  • Joybuy kinda lose their touch with GST but still better than AliExpress on a lot of things. I would have been surprised if either of them didn't charge it though.

  • The A-end is white, so it's USB 2.0 ….very unexciting for data transfer, or even looking up lots of photos.

Be nice to see USB 3.0 C cables.

The plastic doesn't have to be blue for it to be USB 3

      • wikipedia reckons usb 3.0 spec is recommended pantone 300blue ……it’s to stop confusion ….if it’s white you can bet it’s usb 2.0.

if it’s was 3.0 with the extra pins they’d let you know and make,it blue

        • not always, the USB-C cable that came with my ZTE A2017 has a white USB A-end but the data transfer is USB 3 speeds when connected to my PC. Since its rated for 2.4A charging, it is likely USB 3 as USB 2 is rated to only be 1.5A max for downstream charging.

      • Just looked at my uGreen cables (Of which I have a LOT of). 4 pins, not 9. They're USB 2.0.

      • It's USB 2.0, someone already questioned in Q&A.

        • I didn't say the cable was actually USB 3. Thanks for sharing what it actually is.

  • Just changed the currency on Joybuy and noticed that it's $1.21 AUD with free shipping

    • +3

$0.12 GST is added at checkout.

Nice share. Brought a 3m cable which is the same price, thanks.

So the whole thing of charging 10% to absolutely any purchase has taken effect? Last year someone complained a bit and it was put on a hold, now, a year later no one says anything anymore, its all good???

Fcuk they can literally do to us whatever they want and no one says anything, cant be bothered, too busy 9 to 5?

Aren't we paying already enough taxes, like 40% 30 on your pay plus 10 on everything you spend that pay on…

Bravo government, bravo 👏👏👏 sheep just swallow and ask for more BS down their throats.

Welcome to Taxralia. Too many taxes and too confusingly implemented in this country. I've lived in 4 countries and we have the curliest law.

So the whole thing of charging 10% to absolutely any purchase has taken effect?

Purchases from overseas retailers under $1000 aud will attract GST. Purchases of over aud $1000 will be exempt until they reach Australian customs, then you'll be levied with the 10%.

You don't seem to be taking this well?

      • Purchases from overseas retailers under $1000 aud may attract GST.

        • Will in the case of all the major overseas retailers.

        • @ash2000:

May because you will only pay it if they voluntarily choose to collect it.

        • @spaceflight:

Yes, but all major retailers have complied.

Penalties of non-compliance include having parcels being denied customs clearance, or having their domain names blocked in Australia.

      • Would you take it well, more taxes charged on you?

        • +3

I'm not keen on it, but I'm more concerned about the proposed levy of $5 to be applied on every single parcel sent to Australia (to cover security screening).

          https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/department-of-home-a…

        • @ash2000security screening fees LOL! Is someone gonna send us a nuke in a parcel! 😂😂😂😂😂😣 My God, that's as equally as stupid like when you're charged booking fees, administration etc. Aren't they gonna be there anyway to get the screening done as they've been doing it forever???? Wtf are we paying taxes for if it doesn't cover their pays. F me dead, literally 😵

        • @drazenm:

Lol. I must admit, it sounds like a cash grab to help balance the budget.

We have to make sure Scott morrison is not allowed to remain treasurer after the next election or else we'll all be paying AUD$6.33 for this US$0.88 Ugreen cable!

          @ash2000:
Unbelievable, just as I thought they already went full retard…

        • +3

          @ash2000:
Plus I hear faster USB3 cables will attract a further 30% luxury tax!

        • @F111:

          Lol. We laugh now…. But…

      • +1

I should note, when you pay gst at the border for a parcel over $1000 you are also levied a $70 security screening fee.

So potentially it will cost $170 to import a $1000 item. An effective 17% tax rate.

This is not new though, this has been in place for several years.

    • Mate who the fcuk is gonna pay for their helicopter services?

    • +2

Notice while they implement this extension to the GST they still haven't closed tax loopholes for business where billions is lost every year.

Instead they cracked down on you buying a 2 dollar USB cable.

If idiots keep voting for Labour or Liberal this injustice will continue.

      • Which party would you vote ? One nation or Jacqui Lambie? They are idiots themselves.

        • He's always quick to bag Libs and Lab but has never said who he votes for instead.

  • ANY coupon codes peeps ?

  • Got 5 thanks

  • +1

Looks like they're now limiting to one discounted cable per person :(

    • Yeah, shame they changed that just as I was at the checkout.

    • One at a time. You can buy multiples one by one.

  • too much usb cable recenlty, like never ending

  • Got them from last deal… They have quick delivery but the cables are not 3A

    • +1

Did you perhaps miss the part where it says 2.4A?

  • +1

Thanks OP! Grabbed a couple, great quality cables - always keep a couple in storage to give away.

    • +1

couple in storage to give away

Given the upcoming security screening fee, you shouldn't be gifting them, you should be stock piling them.

      • Thanks for the heads up! Ordered 2 more in anticipation…

        • Smart!

      • Yup mine worked finally now must be error with Mastercard

    • Yes, that happens with some browsers. It's a very dodgy site (coding wise). It's not PayPal.

      Try downloading the app.
