Xiaomi Portable Flashlight 11 Adjustable Modes 3350mAh USB Powerbank - USD $10.09 (~AUD $13.91) @ Joybuy

800

This is the cheapest I've seen for this Xiaomi torch (usually around AUD$23 on Ali). I purchased one about 5 months ago. Beautifully engineered and solidly built. You can get brighter at this price point, but is it a powerbank and is it Xiaomi?!

Pairs nicely with the white Xiaomi USB Fan and USB Light!

    240 lumens only?

    • +1

lol go and buy a five dollar '10000 lumen' flashlight off ebay then

    • +1

      That's a lot brighter than you'd think.

    • thats real 'lumens' not fake lumen claims used by some sellers ;)

  • +11

Xiaomi are making fleshlights now? I guess it was just a matter of time.

    • +1

It will probably have WiFi, could be interesting

      • +1

Then it would have electronics in it. That could electrocute you if something goes wrong.. would not be very pleasant I would imagine.

        • Dunno about that. Some people get off on electric shocks. lol

      • Just like yeelight? I wonder what data it sends back to China….?

      • +1

the intensity syncs wirelessly with the noise in real-time

    • +4

You can attach it to the xiaomi robo vac for a blowjob

      • You, sir , are the winner of this comment section! You also need those Xiaomi towels to finish it off

  • +1

I'll wait for the pro version, hopefully that will have :

    -waterproofing
    -zoom
    -bigger battery
    -more lumens

    • +5

      But still no Band 28.

      • +2

No nfc as well. Deal breaker.

        • +1

          And still no face unlock.

        • +1

no wireless charging = no deal

        • sd card slot and dual sim

    • +2

Yes, it just finished the kickstart and will be in the market very soon. Black color with usb c charging.

      • LOL!!! black and C charging ;)

        • I hear the Next USB Type-D will be much better, everybody will want the D

        • +1

@Mr Mrrtn: You should wait for type-X. It will be revolutionary.

        • @maxdba:
Still wont be able to beat my old Nokia's charger…
          360 degrees mofo xD

  • +2

that is cheap. But if it's also a power bank, will there be difficulties getting it past customs?

I bought one just to try it out. Wanted to buy 2, but they only allow one. I could get around it with a new account but I didn't want to cheat the system.

    • It's not a loose battery, it is a battery within a device
      Much easier to ship

      • Isn't a 20000mah power bank also a battery within a device?

        • as far as airport customs go i'm pretty sure 20,000 mAh is the upper limit

        • @ohrehman: Well a lot of people are not able to receive power banks they've been purchasing from China, or China is unwilling to ship them to AU. Even the 10000mah ones.

Would this torch be treated any differently?

        • +1

          @lostn: I do wonder.

I ordered this torch from Ali a couple of months ago ~$24.

"Unable to deliver - Return" 3 days ago - have messaged seller.
          Just 3,350mAh NOT 20,000 ???

Odd happenings with Dunny-Head's Trade WAR?

  • +4

Damn really don't need another flashlight. Already got a few running on 18650's and headtorches and cheap aa/aaa torches. But this sounds so cool! Torches the new eneloops?

    • +1

Torches like these are handy for camping if you have a power bank

      • +6

Charging a power bank with another power bank? Unlimited energy!

  • Tried several times to get them to send the verification email upon registering.. Guess I'll wait for another site in the future to replicate the price

    • Check your junk folder

      • Yeah I already did, still hasn't come.

  • Anyone have any good tips for a brighter flashlight at around this price?
    Can be 18650's.

    Cheers!

Bought this. super bright and still works after 2 years! Best part of the deal is, comes with two rechargeable batteries and a charger.

      • Cheers for that!

        • no worries :)

      NUP ;-)

      A laser has concentrated light.

The higher the LED W DRAW - the lower the [battery] DURATION.

      BIGGER is NOT BETTER.
      Juvy comments anticipated :-)

      • (just for you so ya don't get TooTetchy)

        "BIGGER is NOT BETTER"

        So he said

      • +1

I just want a fairly bright one to go 'tree spotting' for animals at night with the kids for about 30 mins. I had my fun with lasers when I was a kid :)

I am buying the Xiaomi one for them and looking for a nice bright one for me for about the same price. :)

What about Brighter is Better? :P

        • +1

Upvoted you for "Brighter is Better? :P" ;-)

Thought it might be taken as intelligence - IQ :-)

With an efficient LED concentrating the beam leads to a longer THROW; but a narrower field. A wider beam better visibility - but shorter range.
Some ZOOM torches allow one to concentrate the beam when required; older torch heads might have a diffused beam surrounding a HOT SPOT.

