Rep Response::

Hey guys,

Charlie here. Allow me to explain!

Pizzavid is way for us to show people our video ads and get feedback. The plan is to get a bunch of people who are interested into watching our videos, and giving feedback before they become ads on Facebook and YouTube.

Basically, a survey tool for video creators.

We launched Pizzavid last week as a way to attract these people, and it's clearly been shared around this weekend. Did not expect it to go so mental.

The $10 will be legit for those who complete the survey and get the video links.

    Received this email:

    We're heating up.

Thanks for signing up to Pizzavid!

    We're getting ready for launch.

    What happens now?

Soon, you'll receive 3 emails and links to videos to watch, and give your feedback on.

Once you complete those 3 tasks, we'll email you a $10 Dominos voucher.

    Love,

    The team

No voucher yet but at least you got love.

Don't understand how people can up vote something like this without receiving a gift card yet?

    • +1

Traditionally for reputable sellers, a pre-emptive upvote is OK, but in this case, they should be reserved until they actually get the product

    • -1

Thats why this is Ozpoor not OZrich, dont have to be smart to be poor

      • +2

Don't have to be smart to bang on a keyboard either, it would appear.

Yeah look I'm no expert but this seems fake as f*** and I'm annoyed mods haven't intervened.

The site isn't secure. There is no branding of Giftpay or Domino's save for a postage stamp sized logo which wouldn't be enough to get them in any trouble as far as misrepresentation - cause no-one would look at that page and think they were associated with Domino's.

Who's gonna whois the domain registry info and find shady ties?

/edit/ or maybe it's legit and the guy has just done a poor job of it all.

This doesn't strike me as a guy who wouldn't know to make the site secure or make it look more legitimate…unless it's some sort of fraud/scam. I have no idea.

I've emailed him now with a link to this thread and asked him to please come tell us more

    • Yeah look I'm no expert but this seems fake as f*** and I'm annoyed mods haven't intervened.

I've put a note at the top but if a business has an ABN and the owner is also the owner of Koala, another popular store, I'm not sure what else we can. Keen to hear what Charlie has to say.

      • Yeah true, like the guy seems like he has a lot to lose but he also seems like he should know better.

There is no reference to this domain outside of ozbargain

        • @gearboxa:

What are the exact requirements? Ops write up makes no mention of having to provide feedback or a survey. …we're just going to watch the ads and claim the free pizza - you know this right? Most of us barely paying attention to them even.

When will we receive the emails?

          /edit/

Additional info from Charlie I didn't notice before writing my comment (shoot first ask questions later hey.. soz)

          Hey hetzagd,

Thanks for the email and drawing me to the fact the ad has been shared around, didn't expect it to blow up like this.

I've got an idea for a video testing platform that needed willing survey participants, so I created Pizzavid to get 100 people.

This has clearly gone mental so I've stopped sign ups didn't expect this!

          Cheers again

          Charlie

Already knew that but thanks anyway, OP. :D

  • FAKE LINK!

    Hey guys,

I'm Charlie, the creator of the site.

The offer is legit, but was only expecting 100 or so signups and this has got way out of control, and I've had to take the site down.

It was a launch of a piece of software I am writing to test video before they become ads.

We will be working through the list as we test video over the coming weeks. I assure you I am not a spammer or malicious.

    Apologies for any confusion, cheers.

    • +1

You put ads somewhere on facebook and didn't anticipate more than 100 sign ups?

Are you partnered with GiftPay or are you just using their product as incentives?

    • +3

Now you know the power of ozbargain - We are legion. Feed us pizza and you'll see exponential growth in your business.

      • +1

Feed us pizza and you'll see exponential growth in your business.

No - it's everyone give him their name, age, post code and email address and once he's got enough he'll then set this up, maybe, in a couple of weeks. That is my take away from all this anyway - instead of a pizza funnily enough. Oh yeah and Domino's and GiftPay don't know who he is either so don't ask them about any of all of this.

Ozbargain fail. We've done been had.

Oh yeah he says he's taken the site down but it's still up and still accepting people's submitted personal info from what I can tell (like there's no visual difference to how it was behaving prior to him announcing it's been taken down) https://i.imgur.com/36zDA8S.jpg

        • I think your Browser is cached :)

  • Is it just me or did anyone else notice the new requirements? Says at the top of the page simply watch three x one minute videos . However in the FAQ section it now states:

You will be a sent a link to a video. To complete the task, you need to follow the instructions. This involves watching a video twice, answering three questions and recording your emotions during it. So do we have to record a video of our face expressions etc and send it to the company ? Or do we record our emotions by writing them down.

    • Hey Amy, you will see soon! You press a button during the video (thumbs up and thumbs down) depending how you feel!

    • +1

      Nah I read that yesterday.

If you had to record your emotions via video rather than text, I doubt many OzBargainers would bother. Even for $100 cash. Based on my psychoanalysis of this site's demographics, such an act would be seen as public humiliation.

"And next we have James H., 32, an accountant from Stanmore NSW, rockin' the Harlem Shake for a side of cheesy garlic bread. Whoa, look at him go!"
