    Wowee. Are these stackable?

    • +5

Yes for the gold membership. I think up to 3 years.

      • +2

        mines now May 2021 :)

        • +1

The 3 Month Subscription is $11.95 so 12 (4x3 month) is $47.80. Isn't that cheaper than buying a 12 month sub???

        • That 3 month deal is for the xbox game pass. It allows you to play a range of around 100(i think?) games for free during your subscription. Its seperate to xbox live

        • +1

@thearbiter117: He's right. 3 months of Gold is on sale for $11.95. Works out cheaper than the yearly deal.

        • @Chris: Link?

          3 months is $29.95

        • @Suspect420: Just go to the 12 months link in OP and choose 3 months from the drop down box. Still shows $11.95 for me. May be for new users only?

          edit: link

        • @Chris: must be for new users. Mine goes back to 29.95 when I sign in

  • +6

Looks like the game pass is only for new members. It showed up at 3 months when I clicked your link but after signing in it doesn't show it (I'm already signed up).

    • I stacked two years of GP when Amazon and Best Buy had their 6 month membership sale. Not too upset about missing out on this.

      • What were the prices on that? Thinking of stacking some up for a housemate if it is close to the historical lowest price which I still have to research.

  • -3

There's no way to opt out of being charged every year after the first? I'd expect a 'don't subscribe' button or something but there isn't one.

    • +14

I usually go into the payment options of my MS account and tell it to stop recurring payments.

    • Once you have a subscription, at the purchase screen (where you see "Join Now" there will be a "Manage" button to manage your subscription.

      • +1

You can turn off recurring payments/renewal or you can change gamepass renewal from 32.85 to 10.95.

  • +4

The 3 month game pass can't be purchased for existing members.

    • I did…

      • I'm on day 13 of the 14 day trial and when I click "join now" it refreshes the page

  • Yes, my man, yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • +2

I just added 2 more years of gold subscription. nice find.

    • +2

Nice follow up on the dashboard offer a few months back

  • +13

apparently you can get $5.30 cashback using CR on Xbox Live subs, you will need to search Xbox live in the search bar up top after clicking to the MS store.

    • +3

      Shopback is 9.50

      • I can’t find Microsoft listed as a Shopback store??

        • +3

It is, 6% cash back and go into details it says 9.50 for 12 months, I use the app

        • @XanderYuan: Thanks for this. Couldn’t find Microsoft on the Shopback website and just caught your post before using CR for the Live 12 month sub. Shopback has Microsoft listed in their app but not on the website. Bought it through the app to get $9.50 back!

  • yep. looks like 3 months of game pass isnt for existing. though i'm assuming if you just get 3 months of game pass on a random xbox account that is logged into the console you can still play it on your main account

    • +1

You definitely should be able to do it that way. Although it does have a button saying buy as a gift also. I wonder if you buy on a separate account if you can apply the code to your normal account.

Will look into it tomorrow when fully awake either way!

      • nice. hopefully you comment back when you do. that sounds like a good plan. id test it up im already sick of contacting microsoft with refunds from their screw ups i've had recently

        • Can't do that I've already tried before.

        • +1

I couldn't sleep so I gave it a whirl and sadly trying to gift it just reverts to the normal pricing. Only real way around it is signing up via a second account and adding it to your Xbox One as home Xbox then you have access with your normal profile.

Bit of mucking around but not too hard if you already have secondary accounts.

        • @MBix:

Have you tried the game pass on a secondary account? I'm thinking of doing the same.

        • +1

          @johnode:

Yep, I gameshare with my nephew so he gets all games I purchase (including Gamepass / EA Access) works a treat.

        • @MBix:

Great! I'll give it a go. Thanks.

  • if i've already got a 3 month xbox live card back from the buy 3 months and get 3 months free deal, can i buy this and then add the 3/6 months on to it. Or use the 3 months and then buy the 12 months on top of it?

    • It just adds to your subscription duration. I added the 3+3 the moment I got the codes

  • +1

Anyone know if I buy as a gift, how long until I have to use code?

