Someone tell me if my maths is wrong.
    https://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/ipad-apple/ipad-wi-fi-3…
iPad at myer is $439, $400 of gift cards will have $440 of value. Buy $400 of woolworths vouchers from cashrewards for $380 and use that to buy myer gift cards from woolworths. iPad for $380 right???

    • +5

Yes :) But that is the 5th gen, I'd recommend getting the 6th gen model for $10 more

      • But can you buy giftcards from giftcards? I've run into attendants who wont approve it.

        • I've had no issues at all buying gift cards with gift cards.

        • Can you buy Woolworths gift cards from Myer?

      • Argh, I knew it seemed too good! Thanks!

    • Harvey Norman sell this iPad (2017, 5th Gen, 32GWifi) for $398 at the moment. Combine it with Amex $350 spend get $50 cash back , this iPad become $348. Last week they have 10% off ipad for VIP night, so I got iPad 6th Gen128G for around $460, after Amex cash back.

    This is sweet as!

$110 gift card costs $100 which only costs $95 to get when using a WISH eGift card.

So $110 of value for $95 is a $15 saving, or 13.63% off. Not bad at all.

    Thanks TA!

  • My local store is offering 10% bonus on Myer gift cards, so probably they will do another week.

    Woolworths..Myer…Competitors.

Always found it strange setup selling rivals gift cards let alone promoting it in their catalogue.

    • +1

What's even more strange (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is that you can't buy Myer gift cards at Coles! I know they have the Coles Group and Myer ones, but you can't use those on the Myer website

      • +2

Coles sold Myer over 10 years ago, so I'm not sure why they'd be obligated to continue such relationships and not form new ones.

        • Coles believes in polygamy.

    • Big W and Myer perhaps, but even then they're not really in the same space.

    • +2

      Competitors how?

  • Can i buy wish card first then with it myers card worth $2000 or $1800 so that I can buy oled tv b7 with myers to price match with tgg.

    • +1

      Yes you can!

    • Egiftcard works. Not sure about wish but you get 5% off egiftcards online.

I bought 3k worth of egiftcards to buy Virgin Australia gift cards. Throw in secondary staff discount card I saved $300.

    • +1

      This is a better deal with "PASSCODE"… 20% off TGG's price… https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/332452659629
      No gift cards required.

  • -3

Poops it's not tgg but videopro eBay website. Will Myer price match it? Has anyone able to do so?

  • Just Bought $250 last week, my delivery arrived today, wish they have this offer earlier.

    • 5% off wish!

  • +8

I rather wait for Myer's closing down sale. It is surely not far off.

    • +2

I was chatting to Jenny Hawkins the other day and she assured me Myer is going strong. :)

      • But they're closing down stores like Hornsby in NSW …

      • +3

        I tried that too.
        I got arrested

  • I thought you can't buy a gift card with a gift card?

    • “Not supposed to” 🤭 Go to a less experienced looking check-out counter; though I’ve never tried self-check out gift cards

      • when you buy gift card, you will need "assistant" from self checkout staff to scan

        • +5

Well I've tried twice at woolies at self checkout and denied both times when they come over

        • +1

@jdogg: I did some "trick": after they scanned their card, acted like a normal checkout customer, choose split payment, first one I used my credit card, 2nd one….well you've already known.

        • @jdogg: Tell them if it's not supposed to happen then their checkout would automatically block it. Usually gets them to shush and not be difficult.

        • @jas0nt: It would be rude. The small print you are not allowed to use gift card to purchase another gift card, so they have the right to reject you, basically, you're asking staffs to ban you for your behavior.

        • @jdogg: It works on self checkouts only now. However, if they are incompetent (50-50 chance) then they'll make up a fake excuse to cover and they won't do it. It does look like the serviced checkouts & the front desk can't do it anymore.

On the plus side all the Caltex's and Dan Murphy's/BWS's all seem to accept egift card without any issues now.

On another note, Woolies ain't getting any of my business until the next financial year. Coles gets every cent because they supply plastic bags.

        • +2

@supersabroso: You do know Coles are going to stop supplying plastic bags too come Sunday, yes?

        • @kerfuffle: You know that the next financial year starts on Sunday, yes?

    • Maybe it depends on the gift card? I've bought Nintendo eShop credit with a gift card. Or maybe credit is considered different.

    • +1

I just bought 7x $100 EBAY gift cards at woolies and paid with eGift cards. Scan ebay barcode and pay away. Only trouble I had was after every payment the attendant had to clear a message asking them to verify balance had been correctly applied.

    • +4

This question appears in every single giftcard deal at WW.

You can buy any GCs which are not from Woolworth Group by eGiftcard. Just do not use selfserve, use normal check out, the cashier will let you pay by egiftcard.

      • I've bought VISA gift cards at both normal and self serve. At SS, the attendant had to do something to allow the transaction to proceed, then proceed it did.

