didnt it say excluding TV?

    • This is on their normal site, not connected to the eBay sale.

      • Sorry my bad…must be post world cup match just now lollipop

    • This is through tgg store not eBay tgg

  • I got this from one of the other deals earlier in the year. Amazing tv for under $1k

    • Same here. Pretty happy with it

  • closest store, chatswood…..thats 100km away and means passing 20 closer stores.
might be a deal, but low stock means its not really a deal for vast swathes of people. same old same old.

    • +10

The guidelines state that the minimum stock for a deal post is 10, so as long as that's the case then it's worthy of a post.

If you were to post a deal here, what do you suppose that may be?

  • If screen size was not an issue would the new Samsung NU7100 49" 4K UHD Smart LED TV at the same price be a better deal?

    • +2

How would 49" vs 60" be comparable in price?

      • Size is not the issue.
Trying to weigh up the performance as the 60 inch is over 2 1/2 years older
        Thanks

        • The X6700E was released last year.

Does JB and HN have the same model? If so, you could always ask them for a price match

I recently purchased a dishwasher from the good guys and had selected delivery as there were no stores near me with stock. After ordering online my local store contacted me about delivery details and I requested to pick it up from them once it came in stock and cancel the delivery charge. This may be of use to people with no stock near them but YMMV.

    • This is me for a microwave! Good to know so will do so!

    • +1

um…. amazon usa link and the product doesnt deliver to Australia and the price is in USD!

      Your point?

  • Is 120hz important?

    • If you watch fast pace sport (such as car racing) or playing games on tv to avoid screen ghosting

      • +3

What about if the sport isn't broadcast at 120Hz, what happens then?

  • I went shopping for a Sony TV all day, came home and saw this, lol. Pretty much none left for the models I was interested in….

    X7000e, X6700e, X8500e….

Pretty hard to find out where they have stock left too.

  • +1

Note this TV doesn't have android. I think if you're going to buy a smart tv, you're better off buying one with android. Good price for the screen size though.

    • +1

I dont like Android TV that much. Have it in my Sony and they are slow compared to LG smart. Way slow. Takes few seconds after switching on to respond to remote. Painfully slow. Better to get Chromecast..

  • Really want this TV, any deals on a good quality entertainment unit or should I try Gumtree?

    • Yes.

    • There are still a few of these around (new not demo)

Just purchased one at $1400 using 4 amex cards with HN rebate of $200.. nett $1200.

  • Sony KD55x8500e is $1188 at JB now,
if you can find any stock .
    Good luck

    • Could you provide link?

Will claim a price match if this price $1188 is correct.

  • You'll have to ring to see if there's any stock left at JB.
I payed $1145 after seeing that was cheapest they sold for on eBay, with little negotiation.
Also got a quote from a RT Edwards for $1169 as they still have some units aswell.
As I said , good luck!