    • +2

I don't know, but it doesn't look like you get the discount when you buy as gift. It wanted to charge me full price when I tried

  • +6

Might help out with people when it comes to code longevity:

I was organising my email after years (LOL) and not kidding I found a Xbox live 1 month code that MS had sent me as some kind of gift or reward. That email is from 7 years ago, and I punched in the code just now and it's still available to be redeemed. Crazy.

Also I had a 12 month code from 2014, which I gave to a friend in 2016, it redeemed just fine.

Don't take this as some kind of 100%, but it does seem like MS codes last for a decent amount of time.

    • +1

This is 100% True. I was that lucky friend!

    • They don't expire. I've gone through all my 360 games, about a month back, looking for live codes and they all still work.

      • I have have had at least 10+ xbox live codes over the years that have expired before use.

  • Got the game pass thanks op. Do I need the gold as well to play game pass games online ?

  • What’s the difference from the game pass and the gold? You can’t get games with xbox live gold?

    • +2

Basically Game Pass gives you a heap of games to download and play.
Live Gold allows you to play online against other gamers. Also gives you a couple of games to download/play.

    • +4

Game pass gives you access to a bunch of games that you can download and play as long as you have a valid subscription. Like Netflix for games.

Gold is the traditional Live service, which you'll need if you want to play online. It also offers a few 'free' games each month. You can only play these as long as you're subscribed, except for the older Xbox 360 titles, which you can keep forever.

      • Cool, didn’t realise they had that system. Bit annoying you gotta get both if you want to play online and have games. Ps plus is the equivalent of the xbox game pass?

        • No ps plus is a live copycat. Used to be free but now charge. Xbox live lets you play online and gives you 4ish games a month. Game pass is Netflix for games.

        • You don't have to have both - you're free to buy and play any games you want without the game pass. The pass just lets you play select games for 'free'. The PS equivalent would be the game streaming service that we can't get here.

  • Has anybody successfully been able to gift the 3 month Game Pass at $10.95? Seems to revert back to the original price regardless and even when using a new Microsoft account.

    • Same with the Gold subs

  • Wow a microsoft deal in AU at this price? Cant even remember when it ever happened. About time they caught up with the price. Thanks OP. Whats the guess that we see this price this year again with Microsoft AU? Iam gonna say until next year minimum.

  • That sucks. I paid full price for Gold last weekend. First time it had lapsed in 10 years and I had to pay full price.

    • Talk to Microsoft support, maybe they'll help you out.

      • I wouldn't bet on it. They were absolute pr1cks dealing with customers on the recent 3+3 month missing bonus Gold offer… was suprised how faecal their customer service was.

    • It's always cheap on random sites

      • +2

Always be careful when buying codes from a third-party. Not suggesting they’re all bad, but if you look around you will find account/console bans for ‘marketplace fraud’, people buying codes which may have been purchased with a stolen credit card.

        • Yep this is why I don't do that. Only buy from known sources, ie established online stores etc.

  • If i buy the gold and game pass died out activate immediately? Or can i choose when too activate it?

    • +1

It's a code, activate it when you are ready.
Alternatively, you can stack it for three years.

  • -3

Gold membership seems to be discounted for the first year only.

When I hit buy now, the price still comes up as $53 but with the message:

    "Xbox Live Gold 12-Month
AU$53.00 including tax for the first year
AU$79.95 including tax every year after that"

So if you're a member I don't know if this will work or if you'll end up charged full price.

I have over 2 years anyway so I'm going to pass for now.

    • +3

I bought it twice and now my Gold expires in 2020, so it does stack. It's set to autorenew in 2020 for $79.95 but I can cancel that.

      • -2

Good to know. I only reported what I saw. All I said is I didn't know. Tough crowd. Some days I don't want to waste my time here.

        • I just bought 3 years worth (via paypal) and have 3 $53 transactions on my credit card.

        • -1

I heard if you put your hands over your ears and shout "la la la" at the top of your lungs, close your eyes, wish upon a star, and pass gas silently, it ceases to be true

  • +1

That's a great price on Xbox Live for 12 months!!

