    • Why 6 weeks

      • +1

        • +1

They definitely will. Wireless 1 had the Arlo 2 with 4 cameras for $811 +shipping one month ago.

        • @youfnc: wireless1 is in administration tho?

        • @asa79:
Not to be confused with Warehouse1 who is in administration ;)

Keep in mind this is the original version. They had the Arlo Pro 2 for $90 more 3 weeks ago. Definitely worth getting the newer version.

    Good price.Thanks op

  • anyone have a good vendor for additional cameras and the accessories, like battery charger / panels etc ?

Damn thought this was the arlo pro 2

Just an additional note about “Continuous Recording”, it only works when you have it wired mode, not wireless. Noted are, please check the graph for other features it provides when it’s wired/AC power mode:

    • You also have to pay monthly fees for continuous recording.

  • Does anyone know what s the difference between the pro and non pro version? I cannot decide which deal i should go for:

Pro has much better motion detection, i also find the picture slightly better. Pro can run of usb and has a rechargeable battery. Pro is 720p (as is non pro) and pro 2 is 1080p

      • Thanks for yr info

  • Who has some experience with these?

I know bugger all about them, am looking to get something for home security.

Do they have decent night vision?
How do you go about charging them? Just pulling them down and plugging them in? Wouldn't this get frustrating a bit?

    • Do they have decent night vision?

      Yes.

How do you go about charging them?

Pull battery out and put in charger.

Wouldn't this get frustrating a bit?

Not really as you only have to do it once every ~6 months.

      • Not really as you only have to do it once every ~6 months.

Every 6 months? I could barely get more than 3 months out of the camera that gets the least amount of traffic (~5 notifications a day). With moderate traffic, its generally around 2 months. How are you getting 6?

        • Rural property, bugger all traffic.

        • I agree, I only get about 6 weeks at best. Also, I don’t have a pull out charger, but rather it plugs in via USB? I noticed when driving my car down I couldn’t even read my number plate so resolution is patchy. But if you can live with that, not too bad.

    • "Do they have decent night vision?"

I have 7 cameras at 2 different properties - One has decent street lighting, the other place has almost none. At the property with no street lighting the night vision barely works. You can manually change the brightness so that you can see a little more, but during the day the image will be completely blown out, requiring you to manually lower the brightness again. After about a week of doing this I gave up on the night vision.

However, the other property with some street lighting works great. So basically as long as you have a reasonable amount of ambient lighting you should be fine.

"How do you go about charging them? Just pulling them down and plugging them in? Wouldn't this get frustrating a bit?"

Depends where you place them. I have them within easy access so can easily swap out the batteries. The frustrating part isn't changing the batteries (this is fairly infrequent anyway.. once every few months), the frustrating part is the amount of notifications you'll receive that Arlo has detected motion. I have the Arlo Pro 2 (which i'd recommend over these) and I've wired most of them because getting constant notifications can be very annoying. This mostly only happens when its windy, but when it is windy your phone will be buzzing non stop. You can of course turn off the notifications but that kind of defeats the purpose of having the camera. Having them wired means you can create exclusion zones to exclude trees/things that move due to a gust of wind.

      • That's weird as the night vision goes about 15m with my dads Arlo Pro.

I think positioning makes quite a bit of difference as his cameras are about 7m off the ground angled downwards, with no obstacles in front.

  • How do we go about the installation? What would I expect to pay to get it installed professionally?

    • It's self-installed. Just plug hub into your router, position cameras and install app.

  • Arlo series also offer free cloud storage while most other brands charge around $5-$10 a month.

  • Hot tip - make sure the NAME of your phone doesn't have an special characters (eg Dan's iPhone, has the apostrophe) or you can't get geofencing working! I have this system, it's great… once you figure out the bugs…

    • +1

Fully agree. The system is good, but their software leaves a lot to be desired. Even doing this little trick doesn't always fix the geofencing issue. Good news is that the system is integrated with IFTTT, allowing you to link functionality to a huge range of other home automation products. There's a couple of workarounds to get Geofencing working using Life360 for example.

This is not the current gen. I bought an Arlo Pro system with 3 cameras for around $650 last year when the Pro 2 wasn't even announced. So I really don't think this is a good price for a previous gen clearance model.

    • Agreed! I have second gen. When it comes to cameras you need all the resolution you can get. This should be way cheaper.

and the 15% off discount happening to this in 2 days I think, so should drop the price down another $70 odd bucks…. if its not excluded in that offer:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/386068

  • Guys Now you can get it for $636.65 until tomorrow

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/386527

  • Thanks got the 15% off deal, they be jacked the price up now though.
