Bit wary of these ‘cheap’ brands. Are they pretty much get what you pay for?

AOC have been around forever - I've owned several (going back to the 4:3 days). As always check reviews but this seems like a great price for a monitor with decent specs (1440p, 75hz) and connectivity.

        Agreed. I fully trust AOC.

Have bought a few of their AGON gaming monitors and they have been fantastic. Great specs and build quality for the price.

        • I have an AGON Monitor, absolutely love it!

        are they chinese?

Dying for a 27" Variety QHD to be under $200 - But this is a great price for a bigger screen.

    I feel obliged to comment.

I have had this monitor for about 12 months now.

Overall the monitor is good, especially at this price. Resolution and colours I like. Response time is not too bad. Refresh rate could be higher.

I only have 2 real issues, and as commented above it's a case of you get what you pay for.

1 - Ghosting is pretty bad. Not the worst but very noticeable if your paying something like PUBG.

2 - Mine appears to have a defect where one half of the screen is ever so slightly lighter than the other half. Almost unnoticeable, but in some cases where the screen is a uniform dark colour you can see it

But it's cheap. Finish is good. Nice on the eyes when not gaming and plenty of real estate. Just if Ghosting is a deal breaker for you stay away.

Thanks for the feedback.. I am thinking of getting this for office work only - no gaming/movies whatsoever so it sounds like it will do fine. I note from reviews there is a blue tint until calibrated but otherwise it seems capable.

      • Certainly recommend for office work

      Ghosting is pretty bad

Do you have free-sync enabled and have you changed it to 75Hz? I have a similar specced smaller one and had no issues at all once freesync was enabled and it was changed to 75Hz (it will default to 60Hz). I'm using DisplayPort cable if that makes any difference.

      • NVIDIA card so no freesync.

Using the supplied DP cable and manually set the refresh rate

    • Agree about the ghosting but feel like it should be added it's only really a significant problem with dark scenes - eg GTA:V during in game daytime is fine but night gets a bit of a ghosty mess.

  • Product page on ebay suggests IPS panel in the description, but definitely VA as confirmed on AOC's website. Not a bad price though.

    • AOC makes both IPS and VA in this size the IPS one is designated by FD8 on the end and available from Sydneytech at pretty much same price with pickitip code and prime membership etc

Just wanted to say that I also have this screen and I have minimal to no ghosting or the light coloured on one side. No vesa mount is probably the only annoyance I have with it haha

  • i think this one takes 20 seconds to come back up from sleep

  • FYI no vesa mount if that's important to you

I have this monitor, i mostly use it for the ps4 (fortnite/destiny). Its fantastic. Im annoyed i didnt get it earlier when i was using a 21" monitor.
One note is the box it comes in is ridiculously big.. I thought they messed up and sent me something bigger

Slightly cheaper here with code 'pickitup'

  • Omg. Must resist!!!

    • Ok fail. Bought one earlier :D item now showing out of stock. Glad no FOMO

  • Got this last time it came up. Coming from a 24" it is huge.

I have to view OzBargain at 120% zoom so there is not a massive amount of vertical white space in 4k.
Great colours, great for games too.

I'd buy another one if I needed it, so if you are sitting on the fence get off it and buy :P

      2560x1440 is not 4K. It's 2K resolution.

      • Oops sorry, 2K :)

      • Not 2k. Its 2.5k
