    Would it not get hot drinking the tea lol? Metal + hot usualy equals hot metal.

    • Iced tea?

      • Then that'll be too cold - cold metal.

        • Perfect.

    • +1

      It does. But if it's too hot in there, it's too hot for your mouth.

    Marvelous idea, I will get some when time permitted.

      During your tea break?

    This will be useful once they ban plastic straws.

      • +2

        Yes, bendy plastic straws are necessary for many young, aged & disabled. I'm sure those could be supplied or carried by the person. It just needs some thought.

          "bendy plastic straws are necessary for many young, aged & disabled"

          Baloney. Excuses like this for plastic straws are weak. There's more than one material that's flexible and isn't plastic.

        • +1

          @Hunterex: yep, before plastic straws they were paper, so for places to keep paper staws when requested for use by disabled. elderly or kids is easy enough.

          But most of these people already carry stuff for their challenges, mums have drink bottles for their kids, elderly carry , medication, some people nappies for bladder problems ….. to also include a straw will become a habit so a straw at shops would simply be requested.

          The dispossible coffee ups will be interesting, just as coles and woolies have found sales down since no free bags, coffee shops will sell coffees, and complain about job losses …..

          Filter from cigarettes are also plastic fibre ….lets see what the cigarette companies come up with.

          Hope this plastic thing doesn't just pick easy target like supermarket bags and straws …both of which used to be free and will in the long run save supermarkets and shops money ….

          @Hunterex:
          I guess you don't know what it is like to have a disability impairing eating & drinking😢

          That's why alternatives are needed BEFORE eliminating all plastic straws.

          Looking after a person who needs the bendy straws every day, removal from shelves will be a major feeding issue. We bring our own at the moment. But for hygiene reasons, they can't be safely reused (have been threatened with removal of my care if I do)!

          I certainly support minimization of plastic use.

          @garage sale:
          Tried the paper - too hard for person with feeding problem to use as those bend & stop flow. A person with a feeding disability often has limited ability to handle soft straws or suck when the straw bends.

          For me, straws are necessary to feed a person with disability - as a carer. Not worried about removal from food outlets as we carry our own bendy straws. But there are times those are lost or forgotten while dealing with other urgent care matters.

          Removal from shelves of all plastic straws is potential issue (which seems to be lost in push to get rid of straws). But it will raise awareness of this issue & alternatives are bound to fill the gap.
          It just takes some thought.

        • @garage sale: They've already bought into e cig technology in a big way. Cigarette companies are now the main investors.

    • Does the filter come off? If not it could be annoying getting the last cm or two. If so it seems restricted to drinks full of bits and pieces where you don't drink that last bit.

    I would not trust anything that’s claims to be stainless steel from China. Very loosely used apparently,
