In response to the absolute clusterf*** from the Optus World Cup coverage , Optus have handed over all the group match coverage to SBS, with the hope to rectify their service in time for the remaining games.

From news.com.au:

"Optus has made a decision to leave its app and sport streaming services free and open to everyone in Australia for the remainder of the World Cup and through to August 31. The telco says Australians who have already paid for the service will receive full refunds. That move would allow Australian sport streamers to also get the opening few weeks of the 2018-19 English Premier League season free through Optus."

EDIT: Optus appears to have removed the pay wall now, happy watching.

  optus fail, cant keep promises

  but if they do come through, we can stream final 16 and quarters on optus that SBS is not covering

  The app on Google Play is free to download but still has the $ to use. What is the point of announcing this with a 'promise' to refund.

  It is also copping lots and lots of 1-star ratings.

  This is not going well for Optus.

    I did the same - added a credit card to Google Play, bought Optus Sport. then removed the credit card.

    I'm not too bothered about a refund, as they have since sent me a Fetch Mini and given me 12 months of free Optus Sport, which is not bad for $15.

  I signed up a couple of days ago but forgot about it when payment was prompted for. Just opened the app again now and could go straight to a game without prompts for payment.

    Yeah I got a refund to my credit card yesterday (signed up via Android phone app).
