    Damn…
I'm still waiting for mine from previous order

I'll bet it would be faster reordering from this deal!!!!

    • me too. called them yesterday, still on back order after 10 days. I guess at least it's coming. Shame not when 10% was available.

      • Not sure what feedback to give
        Positive or neutral.

Neutral. Rating for delayed delivery I think is harsh

I've called them about 3 times and only once have they called me back as promised.

        • +1

So when the hisense 55N7 was on sale a couple of months ago, I had to wait about 3 weeks before they had new stock! Luckily I was moving out when I got the TV which I just picked up locally even though I had it for delivery coz i wanted the TV ASAP and they refunded the delivery fee on what I paid on ebay

        • Rating for delayed delivery

Why? They chose to tell you when they'd deliver it.

And as the comment below outlines what many eBay retailers are doing now is taking orders whilst informing the user that they have stock with a reasonable ETA and then they make the user wait for weeks while they obtain stock which should be discouraged at all costs unless you like giving interest free loans to businesses you interact with.

        • +1

          @Diji1:
Because they had no stock when I ordered it on ebay.
The listing didn't say. Will be delivered on x days.

As an eBay purchase I expect them to have the item in stock

        • @prankster: That's nice that they refunded the delivery. I ordered my S8+ last year through TGG ebay, had to wait a few weeks to get it in stock at my local, when it came in I asked to pick it up instore instead of waiting as I had to go in anyway. Was told I couldn't be refunded the $10 postage or whatever because I paid with Paypal. Something about due to security or confidentiality or something. Did you pay with Paypal also?

        • @empoleous:
Up to a weeks is reasonable for a TV. If you rate them down when they don't say will be delivered in a date range/days, then you're bit of an asshat.

        • @Moofy: I never rated them on anything, I was just wondering if Prankster paid with Paypal, since he got a refund on the delivery cost. My local Good Guys said they couldn't refund the delivery charge for me. Just curiosity is all. Also it was like 2-3 weeks for a phone for me (which was worth it) :)

    • previous order from where? the last deal was also from GG ebay so i am confused

      • Yeah I ordered from good guys previous deal.. I'm still waiting for mine

    50Hz refresh rate eh? Ouch!

    • +2

Another form of milking the money

      • +16

        50Hz refresh rate eh? Ouch!

Does that matter if I'm just watching free to air or anything for that matter?

It would be great if people could explain the issue with this rather than just commenting that it's not good.

        • Probably means you can't play games @ 60fps?

        • +4

@Raynes: That is incorrect. The 50hz/60hz is for TV PAL/NTSC standards in different regions relating to broadcasts.

          A 50hz tv will play 1080p or 4k content 60fps perfectly fine.

        • +14

@Viper8: NO! That is simply not true, don't spread fud. It'll play at 60 fps.

The aerial TV input for PAL is 50Hz. It still supports 60Hz for other inputs. Literally listed in the spec.

          4096x2160p(24,50,60Hz), 3840x2160p(24,25,30,50,60Hz), 1080p(30,50,60Hz), 1080/24p, 1080i(50,60Hz), 720p(30,50,60Hz), 720/24p, 576p, 576i 480p, 480i

          Source: https://www.sony.com.au/electronics/televisions/x6700e-serie…

        • @Viper8: that's not how it works

        • @Hybroid:

OP is spreading fud, not me:
          "Refresh Rate: 50Hz"

        • -2

          @Geryatric:

Yes, that is how "refresh rate" works. A display cannot display more FPS than its refresh rate.
OP says refresh rate is 50Hz.

        • @Viper8: correct, if the TV is 50hz it can only push 50fps max! Not 60!

        • -3

          @Hybroid:
Also because of voltage frequency. Eg: USA is 60Hz because of their voltage being 110v. We are 50Hz because of Australia being 240v. Hardly any shows are broadcast at 50Hz anymore here. It's basically what kind of frequency you can get out of the voltage. Even if a TV says it's 100Hz in Australia don't believe it. All high end panels run at 120Hz native. It's just for the Aus specs to do with safe voltage but if 120Hz is available, all TV's that are 100Hz will do it.

        • +2

          @bobzor bargain:

Hz and FPS and two completely different and mutually exclusive things.

        • +2

          @Viper8:

As Hybroid said, official specs say it's a 24/50/60hz TV. OP just copied specs from Good Guys ebay description, which in this case were incorrect. Mystery solved.

    • +4

I genuinely don't understand what the thing is about refresh rate… I've got a sony X8500e (200hz) and a sony w800C (50hz) - both really good from moving images. I can't tell the difference!

      • +4

same here. i got LG from 4 years ago already 200hz i paid $1600 dont know till now if it is good or not

        • Same here ,In 2010 I paid 3k for a LG 47" LED FHD/200Hz TV :(

      • +1

Because most things can't use the 200hz refresh rate so it makes zero difference.

