You can get the 2018 iPad for $40 more with code “PIZZAZZ” at

    https://m.ebay.com.au/itm/APPLE-iPad-9-7INCH-WI-FI-32GB-6th-…

      • +3

In all fairness you'd be pretty silly to get a 2017 when the 2018 model is only $40 more.

It isn't a good price whatsoever. Maybe $100+ cheaper then sure.

Real question is did you even buy one yourself?

        • -5

The only advantage really is pen support, few will use that.

If money is tight and you want an iPad now, it is a good deal.

          @SamR:

Not true, The A10 delivers 40% CPU and 50% GPU gains over the A9 making it one of the bigger generational jumps.

        • +1

So for $20 (not $40) more I can get the 2018 version according to OP's find. LOL

        • +4

          @sputnik:

          Exactly.

The pen support is just an icing on the cake.

The significant noticeable cpu and gpu upgrades are the main reasons to get the 2018 model.

Give yourself a high five rather than demanding appreciation for no reason.

stop bullying the dude by down voting him, give the man a break, its his first post, he's contributing, welcome him to the community, rather than giving him the boot.

It doesn't hurt to be nice.

        • It's not "bullying". It's valid criticism. If you can't take simple and direct criticism then this isn't the online community for you.
It's genuinely against the posting rules to ask people to be nice because it's your first post.

Don't think the neg is justified.
This is a decent price for the 2017 model.
Besides, you've posted a deal when a newer version was available

      • +1

        Yup. Agree.

I will be more careful in my next post.

        Thank you.

The 2018 version has a big upgrade in SoC - much faster. Pencil support, longer OS support (probably).

Definitely not worth getting old model to save only 10%. If it was $100 cheaper, then ok, maybe.

My first post - so please be nice. :)

That's not how we roll here.

We are professionals and don't have time for niceties.

  • I bought one of these but grey stock for $320 during the 20% off US ebay thing a couple weeks ago. Did I get boned?

  • I see no deal here

  • Any good ipad mini deals floating around..?

    • You could get this one
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Apple-iPad-Mini-4-WiFi-128GB-Gre…
      Apply the code
      brings it down to $500

      • hmm, was hoping there was a ~$300 option floating around…thanks for the link though :)

        • You could maybe get a Mini 2 for that price.

    • The mini is all but abandoned. It hasn't been updated in years. It's old, and still very expensive for what you're getting.

iPad 2018 is much better value.

Whilst not brand new - can pickup a refurb with 1yr warranty from Apple themselves for $339 https://www.apple.com/au/shop/product/FPGT2X/A/Refurbished-i…

good first post effort mate. It'll be a deal for some, but the 2018 model for a few bucks more is more appealing to most.

    Kudos on the first post.

    • Thank you Markis :)
Yup - learnt few things today.

  • When does Apple update the Ipads? My daughter needs one for school next year. Should I buy the 2018 model now or wait till later in the year

    • The 2018 model was released only a few months ago.

    • They don't follow definite patterns any more with iPads.

It used to be a big event in September around the same time as the big iPhone event.

Now they're a lot more low key and done whenever they're ready. It's been minor refreshes, and sometimes they skip a year.

There's no telling when they will do it next.

      • Im presuming there will be another decent sale within the next 6 months then….will hold off and give the wallet a rest

        • Depends on your definition of 'decent'. By Apple standards, don't expect too much.

It's unlikely they will refresh them again this year. Next year I'm expecting a new Pro 10.5 update, and possibly iPad 2019 with A11 and 64GB as base model.

Prices don't really go down, they just replace it with updated specs and keep the price. A clear out sale will happen, but it won't be a big saving. It's not worth waiting for a sale with Apple products. You could wait 10 months for a small price drop, and when it finally comes, the next gen is almost here. It's better to have had 10 months of use out of it then to save that small amount of money.

  • I paid $394 for 2018 edition during PLUS15.

An extra $12 for a CPU one gen up and an extra year of support? I would wait for another deal on those.
