I just ordered my first box of youfoodz last week and must say I was underwhelmed. Whilst I couldn't fault any of the dishes in flavour - the serving sizes are small. They're really only okay for lunches unless you're a really light eater. They also haven't thought about the logistics of eating all your food throughout the week. For example not many are easy to freeze and reheat. There are also salads mixed in with meats which make it harder to throw in the microwave. Also, it creates an incredible quantity of waste. It makes me wonder why they don't do a 'bulk' scenario where they give you a bigger container of the main dish and a separate one with the sides and most people can easily create their own tupperware or eat at their desired pace. Maybe I'm missing something but that was my experience

Make a side of rice or a salad.

      • this is actually a great idea. treat the order as a main with rice.

the dishes are usually delicious with lots of sauce that can be mixed into rice. and heavily protein focused, so would be balanced by carbs

    • I agree. My order from the last deal arrived yesterday. The meals are pretty tasteless. Still somewhat enjoyed it but wont be ordering again.

    • They’re positioned as healthy/weight loss meals, so shouldn’t be a surprise that meals are smaller than most people eat normally.

i usually spend $10+ at work buying lunch for a medicore takeaway meal loaded with calories

with the discounts, ive just been putting some in the freezer (vegies or not) and the rest in the fridge, and move 2-3 boxes out from the freezer into the fridge to defrost a day or two in advance

The cost ends up being like $7 max after discounts. I dont need to pack lunch. So whilst i totally agree theres tons of packaging waste (ive emailed them about the boxes, they said theyre looking into larger meal portions and smaller styrofoam boxes)

so i save money, time and consume tastier food with forced portion control.

if you treat the meals for this purpose. its great

On weekends when im feeling super lazy, its great as a quick light meal.

Im not too fussed about the microwave sogginess, cause if im that picky i wouldnt be eating prepackaged meals to begin with

i dont think this is intended to replace your regular meals. i have a huge appetite, and i can honestly say i feel alot better eating less during lunch and cooking normal meals for dinner.

  • $18 meals if you need to eat two…

          Congratulations!

  • True.
I ordered 8 meals a couple of months ago and wont be ordering more. Even though it was convenient and tasty, loved the coconut fish.
Anyways I had to eat 3 meals to stay alive each day :)
Instead of wasting money on the fancy promotional print outside and cutlery why not spend it into bigger meals. Not everyone wants to lose weight..

  • No better deals this week, so no YooFoodz for me. A good chance to clear out the freezer a bit. :)
