Dorsogna Gourmet Hot Dog Traditional 400g $2.80 (Was $6) or $4 Depending on Stores @ Woolworths

120

Looks like a good price for sausages with 90% pork. Saw them at several stores in Brisbane, possibly nationwide. Haven't tried them yet though bought a few for myself.
Cheddar & Chipotle variety are also on special at the same price.

Two German towns vie to be the original birthplace of the modern hot dog. Frankfurt claims the frankfurter was invented there over 500 years ago, in 1484: eight years before Columbus set sail for America. But the people of Vienna (Wien, in German) say they are the true originators of the “wienerwurst.”

  • $4 in ACT, so maybe state specific

Packet claims at least 30% Australian ingredients, so maybe some of the pork is from overseas?

    • No maybe about it

    sausages with 90% pork.

    Snouts, ears, tongues and trotters?

    quote:

The National Hot Dog & Sausage Council (NHDSC) notes that hot dogs, whether regular, turkey, pork or beef, begin with “trimmings.” A purposely-vague word, trimmings come in lots of shapes and sizes.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO): “The raw meat materials used for precooked-cooked products are lower-grade muscle trimmings, fatty tissues, head meat, animal feet, animal skin, blood, liver and other edible slaughter by-products.”

    • Probably.. I'd like to think they put in pork fillet but that's too good to be true.

      • They do, filleted snouts.