Smaller, personal use, torches now seem to go for a broad, even spread of light - with at least two levels of output - lower prolonging runtime.
Your old 2AA incandescant torch would only output around 10 lumens; a 6v Dolphin around 40. Appearing twice as bright - (40/10)^0.5
LED Flashlight forums go into this in detail.
You might check out the Budget Light Forum for what you want ;-)

Of interest my original comment following on from W'Pedia reference to the "Inverse Square Law" has totally disappeared.
One might be forgiven for thinking that only pumpster sales and/or puerile comments are welcomed on sales sites. Particularly noticable when returning after Scotty sold out :-(

Personally I'm helped when others educate on value for money buying - not just consumeri$m.

  • The 18650 battery isnt removable.
    Deal breaker.

Damn. I really wanted this light.

  • +5

http://news.mydrivers.com/1/557/557807_all.htm Chinese version review, but you can just see the disassembling picture.

    • so you can't disable the torch to replace the battery?
looks like they had to cut the torch up just to see the battery

      • IIRC the torch may be glued together.

The 18650 battery seems a good brand - LG; tho a lower capacity might last more recharges.

  • +1

They are still available in stock, I have just ordered one thanks!

    • +1

Thanks, I've unmarked it as expired.

  • Thanks, bought one

  • +3

    The website is horrible.

    • +2

      That, I must agree.

  • +2

Google just announced half billion US dollar investment in Joybuy (JD.com) today. We will see more deals from that company coming in the future. https://technode.com/2018/06/18/jd-google/

  • Good shop Joyboy. Ta, bought one.

  • +2

Did anyone actually get theirs? My tracking number never worked, and when I sent a message enquiring about it they quietly cancelled my order and refunded without replying.

    • Wtf?! I haven't got mine either. The cables I ordered on the same day arrived 2 weeks ago.

    • +1

Same here, got a tracking number that never worked. No updates until I asked, then a "we're checking" and now the order is cancelled and all messages relating to the order have disappeared. Who knows where my money is…worst service ever from a Chinese site and they're supposed to be super-legit. I prefer my random AliExpress sellers…

    • +1

Rcvd 0/2 of battery powered lights including u1 desk lamp; was too good to be true. Monies returned after canned response excuses. Keep watch for carrier contraband. Have better luck with reliable sites vs Jingdong. Bodgy facilities bodgy execution.

  • +1

Apparently they can’t send this out as shipping company deemed this as contraband (their exact words)

    • Just spoke with them (VIA chat) and they say my order is progressing. I don't believe this as the tracking number is saying invalid.

  • +3

I received the following email yesterday:

    Dear customer,

Thank you for shopping at JD

Regarding the order XXXXXXXXXXX, we feel sorry to inform you that the package cannot pass the security check and customs inspection successfully, which caused the package was sent back by the carrier. As the carrier does not have other shipping method and in order to save your valued time, we would like to issue the refund to your payment account and the refund will show in your account shortly after the order shows "cancelled". If there is no reply within 24H, the order will be cancelled automatically. Please feel free to choose other items you may be interested in.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
Feel free to contact us if you have any further inquiries.

    Sincerely,
    Jason
    Customer Service Team

    • Sounds like they are trying to return our money as store credit.

      • If you paid via PayPal then just do a charge back on them for item not received

  • Logged on and when i click on "where is my order" i get the following:

Your package is on its way. Packages are typically delivered within 30 days of shipping.

Apparently it shipped out on June 19th.

  • Mine was delivered to the wrong suburb (40 minutes away). That's never happened to me before. They just cancelled and refunded me.

  • +1

    anyone actually receive theirs?

    • +3

No. Unfortunately, they haven't been shipped as their mail carrier refuses to accept lithium batteries. Useless.

Appallingly, JoyBuy are now just sitting on peoples money hoping they will forget about it.

My advice is just to file a PayPal claim (immediately escalate it to a "claim"). I've done this, and received the refund within 24 hours.

  • I just got a refund after enquiring a few days ago.

    • +1

Same here. JoyBuy is in my black list.

  • +1

I have almost forgotten about this. I will ask for a refund.

  • +1

Never received mine. They never responded to my inquiries either.
    Logged a dispute with Paypal.

    NEVER BUY FROM JOYBUY AGAIN!

  • +1

I haven't received mine yet. Should I paypal dispute?

    • +1

      YES.
