65P6US TCL 65 inch P6 QUHD Android TV

This is the new 2018 models, similar to the Hisense P6 range with similar if not better picture quality. Getting great feedback

The model is Android so a bit of a slower cold boot up time (although standby should be quick), but access to more apps.

  • I gotta say I'm a big fan of TCL units, I've had mine for 3 years from Costco - 60" UHD, excellent picture quality, easy to side-load apps (Kodi and the likes).. cheap as chips… only caveat and the newer models may differ but the standard sound is pretty shit… again easily solved with a decent sound bar (ironically i went sonos which ended up more expensive than the tv!)

I'm going to combo it with the $159 YAS-107

  • Niceee

  • 25% Off (Requires Prime)…

OP, I think you mean eBay Plus.

    • +1

Ahh yes. I ordered something from Amazon this morning which is why heh

  • Pondered over this and the Hisense 65P6 but bit the bullet with the Hisense this morning.

Have read a few comments for the TCL that the boot up can take up to a minute and software is slow?

Hope I don’t get purchase regret

    • I pondered the same thing, but the saving was too great to pass up.

      • The gift card was definitely drawing me in for the TCL, oh wells, I’m sure both great TVs

    • That's booting android altogether apparently, like after you unplug it. If it's in between switch ons it should be quick.

      • Yeah standby should be alot quicker I presume as it doesn't need to load the OS from scratch.

      • yep, just need to tick a box in settings for a quick boot and then it is almost instant till the next time the electricity is off

  • All gone! sold out

    • Still available from VideoPro but slightly more because of postage, $1318.75 if my calculations are correct

      • Plus Postage AU $55.00 or pick up in Brisbane

        • $1685 - 25% = $1263.75 + $55 postage = $1318.75, no?

        • @cyrax83: Is this eligible for $200 giftcard if buying from Videopro…

        • @pyramid:

Not sure. You'd have to ask them. They don't specifically mention it.

TCL states that if the seller does not advertise it with promotional material, you need to ask the seller to determine if they are a participating seller.

        • @pyramid: It’s not 100% clear in the T&Cs but I think they wil honour it as long as you have a valid receipt, there’s a number to call to check though https://www.tclelectronics.com.au/promotions/giftcard/

        • @cyrax83: they jacked the price up $100 😐, was definitely 1685 yesterday. Poor form for them. At least Appliance Central jacked their prices a week ago lol

        • @Chickenleg: True. I messaged them to bring price down to $1685 but have not heard back since then.

Reg giftcards, they replied : We supply genuine stock from TCL Australia that would be eligible for any redemption/promotion offered by them. All orders come with a tax invoice.

        • @pyramid:

I find sellers never reply to price jacking messages and just ignore it.

        • @cyrax83: He did just now -
We have this item listed at our best current price available.

          Thanks,
          Tim

  • Damn too slow all gone

  • The 65" is sold out but there is a few left of the 55". Only $100 cashback on the 55" but with the $100 gift card brings it down to $784.79, around a $254 saving over the 65" which isn't bad, the 65" was a much better buy imo though.

    • Am I missing something or have they jacked the prince on this one too?
      The 55" is coming up as $976.32 - $100 cashback = $876.32 for me.

  • i wonder if any retailers would price match this deal i am close to hitting the buy on the 55" but am also tempted to wait it out for some more deals at end of July

  • July is title improvement month.

    • In future, please mention the store/retailer in the title.

That's been fixed. Moderators and power users spend time fixing titles throughout the day and any help is appreciated. Thanks for posting!

  • This is back in stock.

  • Mine arrived today - very fast shipping. So far so good. Quite pleased for the price. Haven't had a chance to give it a proper test yet.

I did find the fastboot setting doesn't stick for some reason. Anyone else having issues with fastboot?

    • Does it have legs incase it stays on tv table..

    • Hi can you please tell me the distance between the legs? Need to see if we need a new tv unit. Thanks

  • Just purchased mine. Can't wait.

  • This is a 50Hz panel…. Just sayin..

    • No it isn't

      • It has smooth motion 100 done in software. But the panel (like a lot of them) is 50.

Xbox says it can do 60hz?

        • @cyrax83: 50/60 same thing. The motion handling is post processing so external devices aren't aware of this. Any way for gaming you'd want ask this turned off so no great loss there.Does the tv have smooth motion settings?

        • @poxy001:

Yep it does have the setting, but you can turn it off. Haven't given it a proper test yet though.

        • @cyrax83: can or cant turn it off? weird if you cant actually turn it off… How do we know if its working? Let me know where the setting is. I couldnt find it in the menus when checking in the store.

  • How long do they take to dispatch the tv? Ordered since Friday, haven’t heard from them yet :/

    • Have you received any news if yours has been dispatched? Bought mine Saturday night, hoping we'll get it this week.

      • I called them this arvo, they say it'll dispatch tomorrow, can't arrange time of delivery.

If you r in NSW, u r likely to get it this week.

    • Same. Sent 2 messages but no replies. It says delivery date of 18-19th but that obviously isn't going to happen!
Even more annoying that the one for $1685 is back in stock!

      • I have the same estimate, not going to happen either. And no update of shipment today even they told me over the phone it'll be shipped today, pretty bad in communication :/

      • That's unlucky, I got my tracking number today, estimated delivery date to Brisbane is friday. Hope you guys get yours soon!

      • You should give them a call, it took me 2 calls to finally get them send out my order, they must have sold more TV than they can normally handle in this sale, so it’s a mess :/

  • Took the plunge. Thanks OP. Back in stock and 2 left in their ebay store if anyone is interested!

  • For owners wanting tips, tricks and advice about the TV: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2701106&…

    • hows your experience with this TV so far? I am going to use it for Netflix and youtube so not expecting much…

      • +2

For Youtube and Netflix it works great. Picture quality seems good too.

It's not as refined as the Hisense in regards to menu and navigating around - but then again the Hisense is 50% more expensive.

I haven't given it a proper run, but from my initial usage:

        1. Fast Boot had issues which means turning off/on took 1 minute for the Android OS to boot, I contacted TCL and they gave me a fix which seems to be working so far and now it's instant. I posted the fix in the whirlpool thread.

        2. Initially I found the menu's to be laggy - i.e. navigating around. There was a suggestion to enable developer options, turn animations off and limit background processes to 4 which helped, it's now a bit snappier.

        3. The TV guide is a bit annoying - as you scroll to the end of the channel list, it doesn't loop around - small nitpick.

        For the price, it's great.

        • Thanks mate. Yep, i am following thread on WP to get more details.

  • Just tried to claim the $200 but promotion seems to have ended early. Sent an email to check but if this is true I will be returning the TV as this promo was a huge reason for me to buy it over the last Hisense 65N7 that I saw in store (and is no longer there).

    • That would be really bad for TCL reputation if that's true. I'll return mine when it even arrives.

      • Claims page is up again
