    • Cheers, don't follow the Melbourne deals.
EDIT: Updated title for Melbourne location

  • Beat me to it! LOL another example of a festival putting on quality acts and losing ticket sales as a result. When people complain that music festivals have too much cheese, this is why. Just look at what happened to DLT

    • +2

I think the problem isnt too much cheese - its just too many festivals.

Honestly I think this is the weakest lineup of any festival in the last 12 months, and thats why they're struggling with ticket sales. They've booked a mix match of random artists, including a fair few one-hit wonders that noone really wants to see live. Good price on the tix, but I personally wont be going.

      spot on

Nas, Faithless, Sasha, Erykah Badu, Phoenix, Ludacris…one-hit wonders? lol. You couldn't mean one-album wonders as in Friendly Fires and Miike Snow who are still on their debut albums

Voter1 is closer to the money, saturation has put a dampener on the festival love fest over the last 7-8 years.

"Faithless, Sasha, Erykah Badu, Phoenix" "Friendly Fires and Miike Snow"

        Who?

        • +4

i guess you didnt know god was a dj then….

        • +1

sasha was top DJ in the world in 2000, before tiesto and armin and all these other guys now, and he's been in the top 10 prettty much every year as well, either before your time or different to your tastes anyways. Faithless were and are still big in the electronic scene.

      • -6

Ludacris and Phoenix are probably the only two that have had success by themselves on an album.

      • People are always going to complain that a festival doesnt have enough headline acts - I mean BDO this year copped heaps of criticism.
I think some people are honestly expecting U2 / Chilli Peppers / Green Day / Bon Jovi / Pink / michael jackson :P

        • +3

I can safely say that no BDO attendee is expecting any of those acts :D

        • +1

Actually Red Hot Chili Peppers played at the 2000 Big Day Out
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Day_Out_lineups_by_year

        • BDO is more famous for featuring some more local acts, its a generally more 'aussie' day.

The other festivals (i.e. goodvibes, future etc) are more focussed on dance/electronic stuff, and people go to see tiesto, guetta, avb, etc.

Generally speaking I find that big name rappers dont draw in a huge crowd, because you cant really listen to that for extended periods of time, its more suitable in concert rather than festivals.

This is all personal opinion, obviously others will think differently but yea - thats my explanation for why this lineup is weak. That being said, sasha and faithless are still a decent draw.

    • Considering that line-up, I'm surprised they didn't have Anvil.

      • +1

        Anvil rocks!!!!

  • +12

I think the problem is the buff orange men that plague these festivals more than anything….

    • +1

      1rd

  • good value cheers

  • I was happy to pay full price just to see Faithless (not interested in any other acts)…if only Perth tix were half price too!

  • Having last minute deals like this (and the BDO bring a friend debacle) are not going to do festivals in general any good.

Surely everyone will think twice before buying tickets early on in the chance of a half price sale?

  • DAMN! So tempted…
