Which PC Byte and Shopping Express are currently having a price war.

      • -3

        They are the same company.

        • +7

They aren't actually, they're very fierce competitors.

        • +1

Shopping Express and Futu are the same company, they're based in Alexandria.
          Very fast shipping.

PC Byte is located next to the auspost hub in Silverwater, along with memorycity (from memory that's the name?)

Yep, but their delivery times are SHOCKING.

It took them 2 weeks to deliver an SD card from the last sale, I'd happily recommend all their competitors over them lol

        • @montorola:

I gotta say I ordered the 1TB MX500 from PC Byte today at 1:30PM and I got an email an hour ago from auspost saying expected delivery is tomorrow.

(profanity) amazing shippings times. I guess it's luck of the draw.

        • @Concerned:
          I'm not concerned, are you?

        • @montorola:
When they did SD card deals a long time ago it was amazingly fast..
Definitely not the same these days, though I'd still say it's.. acceptable

  • Hey you awesome peeps! Does this one and crucial mx500 fit in thinkpad e580? Been wanting to add more storage with an extra ssd. Also can thinkpad580 take two ssds? Thanks so much

Time to do some research mate. Won't get very far asking pretty open ended questions which others are just going to have to google anyway.

          Flip over your laptop.
There's an access panel to the harddrive and RAM.
Usually there is only space for one harddrive, although some people have taken out an optical drive to fit an SSD instead.

I can say with 100% certainty you can fit ONE 2.5" SSD inside the e580, because it of the below information taken from the Lenovo website.

          Up to 2 drives (1 x M.2 SSD and 1 x HDD)
Up to 512GB PCIe M.2 SSD
          Up to 500GB 7200 RPM; 2TB 5400RPM 2.5" SATA HDD

The standard 2.5" SSD can only replace the drive listed on the second line, which are in italics.
You can access the drive via an access panel on the bottom of the laptop.
You CAN put two SSDs inside the e580, but the second one must be in M.2 format (it looks like a chip, your 2.5" SSD or HDD looks like a big rectangular block)

        • I know this says e480 but you can use it as a guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDkoD0iF-Xs

There's no specific access panel for hard drive; you have to take off the whole bottom panel.
I used an old plastic card to unclip it (instead of a guitar pick like the guy used).

        • @cwongtech:

So as long as there is no hdd you could use that 2.5 inch bay

Do you want me to 'Let me google it for you'?

    • +1

Yes, you can add this or mx500 to your e580

    • So I typed into Google 'Can I put a mx500 500gb in a e580', and this was the first result:

      http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/thinkpad-e580/CT11772982

      Crucial MX500 500GB SATA 2.5-inch 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal SSD
      Upgrade for: Lenovo ThinkPad E580

So you may need an adapter, but it seems pretty clear.

Was getting tiring to manage the storage on the 120GB 840.Thanks

  • Do eBay plus members always get 5% more than non-members ?

    • First time so far. I'm just hoping that they're not doing these crazy deals for the next month or so to get people to sign up to Ebay Plus. Then go back to rare deals here and there.