Aerial TV doesn't, Netflix doesn't, Youtube doesn't, PS4 Pro doesn't etc… The only thing that might is connecting a high end gaming PC which rarely anyone does.

So it's makes no real world difference between 50hz and 200hz.

        • +2

That and a high end pc through a tv suffers bad from iput lag. So, dont do that

        • +1

Afaik it's only for internal post processing (the reason for the input lag mentioned), the older HDMIs can't handle 200Hz, I think you need 2.1 for that

      • +3

There are only two physical refresh rates for TVs: 60Hz and 120Hz. 240Hz is also possible but there are no sets that I'm aware of that use it.

Anything else is manufacturers passing off motion processing as refresh rate which is deceptive.

      • When TVs state 100/200hz they usually just mean motion interpolation aka soap opera effect. If you don't use that then it won't make any difference.

    • +6

      Damn… That HERTZ

    • +4

      Googled , found https://www.cnet.com/news/ultra-hd-4k-tv-refresh-rates/

Still not sure how it would be when watching NBL or video games

    • No band 28, no notification light ouch!

broke, but want to look classy LOL

    • So? it's a TV not a monitor.

  • is this running Android?

    • +1

No Android on this model unfortunately

    • +4

Fortunately not. It runs Opera TV which isn't a laggy mess. It's very quick, snappy, has all the apps and content you need and doesn't miss a beat. Much much prefer it over Android TV.

  • +1

Guys I am weighing this against 65N7 ? The least I can get hisense 65N7 is for 1409$ online. which one which one !!! please someone help

    • Also which one is better for 50% use as a giant pc monitor and why? Cheeeers!

      • Man the three yr warranty with Hisense against 1 yr looks good. Let's see what others have to say.

        • +1

Why only 1yr warranty? Consumer law gives you additional rights regardless….

    • +5

I like sony upscaling more than hisense. Low quality content in my opinion scales better on this sony than the n7. I've tested with my own content in store at HN.

      • Hey mate, when you say low quality what are you talking about ?

Most of the content I watch are min 1080/bluray rips !! I am not sure how free to air TV would look on Hisense.

        • Free to air in brisbane is 576p (720 x 576)… it's not great. I've seen 4k tv's that really struggle/look very pixelated on free to air tv.

Most of my content is 1080 as I also primarily only watch netflix/stream content, but occasionally I use the ten play app, where it's low quality video. The sony to me, and this is a personal opinion looks much better than other brands as it up scales bad quality content well.

I think the N7 is great for console gaming and great for netflix/high quality input. It has better brightness, which is very important depending on where you are leaving your tv (in a dark or a bright area).

A lot of considerations, but for me in the end the sony was the best choice on my content that I watch, the price that I paid, and lighting conditions in which my TV is placed.

        • @Tech and cars: How do I workout the brightness capabilities on TV's. I currently have a LG 50" Plasma which I love but find i have the TV set at 100% Brightness and require more when playing xbox, I also have a new 4k Sony (paid $1000 6 months ago) and also find the brightness needs to be higher when im playing games.

So what should I be looking for in the specs (for brightness) of my next purchase?

        • @noslappers:

I find the best test at the end of the day is always to go into store and see what you like the most.

In the Sony - adjust the gamma setting and that should give you a bit of brightness! Hope that helps :)

        • +1

          @noslappers:
Look at Rtings.com they have the brightness nits specs for most TVS. I would say average is around 300 nits. Most high end HDR TVs have high peak brightness (smaller parts of the screen highlighted brighter such as lightning, explosions, sunlight, etc.) But still struggle to get better for larger objects on screen. Only the Sony X9 series can sustain it and have high brightness for all aspects. The other brands drop dramatically after a few seconds. Sony X9300e is still King for brightness even with the new Samsung Q9 just released.

      Hisence crap

      • -3

agree but hey careful people will disagree and say hisense is using xxx panel which is good bla bla bla.
but tv isnt all about panel. its like putting ferrari machine into some crap body.

        • +3

Oh I'd buy the Ferrari engine in a crap body every time

        • +1

@pensionday: You'd buy a Ferrari engine in a crap body over a Ferrari engine in a Ferrari?

        • @Michael15286:

Ferrari engine in a crap body cheaper than a Ferrari engine in a Ferrari? :p

        • +1

          @prankster:
Ferrari engine in a sleeper Datsun = fun machine.

        • +1

@pensionday: I swear I read penis in your name

      • +13

        Hisence crap

Hisence may be crap, but Hisense isn't ;)

You must've bought the knockoff version mate :P

        • +1

You sound like a knock off of Motorola :P

  • +2

shopback 2% ebay, cashrewards 1%. which is about a tenner or two

    • Don't forget to pay with gift cards obtained from woolies at 5% off!

      • eBay gift cards?