        • Thanks Yoda

    • +1

I've bought more than 5k of gift cards (eBay, Jetstar, Kogan, etc) using WISH eGift cards, both at self serve and at manned checkouts, during the past month. No problems whatsoever, simply choose your "opponent" wisely and they know no better what you're doing :)

  • This is the warning that Myer is about to go into liquidation…

    • +7
      • +1

heh just being a smart'rse… though I am serious about the possibility of Myer going into liquidation of they don't get a buyer soon

    • +3

Thanks, I'm going to go and withdraw all my myer shares because of your advice!

      • +3

Don't buy any Harvey Norman shares, they're being taken over by Amazon.

      • +2

You might as well sell now. Myer shares are heading in the same direction as channel Ten (before the CBS buyout) and Dick Smith.

Myer has no value. A store that once had class is now made up of many dilapidated stores with poor customer service and overpriced merchandise. Many brand names are no longer interested in the department store model when they can eliminate the middle person and sell directly to customers either online or at their own outlet increasing their profit margin.

Unless Myer management are brave enough to close a third of all stores, reduce floor space, heavily invest in refurbishment/staff training and kill the concept of clearance outlets I give Myer under a year before the administrators are called in to wind the retailer.

        • +1

          Relevant username!

        • They got screwed hard by TPG (not Aust TPG, Texas Private Equity) and never recovered.

I remember the downfall, as I work and walked by Myers often. One of the early things TPG did was ramp up high profit areas to make the store look more profitable, great short term lousey long term.

This meant they neglected other areas ie men's. Where before there was section o the ground floor where men often bought accessories… then gradually went upstairs… was removed altogether, it was a great fishing line. Men's wear department is empty even during lunch periods now..

I was always upto date with ties, business shirts, underwear and socks… between then and Uniqlo coming here… my accessories has taken a beating with few updates and many holes…

      • +1

When your Myer shares have fallen this low why would you bother selling them.

    • +1

      Thank you, Swami Baghern.

  • Has anyone tried using Myer One gift cards at Caltex? I remember being able to use it 3 years ago, but have not tried ever since.

    • Think you're getting confused with being able to scan your MyerOne card at Caltex in order to earn MyerOne points …

  • I don't remember if the Myer gift cards have no specified value?
You can 'buy' the value you want?

    • You can at Myer, but the ones at Woolworths have pre-set values only i.e. $50, $100 and $200

  • Just to check if anyone knows, does Myer accept multiple gift cards online? Is there any limit on number of cards?

  • Not seeing any mention of this on the Woolworths Giftcard store online:
    https://www.woolworthsgiftcardstore.com.au/deal/default/myer

    • Because the Woolworths Gift Card store is a separate entity to Woolworths and catalogue specials most likely don't apply there …

      • So any way to do this online or in-store only?

        • +1

I’m not too sure, but I’m going to assume in-store only as it doesn’t say it applies to eGift Cards that you buy online from Woolworths Gift Cards i.e. physical cards only

  • FYI I spoke to woolworths and Myer about this promotion as I couldn't find anything online, no one can confirm it's valid.
They even told me it's a scam, how can I confirm this without spending $200 on a gift card?

    Thanks

    • +1

It's in this week's catalogue … Also at Town Hall they had signs up promoting the offer

      • hmm.. I don't see it in the catalogue.. am I missing something?
        Town Hall Melbourne?

        • Town Hall, Sydney. There's no Woolies at Town Hall in Melbourne (or even a Metro). It's on page 33 in the NSW catalogue at the top; maybe Victoria aren't participating?

        • +2

          @kerfuffle:
It's on top of pg33. I'm located at Doncaster, VIC.

        • @ur enq:

          Thank you! Found it.

  • +3

I can confirm, have been into Woolworths, where there was no advertisement in the gift cards section, picked up a $50 card as a test, paid with egiftcard at the check out. The amount loaded at the till said $50, so I checked at customer services, but they didn't have any idea about the promotion. Got home and checked, $55 loaded, great success. Off to buy the remainder.

    • yeah worked for me.
Got the ipad 6th Gen for $409.
Now bringing with me OS for an extra $40 off.

    • But no +vote??

      • Sorry I never think of that stuff. Stupid question how do I up vote the main deal?

      • Hahaha never done the +vote before !

  • Any idea when this promotion ends?

    • +1

Did you read the OP? The end date is there underneath all the social media links …

      • +1

My bad, did not notice. Thanks for pointing out.

  • Don't forget cashrewards for another 2% cashback

  • Confirming that the 10% bonus value does get loaded on (as per online balance check), even though the receipt at checkout only has the face value on it.

  • Just want to confirm that this promo has expired? Can't see any end date in the attached ad or OP

    • Did you read the OP? The end date is there underneath all the social media links … Not to mention there's a giant EXPIRED sign next to the title …
