The bards will tell stories of the great MX500 1TB pricewars of 2018 for many years to come.

This is the holy grail deal for SSD

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/277918

      • Yeah that's when I bought mine - good times :)

        • I missed out and I will not buy another SSD when the price per gb falls below that deal :)

        • @Homr:

          at this rate - i look forward to 1TB @ 150… :D

  • Now the wait for 2tb drives @ this price ;/

the problem is they get cheap to a level, then a model goes obsolete and they bring out a new tech faster one and the price is up again.

it’s like we see with those cheap 250gb drives ….1st gen tlc nand and very little slc or dram for caching.

supposedly the 3d 64 layer nand are high yield so at least production costs don’t have to cover much waste.

    Any m.2 ones?

    Edit: Cheapest I've found: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Crucial-MX500-1TB-M-2-Type-2280-…

    • sata not nvme ?

      • Yes, SATA M.2.

Crucial don't make any NVMe drives - or at least, Micron doesn't market any of its NVMe SSDs under the consumer-oriented Crucial brand (and the NVMe drives that Micron does make are all U.2 drives for enterprise, not M.2 drives).

Micron were once planning to release a consumer-oriented "Ballistix TX3" NVMe M.2 SSD back in late-2016, but they cancelled it before it ever came to market.

Give this for $100 then thats the bargain

  • Give this for free then that's the bargain

  • Do people expect these will drop within the next couple months? Wondering if I should pull the trigger on upgrading the HDDs

  • good 2tb SSDs ?