  • If only this happened last week when the amex offer is still valid. Well, you cant have everything

  • +2

For anyone on the fence - Xbox Games Pass is incredible value for a lazy/light gamer - a real decider for me vs the PS4.

Makes it so easy to play a broad variety of games for little upfront cost. I think games subscriptions will take off just like music and video; makes little sense to 'own' something like a digital license if the cost of a subscription is low enough…

    • I've had it for a while now (possibly close to 12 months). I have to say I haven't used it as much as I'd hoped. But I've played a fair bit of Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2 which were available on Game Pass at launch.

I probably could've bought the 2 games for the same price compared to the number of months I've paid for Game Pass, but at least I've got a whole library at my disposal if I choose.

      • Yeah, we'll see what the future holds. Sometimes giving someone a whole heap of options actually decreases the value significantly. I used to love going to the video store to get movies to watch, and I'd almost always enjoy it. Now I'll flick through 100s of Netflix shows and it all looks boring.

        • I think taking away the act of ownership removes that initial hurdle - which can be good as it allows us to access a lot, but the now have the paradox of choice… so many options leave us disabled!!

PS - I just got into Elder Scrolls Online - free I think this month on Games Pass - holy crap, I don't think I will ever be productive again!!

  • Only valid for new members?

    • It looks like the game pass deal is for new members only. The Live Gold price is also for existing members, though.

  • -2

Was hoping for a deal on psn cards during the Amazon prime sale but no dice.

  • -8

xbox games pass for three months is misleading.

I click on the join now button and it tries to charge me for 1 month though before i click it says three.
I am an existing customer but there is no clear warning that the item has changed when it comes to payment.
If i didn't review it properly I would have bought one month thinking i was getting three.

    • It appears the 3 month game pass for $10.95 is targeted or only for new subscriptions.

      OP should modify the description.

      • it's not even that.
        the link says 3 months.
when it click it, it opens up to the payment page saying one month for the same amount.

        • Yep, the link shows 3 months if you're not logged in.

        • @Stix: Mods have modified the title - thanks mods!

  • +4

    https://www.cashrewards.com.au/xbox
$5.30 cash back for the 12 month Xbox Live Gold from Cash Rewards.

    • thanks for the reminder

    • Can't seem to find the 12month subscription using the link. Might be just me.

EDIT: found it via the banner promotion

  • thanks got the gamepass

  • Good price for Xbox Live - thanks OP.

As per my earlier comment though, the game pass description should be modified as it appears the 3 month game pass for $10.95 is targeted or only for new subscriptions.

    • Thanks mods.

  • May be a stupid question but just need clarification. How do you stack/redeem Xbox Live Gold when you are already subscribed? It says 'owned' when finding it in the Xbox store then when clicking on it you get 'Buy as gift', 'Redeem a code', 'Manage' or 'Share Gold on this Xbox'…..which one do I choose? Do I buy as gift and then redeem code? Thanks in advance :)

    • It should get send to you as a code so just redeem a code :)

      • Ok but how do I get the code sent? Which option do I choose from those I listed above? 'Buy as gift'? Do I sign out of my account then 'join now'?

        • +2

FYI have worked out the issue.

As i had 'recurring billing' active this prevented me from accessing the drop down box and choosing the new subscription.

Once I turned off 'recurring billing' I could choose 12 month for $53 and it added to my current subscription. Yay!

  • Grrr! It just keep reloading the page when I try to buy it :(

  • Thanks bought another year of live gold and stacked it onto my existing 2020 expiry, now it expires in 2021 :)

  • If I buy these, do they have to be activated straight-away? I'm not on Gold subscription at the moment.

    • It will immediately be applied to your account.

  • As a brand new Xbox one S owner - which one of these should I be getting?

    • +1

Game Pass if you don't have games and wish to trial a whole heap without buying them.

Xbox Live if you want to play online / with friends (eg Fortnite)

      • Cheers, opted to go for the Live

        • +2

          get both.
10.95 fo xbox games pass to trial for three months is a no brainer for a new owner.