        • yes. buy woolies gift cards at 5% off from cashrewards

        • @oxymoron: hey I thought you couldn’t buy gift cards with e-gift cards?? Where do you buy it from, self checkout or manned checkouts?

        • +1

          @cowiie:

You definitely can, and can do it at either, it works regardless. Just select e-Gift Card as the payment method and it goes through.

        • @doweyy:

Hey sorry m very new to this site and doesn't have any idea about this e-Gift card. Do you mean I should buy e-Gift card of eBay from somewhere and can use it to buy this?

        • +1

          @nirajbhatt:

I completely understand! What you can do is go and buy $950 worth of WISH Cards from Here, and then use them to buy eBay gift cards at your local woolworths. I don't personally think it's worth it for this deal because of the short expiry, but for future reference I hope it helps :)

        • @nirajbhatt: buy we e-gift at 5% off. Buy eBay gift card using we e-gift card.

  • Missed out last time, but snagged one now. Cheers OP!

  • +1

Went back a few threads and people seem fo be voting for hisense in terms of picture quality.

  • The Sony D version is better than the E. Go figure. You’d think they’d improve rather than go the cheap option.

  • Most (all?) stores in WA out of stock for C&C

  • +1

Got one of these from the last deal. Tremendous value.

  • -3

    Terrible TV

    • Do you own one, please explain?

      • +3

I do and highly recommend it. It's a fantastic TV for the size and price.

  • +1

    Does this have PLex pre-loaded?

Or at least an abilty to download it?

I have two bravias - one i could download it and the other is fixed apps only

    • +2

Yes you can download Plex and just about any app from the store. Works perfect.

      • hey mate, when u bought this have you compared picture quality with N7? Also, as this is 50 HZ, did you notice any lag while watching action scenes ?

        • +1

I have no interest in Hisense or chinese products so wasn't a problem deciding. The reality is you may get better specs on paper with them but the actual implementation can vary (e.g. lots of HDR complaints on Hisense and better claims of SD upscaling on the Sony). Reality is, the differences are so small you won't notice in real world. Pick what suits you. This is a brilliant TV for the money.

The 50hz thing is a red herring, that's just the PAL standard used in Australia. Content displays 60fps perfectly fine.

        • @Hybroid: Thanks champ.
Since you own this, one last question. How is the viewing angle on this? Is it decent enough to watch from sides.

        • +3

@sundeepguntu: I'm not sure how to gauge that to be honest. Moving chair about 45 degrees either way from straight on seems pretty fine. A bit more than that and I don't think it's ideal. Maybe this helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2jLj5KaFBg

        • +1

          @Hy3broid:

Oh man thanks heaps. Have a nice weekend

  • Is this tv a hdr10 one? (Will it make games and blu rays on an xbox one s look better?) Ideally I'd get a bluetooth compatible one for gaming in the evening.

Currently have a tcl 50" and it's fine but slow to boot and no useful apps plus tcl wont update to hbbtv1.5 so flip them!

    • -1

It does have HDR which makes games like God of War & Horizon Zero Dawn looking absolutely gorgeous but I believe it is not the full HDR10 at this price point. Not sure what the real difference is though. It's very quick to start up, switch between channels and apps etc.

    • +1

It supports HDR but the brightness level is identical to the SDR brightness and it doens't have a wide colour gamut. So HDR content will look conspicuously similar to SDR.

  • +1

    Awesome deal OP, very tempting.

All these deals on Ozbargain is really tempting me to cashout my crypto and go on a shopping spree lol.

    BTW I love you.

  • Asking on behalf of a friend, how does this compare to this to the Samsung Q7 QLED? https://www.harveynorman.com.au/samsung-55-inch-q7f-ultra-hd…

  • +2

Picked up this TV in the last deal. Everything looks fantastic, and gaming on PS4 is especially good. Colours look great in general, HDR is decent.

    • What's the input lag like?

      • +1

This TV has a really, really good response time. Definitely notice it when playing FPS games etc.

  • Is this the same model? https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x690e#comparison_1919
Obviously the number is different, but from what I can see it looks the same?

    • +1

Yes that's the same American market model.

  • Thanks Dowey! bought one

now, anyone selling an entertaintment unit around southeast Melb? lol

    • +4

I got this one pretty cheap. Not the best quality (get what you pay for) but it fits together fine and sturdy enough to take the weight of this TV with some storage too. Stand fits perfectly on it and does the job.

      https://www.realsmart.com.au/tv-stand-entertainment-unit-low…

      Here's a quick pic: https://i.imgur.com/4Emoilc.jpg

      • +1

That looks good actually..thanks man, got one as well…👍👍👍

      • Wouldn't you prefer to put this on wall?

        • +2

I wouldn't recommend that as it's quite a thick TV set and will stick out a fair bit, wouldnt look good. It's also really heavy so would need a very robust mount. Also, renting. :)
