C'mon AMEX give us some decent options. Unless you are saving all the $$$ for shop small this year, I could be down with that.

    • +5

I know, this year has been disappointing compared to the last few :(

      • By the way, banks axed (or axing) AMEX, how ozbargainers are going to maintain multiple AMEX cards?

        • Subsidiary cards is one way. Also the CBA Amex card (which dies in September ish this year) and the Westpac branded AMEX (really Amex owned).

Going to be sad to say goodbye to my CBA card though as I got fee free international transactions and so was great when buying all those overseas eBay purchases. Will have to start looking into the usual alternatives (28 degrees etc).

    • I'm still waiting for the usual H&R Block deal to come on. I usually see it appear mid July so hoping it will come out next week.

Last year the deal came out a bit later than the previous year but my H&R Block Geelong manager was happy to refund my payment and recharge my Amex cards.

  • Any good Shiraz ‘12 bottles around $100

You can also use a referral to get $25 credit for yourself and for the referee at WineDirect: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/api/referral/122.

And if you happen to have a CBA Amex then you can also get 10 award points for every dollar spent.

They don't seem to quite have what you're asking for, but there are a few Shiraz-only packs for $189 and various red mixes for $99 and up (you'd have to add a single bottle of something to the $99 pack to make it qualify). I don't know the wines enough to be able to recommend anything in particular, but generally their stuff is decent and Dan is very friendly and I'm sure would be happy to help you pick something if you wanted to: https://www.winedirect.com.au/wine-talk/real-people-real-win….

Use the $25 referral code from mps41 which will bring it down to $104.

      Less $30 (Amex)

That's $74 for 12 bottles (or $6.16 per bottle). Delivery is Free Australia-wide on 12 bottles or more.

Someone confirm my maths but sounds to me to be a good deal!

      • Excellent find!

Followed your instructions and it all went to plan.
        Thanks for that.

Good luck finding anything useful at Freedom.

the last time i was in freedom i tried to negotiate a price for a piece of furniture and she goes i can bring the price down but u have to be a member… i said ok is it free? it wasn't some fee per year thing .. i said ummm but that fee is more than what im going to save.. and im not interested in other stuff hahaha ive never gone back…

    • They don't even have stock for most items (leather sofa), I was told that it was a 3 month wait from China.

      • I was told that it was a 3 month wait from China

That's pretty much all the furniture shops. Plush, Nick Scali, ByDezign etc (but it depends on the product too)

        • Yep we waited 3 months for our one from Plush, but worth the wait!! 3 reclining leather style sofas

        • @Turd: whats the price range of leather recliner at freedom, if i may know ?

        • @spk: no idea. I bought from plush

        • @Turd: ah right. thanks. How's plush like for leather recliners ?

        • @spk: really good. We like ours! Go in store and check em out.

        • @Turd: will have to wait for Amex plush deal :)

        • @Turd: whats the price guide like ?

        • @spk: Paid 3k for ours with 30 gift cards hahah

        • @Turd: hahahaha did the guy/girl at the store know your ozb handle? if not he/she probably thought it running 30 cards… LOLLL

        • @scud70: nope. took about 30mins to do it all.
also paid with similar amount of cards for our mattress and also our floor renovations.
staff were like wow wtf.. but all good processed em all.

        • @Turd: hahahaha thats awesome…

        • @Turd: that's nice

        • @scud70: Actually also did the same thing for the engagement ring and suits for wedding. LOL

  • From Amex,

"Our system is not responding at this time, please try again later.

If this problem persists please Contact us."

    :( I shall try again later…

    • This would happen to me when I used the stored card details. Type them in from fresh or use the app.

Mod, can the referral links sorted randomly? It looks like OZB is advocating DJ all the time.

  • Yes freedom gift cards work

  • I might be interested in the freedom deal. Maybe a desk. I have never purchased anything from freedom before. Does anyone have any experience with them? Service, quality etc.

    • +1

you should sign up for the offer, look around and compare their products to see if you like it (and the price). Don't lock yourself with their gift card to get $100 back, you would struggle to find anything at reasonable price. Freedom is just an expensive Ikea/Kmart…

    • Its so so, better than IKEA

    • their stuff looks nice but doesn't last in my experience. We've had 'wooden' tables that were more like fancy cardboard.

  • Looking at the price at Freedom, I will only consider using the deal if it is "spend $300 and get $200 back"
